SUGA is a definition of true artist. He is honest, straightforward, intelligent and it shows in his raw and emotional lyrics. His whole existence revolves around music. As Jin said "our SUGA, he’s a friend who has an immense passion for music. To the point i wonder if he didn’t become a singer or songwriter/producer, what would he be? Everything surrounding him -hobbies, personal life - is all tuned around music. He’s someone that makes me think: “he looks amazing as a singer, as someone who makes songs.” SUGA started writing songs at 13 years old and when he had multiple part time jobs he was working at record studio and was giving MIDI lessons. He wrote 16 bars a day when he was a teenager and then one song a day. He says he writes music not because he thinks he should but because it's his best amusement, lyrics are just writing themselves in his head. He always brings his equipment on vacations and makes music everywhere, even on sets. When they've been asked what they would do without BTS other members answer different jobs, but SUGA is always consistent about his answer and says that he will be producer and songwriter even without BTS. He is an established producer, who works with other artists and wins awards, he is very deep lyricist, who writes about important problems in society, he is versatile composer. He can play piano by ear and credited for piano in many songs. He can read music sheets, he has perfect pitch and he can hear a musical note and identify or recreate it perfectly. He plays guitar and practiced his guitar 6 hours a day. He is learning drums as well. His studio is named Genius Lab and Media calls him "miracle writer", "worldwide music producer", "musical genius", "Daegu wordsmith", "king of the music industry"

Andrew, all of us here love hearing your opinion about music, please don't ever say "this is gonna sound stupid". We all connect through music here and getting emotional over a BTS song is always the norm lmao. A bit of context about some of the lyrics in the song- there was a line that said " clutching my smashed shoulder": Suga actually got into a car accident where he was a delivery boy and a car crashed into him, dislocating his shoulder a few months before BTS's debut. He was too scared to tell his label and he went through training with his injured shoulder. He finally got surgery for it last year. He was also very poor as a teen, This song is deeply personal for him. I really liked your reaction, were glad to have you! :D (Sorry if there are any errors, my native language isn't English)

When people call them “just a boy band” or dismiss BTS this is one of the first things that comes to mind. I think it’s my absolute favorite song by him but it hits me every time what a stunning beautiful overwhelmingly honest look into his emotions and love for his piano and for music. He’s a genius who really seems to just breathe to make music taking his equipment everywhere. He cried through recording this and kept the sounds as some of the background because that’s who he is as a producer. In a recent interview they asked him what song he’d like to re record and said none because reMastered editions lack the passion the original has being too cleaned up. Fair warning in most of his sings he just pours himself into the topic be it swag and fussing people (he is so feral and savage in the Cyphers he had yo go last in all 4 of them it’s hilarious), talking bout mental health (in Shadow interlude or the Ladt), about social commentary (Strange). We love him so much and he used the actual piano from his childhood in the live version he’s so emotional he almost can’t finish. In songs he has produced like Eight with IU (about loss of friends 3 of her best friends whom were overwhelmed by the dark side of kpop and in a short period of time all died by suicide) he worked with her to make a sad but uplifting stunning beautiful song. So Far Away with Suran is also beautiful, and his collab with Halsey Sugas Interlude on her album. I am so glad I took a chance on kpop and discovered him. The damn man made me relisten over and over to a damn Samsung ringtone (he produced a short song remixing their ring tone and it’s produced to beautifully). Btw the video for this might be confusing because it’s about the BU storyline. The feeling in this is about music/piano but translates to anyone with a passion for creating. Thank you so much for sharing your song for us it’s beautiful too. Also don’t know if you know yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of the release of this masterpiece. Yes the solo sings are wrecking. Euphoria is happy. Watch the live at Wembley version. Persona by RM is great not uplifting but upbeat sorta and I adore Ego by JHope (it’s a solo trilogy by the 3 rappers about the Carl Jung Map of the Soul each song touches on the Persona, Ego, Suga does Shadow -interlude which is… also extremely intense not as depressing but not upbeat confronting his shadow self). The BTS rabbit hole will get you especially with their ginormous catalog. They do have sings that sound light pop and have silly/sexy choreography (Bapsea and Go Go) …. That disguise some big ole social commentary lol. Or playful sings about how fans should stop listening to their songs and go do their homework (Pied Piper)… while doing some of the most devastating sexy moves (they know exactly what they are doing).

Suge mentioned in on of the interview that First love as very personal for him “‘First Love’ talks about the piano that i used to play when i was young which also means it’s the only friend i had. I cried alot while recording and kept crying at the emotional explosion at the later half.” This is about SUGA’s love for music and piano that prevailed even through his hardships. ( the lyrics mentioning his shoulder it was because of an accident that happen i think in 2013/2014 you can look it up) In the song you’ll hear him rapping from both his and the piano’s point of view. So you’ll hear him change his voice throughout the song to convey the story. #5yearswithfirstlove 🖤 I really love your pure insight and opinion. I STARTED CRYING WHEN YOU WERE TELLING YOUR STORY!! The fact that Yoongi personified his piano in this song is so incredible to me, it’s one of my favorite aspects of this song. And I think it’s something that most people miss when they listen to this song, unfortunately! I do not know how may times I have heard the song but every time I do it makes me cry. He is an exceptionally unique lyricist with approach to writing that some can perceive as almost too intimate and too personal but that´s what makes him so incredibly powerful and impactful. The song is incredible as an isolated piece of music on its own BUt when you get to know a little bit more about Min Yoongi as a person, his struggles and hardships in life prior to BTS and in the beginnings of BTS, it hits you ten times harder. "First Love" is gorgeous and raw, that´s his BTS material, but then we have AgustD´s music outside of BTS ( Suga´s solo stuff) and that is raw, raw, and even rawer. Songs like " So far away" ( my personal favorite of his ) and "The Last" are hard hitters that have been literally saving lives ..... I love the man. Nothing like him out there.

Your song for your grandad was beautiful - I could feel the emotion in your playing - just like I could feel the emotion in Yoongi's rapping. I'm sitting here with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. I'm not a musician really - I play the acoustic folk guitar a bit and my first guitar was an old one of my uncle's that he gave me. He said if I could learn to play it he'd buy me a new one. I was 13 and taught myself to play (from a Bert Weedon guitar book - well before such a great invention as the internet!). A year later I went back (he lived abroad) and got my new one from my uncle. A few years ago, I gave that old guitar to my granddaughter and she now plays beautifully, acoustic, electric, keyboards and drums. That guitar instilled a love of music in me and in her and she's the one that introduced me to BTS. Thank you so much for such a heartfelt reaction 💜💜💜

Suga is my favorite musician. The stories he tells and the way he tells them make him my favorite. Also I say to people sometimes that BTS changed my life and I mean it. And it mean it in many different ways. But more specifically Suga and his music saved my life. I was in an especially dark place one and something just told me to pull up a lyric video for a song of his where he first openly mentioned his struggles with mental health. At that the time I was terrified and paralyzed to tell anyone how I was struggling. I figured if he had the courage to tell the world maybe I could find the courage to tell one person. I did. That very same night. And how? I couldn’t even say anything myself I just played the same lyric video for that person and told them that was where I was at. They helped me and helped me find the further help I needed. And just TELLING someone helps immensely. Without Suga’s music I don’t know if I would have made it. And maybe I would have. Maybe I would have found some other song by some other artists that would have inspired me to get help. But it was Suga who gave me that glimpse of courage that made me think maybe i could be brave too. Maybe I could get better too. So I think he will always be my favorite musician.

The strings and piano instrumentation in this song are also prominent in SUGA's reinterpretation of the Samsung theme, "Over the Horizon." To jump from this, to Over the Horizon, to SUGA joyfully conducting with his entire being in the video for "[SEOUL X BTS] EoGiYeongCha Seoul BTS" is to hope that whatever penance he thinks he owed has been paid. Thanks for celebrating SUGA's vulnerability and how it expresses itself musically. Thanks for sharing your vulnerability and love for music. ^_^

I’ve always avoided rap music as a whole because it’s not my cup of tea and usually makes me feel a bit anxious and on edge rather than enjoying it, however there’s just something about BTS’ lyricism and the musicality of their individual rapping styles that have turned it into one of my favourite aspects of their music. Suga’s way of rapping is so incredibly emotive to me and can be heart wrenching yet therapeutic at the same time and he can make you feel a million different things depending on the song. I’ve not experienced anything like it musically before. I hold my hands up now and say I won’t judge before I listen, though BTS does still remain the exception to my rap rule! Like you say, you don’t even need to necessarily read the lyrics to feel the music and understand its language and to me that’s the highest praise there is for someone creating music. As a group, their music regularly makes me feel and recognise I am feeling things I hadn’t realised I needed to feel if that makes any sense… I’m not sure that it does but it’s definitely it’s own form of therapy. Really made me chuckle when you said you’d subject yourself to the live performance just to cry some more like yep, sometimes we’ve got to do it and you just know it’s going to be taken up ten more notches live 😅 Side request - please can we hear more of you and the sax sometime?? I might also manage to comment on one of your videos without writing a novel someday.. 🤣

I love that Suga and BTS in general are helping more people realize how multifaceted and emotionally profound rap music can be. It's not limited to the more mainstream styles that people might be more familiar with. It can be tender, reflective, calming, cathartic, etc. with a wide variety of musical styles. And BTS have such diverse sources of inspiration and musical abilities that we get so much versatility from them. Sometimes I just search for various descriptive keywords with rap music just to see what will come up, and it continuously fascinates me how much underrated artistry there is within this art form. Noname is an example of an emotionally intimate and poetic rapper that resonates with me personally. She has described what she does as "lullaby rap": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qplje6uL0bzIXY0.html

Never stop writing your novels, Molly! 😂 I completely understand what you mean about music that helps you feel things you didn't realize you needed to feel. And the way you worded that was perfect. As far as the saxophone, I posted a video on Twitter a few weeks ago, and the outro of all of my videos has one of my songs! My usual one is a song I wrote called Unresolved (it was the second song I wrote after A Close Goodbye), and the one at the end of this video was an a capella version I played of the song, In a Sentimental Mood! It usually makes more sense for me to post my stuff on Twitter or Instagram (I need to use Instagram more) so this channel stays BTS! Hey look, now I'm writing a novel 😅 Thank you again!

Suga was born for music. It is in every fiber of his being. First Love and The Last are some of his most famous emotional songs, but there is also Dear My Friend that really pulls at your heart. There is amazing behind the scenes of him creating songs, and him rapping. He not only writes music but also produces for BTS and other artists. One of the most beautiful moments I have seen of him reacting to music is from the 2019 MMA Awards as he watched an artist perform the song he wrote and produced. It was beautiful ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7h_h5lktZOWlYU.html Here is the reaction, Its 3 minutes so just taking the time to see it for yourself outside reacting is really worth it.) He gives his soul into his music, and has a habit of never throwing away anything he works on. Small sound bites we heard in 2016 were in songs he released in his 2020 mixtape. He doesnt hold back how he feels when he writes songs, and uses it as a way to release and say goodbye to those moments. My favorite song he wrote for BTS is Tomorrow. Small Edit You'll also notice Brown Pianos showing up around Suga in some Music Videos and Short Films.

And it's so rare to hear about those things in pop music. Love of an instrument? Your parents? Brotherhood? Self? They do this so well and cover a whole range of the human experience outside of romance and parties, and it's REAL topics that touch us. Every new ARMY meets this moment right here. A moment where they finally strip everything down to vulnerability. Suga's solo song "So Far Away" was that song for me on the August D album. I know they actually brought in his childhood piano for some things, but not confident enough to say which ones. It kills me when he says after his smashed shoulder that he felt he would never be able to do this again. For him to have gone through that again this year with corrective surgery on that shoulder. I can't imagine how afraid he was to possibly risk it again. He is by far my favorite lyricists and composer/producers. All his music is like...setting a fire in your chest. BTS are so talented it is sickening. Lol. In the best way.

Suga/Agust D/Min Yoongi’s music always hits me in the feels and this one, this one pulls at the heart strings so much regardless of whether I’m reading the lyrics or listening to the music. You shouldn’t worry about getting emotional here, you are among friends and many of us feel the same way. His “The Last” is one I can’t listen to unless I’m in a safe place because I lose it every time. There is a reason why it was Min Yoongi’s rap that broke through to me when I had gone numb to all feelings last year. I was depressed and to be honest was just waiting to die. His rap, which I stumbled upon by accident due to a weird random YT recommendation, reached me when nothing else had and caused me to feel emotion again. I had never heard rap before that I even liked before that, much less caused me to feel such strong emotions. The BTS Outro: Tear is another one that causes strong emotions as well. It is stunning. Thank you for sharing your music and your story about your grandfather. Your music was beautiful. 💜

First Love is one of the songs that finally let me know that Yoongi was my bias within the group. He's the only one who has been able to make me cry with his solo work - either within the group or as Agust D. The amount of emotion he is able to put behind his lyrics when rapping just makes my heart hurt when he's performing certain songs such as First Love. During BangBangCon (the first one) we were given the chance to see the Wings Tour Finale. Let's just say I was an ugly mess after when Yoongi had tears in his eyes and couldn't finish the last few bars of the song. You can't FAKE that kind of emotion and I know that it's hard for him to open up but ARMY is allowed to see his inner struggles through his music. Ironically enough I was never a fan of rap until I discovered BTS and the rapline are incredible since I know that whatever they're rapping about is going to be deep.

first love is one of the only songs that has ever made me cry and THE ONLY rap song to make me cry. as a pianist, this hits so so so close to home. yoongi actually got really emotional in the studio and had to take breaks in between lines because he couldn’t hold back his tears. as the instrumental gets really intense, you can hear him fighting for breaths between lines. this is in my top 3 bts songs and probably top 10 songs of all time.

This is why i really love suga's songs. He is not afraid to be vulnerable, he don't want to sugarcoat just because of his image as an idol (the perfect human image, which is riddiculous), he is really putting his passion and love towards everything, especially music. He really tells that behind the idol image, there is this strong yet fragile human being who the first love is his piano and his eternal love is music. He shows that he is still a human and have so many emotions, both dark and light, through his songs and that's why i love it so so much. I'm glad that you finally listen to one of his songs 💜

Yoongi has been writing music since he was a little kid. He knew that he would be a musician from the very young age and he told a lot of times that if he wouldn't be a part of BTS, he would still become a producer. His family didn't support it, they threw away all of his sheets with lyrics, that's why in First love he is saying that he pushed away the piano. He pushed away music, cause everything and everyone was against him. And even when we went back to music it didn't work out, he was selling his music on streets, he didn't have enough money to buy food or take a bus. So when he passed an audition for Bighit as a producer it was his oportunity to make music like he's always wanted. "Grusping my crushed shoulder" part is about that time when he got into a car incident during his delivery job and severely injured his shoulder. He was afraid that Bighit would kick him out if they found out about that, so he didn't tell anyone and continued to train with a broken shoulder. It could never heal proprely so for 8 years he was often in pain while dancing, last year he had surgery because of it. Yoongi went through many hardships in his life but he never gave up. He is so strong. It is so great to see that he became a respected producer, with whom many artists want to work. He is called Genius Producer by K-media, because everything that he creates is bound to succeed. And he writes music, which resonates with people

Now he deserved the title of Genius Producer since he had produced and written many good songs well-loved by Army and also other artists who had collaborated with him.

@@AndrewBergSax In addition, a few months after the accident, Suga was no longer able to hold out and announced to Big Hit that he would quit. But, Big Hit and Bang PD said why he didn't let them know quickly and told Suga to try more because they would support his tuition, so Suga was fortunately able to make his debut. I think the interview about this was in the BTS documentary. (Like Burn the Stage, Break the Silence...) Interestingly, Suga joined Big Hit as a producer, but producer Bang gently persuaded him to work on rapping only while dancing like a simple dance, making him debut as an idol. Well, he definitely lied.😂

Thank you for this reaction and thank you so much for sharing you story with us! 💜 First Love is from the Wings album and the whole album is truly a piece of art work! Each member’s solo song has a very personal meaning to themselves(As well as each song connecting to their fictional storyline, the BU). And the meaning for some songs like V’s(Real name Taehyung) song Stigma, is still unknown because he hasn’t spoken about what it means to him. Also from what I understand, Suga(Real name Yoongi) never planned on being a Kpop Idol. He audition to be a producer/songwriter for BigHit(Aka Hybe). The CEO convinced him to join BTS, which at the time was only going to be a Hip Hop/Rap group, but because of certain reasons some of the would-be members left. Only RM(Real name Namjoon), Suga and J-Hope(Real name Hoseok) were left so the CEO decided to add some singer and debut BTS as an Idol group. The reason I bring this up is because he has always had a passion for music and he has taken risks and gone out of his comfort zone(Suga has spoken about how he has/had a fear of crowds) to pursue his love of music.

This is a hard song to listen to, particularly if you are a musician, I think. Suga has a way of putting his emotions to music that not many people have. And he's used it to talk about his struggles, and it helped him work through them and brought comfort to many people. A lot of comments already mentioned his motorbike accident when he was doing deliveries to make ends meet. You'll see references to that in Shadow and We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal. I'm glad he was able to take time last year to get surgery so his shoulder can properly heal. Even with the pandemic, BTS adjusted their schedule so he could do that, and he was absent from their MAMA 2020 performance. When I was first looking at BTS, one of the first compilation videos was called something like "How BTS support each other" and the scene that stayed with me the most was Suga spotting his parents in the audience when they were in the middle of a concert, and he just broke into tears and gave them a "big bow". Thank you for sharing your story and your song. It is beautiful. If you want more upbeat songs to check out next, I recommend Dynamite (I have an ulterior motive), DNA, Boy with Luv, Airplane pt. 2, Idol, Dimple (vocal line), Outro: Wings.

Thank you for your reaction, I maybe teared up after reading your story, and also I was caught up in SUGA’s song and performance. A thing I love about BTS as artists is they inspire the rest of us to look more into ourselves and comb through our passions, our fears, our shadows, our selves. As they share their personal stories through their music, they manage to bring out ARMYs’ stories as well. When I was a child I used to play the piano and violin, but I never really had the passion for playing music. I just went through music lessons for my parents. But looking back, those summers of music lessons are some of the happiest moments of my life. It’s really nice to see your story as a musician, how that saxophone inspired you, and how you pursued music as a passion and as a way of life. And reading through the comments of other ARMYs, my heart is now full, knowing that even if we have different passions, we aren’t alone in toiling towards that passion. We all have our own stories of hardships, but also accomplishments, and joys. Their solo songs are their stories and that is the reason why it was really emotional. And it is emotional because you can relate to it. That is one of the reasons why BTS is different from others. Their honesty with their music makes you relate and feel things. Whenever I listen to this song, I remember my young self playing instruments at school's l marching band. And then asking myself, what happened? What made me stopped all of this? My lyre and flute recorder was burned down together with our house almost 11 years ago. And since then, I never touched any musical instruments but hearing this song made me try things again. Music is my first love. I forgot those things when I grew up and because of the painful things that happened in the past. When I bought a lyre and flute recorder some years ago. I cried when I tried to do the first note. Now, maybe I am in a different path that I learned to accept. But, my heart will be still with music. At my free time, I play some instruments and learn some more. Anyway, thank you for your genuine reaction. And thank you for sharing your story to us. I know it is hard and I saw it through your eyes as you reacted to this song but thank you for letting us hear your story and your music. 💜

Hello Andrew! Loved your reaction, here goes: 1. Many of us we cry every time hearing this song. 2. Yoongi touches a lot of subjects in his rap songs. It's not any rap talking about nothing like others ( even though I can enjoy other rap songs talking exactly about nothing) but he has a special and unique way, hence he and the other two members of the rap line are recognized for this. 3. I hope you will be hearing more rap from now on 😉🤣👍🏼 4. I absolutely adored you saxophone song. I personally prefer a very very joyful saxophone melody. But if it's raining nothing compares to listen jazz, cup of coffee, couch and a fluffy blanket. My mother was an absolute freak of jazz, she didn't hear music if it wasn't jazz 🤣. I'm more of a rock and rap person but I always remember my mom enjoying herself hearing jazz while raining ♥ 5. I think Caitlin will love Suga's rap songs. Stay healthy 👍🏼

Thank you for taking us on your journey Andrew. Tears streamed down my cheeks throughout this whole video as well so I hope you won't ever feel sorry for just expressing yourself. Honestly this is why BTS is so loved. They give us a piece of their soul in every song they write. Their honesty in their lyrics reaches somewhere deep inside of us and expresses what we feel but never managed to say out loud. The feelings you feel right now is how I felt when I listened to Tomorrow. Never ever, had I heard someone express my deepest darkest fears and doubts. I may have said this before but Yoongi's songwriting is just like how Roberta Flack described in 'Killing me softy': Strumming my pain with his fingers, singing my life with his words. Killing me softly with his song. Killing me softly with his song. Telling my whole life with his words, Killing me softly with his song.' The more I listened to them the more I found music that resonated with me. The best thing is that this is the case with all their songs. In each album you'll find a song that you thought you couldn't love more than the ones you already heard. BTS are that kind of artists. They strife for perfection with each song and work so incredibly hard for it. At the first glance one might suspect BTS to be just like any other music group. But they're not. They're so much more and that's why we ARMY are so passionate about them. Music like theirs deserves to be known by everyone. Not just for commercial purposes but for all the people whose heart will be comforted once they listen to their music.

I feel deeper every time I listen to this song. Tears pile up until the violin sounds, and the moment it plays, it lets itself go. That violin sound may be the last point for me. Suga is truly a great artist. The meanings he carries while writing his songs and the messages he gives from his life make you feel very different and emotional. I can not find words to say

Thank you so much for the amazing video! I totally understand how you feel. Yoongi (Suga) truly has a way to convey emotions through music. A little background story and my overall opinion on the song! Yoongi has always said that he cannot see himself doing anything else besides music, quote: "I just feel even if I was not an artist I will keep doing music, music is the only thing I truly know how to do". His parents in the beginning weren't the most supportive about him taking music as a profession (now they totally support), however, yoongi decided to just go for it anyway; taking multiples jobs (he was delivering something and had a bike accident that ended up injuring his shoulder, hence the lyric of "crushed shoulder") and selling songs that himself produced for very cheap prices. He has a song called "Intro: nevermind", where we kind of let us know about his parent's disapproval, him still deciding to continue, and his perseverance for his art. Truly one of my fav BTS songs! Now the song itself is so powerful, even someone like me that doesn't play an instrument could connect with it. The way I interpreted the song is not only about him and his piano, but music in general. Fiding your passion at a young age but not really understanding its meaning, then taking a break because life just put things in our way that sometimes make us forget or delay our passion, and then finding his way back to the thing that makes him happy and deciding to not leave it even when things become difficult and bringing so much suffering. Music is such a powerful tool for comfort indeed. BTS had a feature on the rolling stone magazine, where the interviewer asked Suga about this song, so let me put it here: Interviewer: I love the song “First Love,” where you talk about your early infatuation with your piano and with music. The lyrics suggest that your love for music is also a source of torment; what was going on there? Suga: When I was working on “First Love,” I wanted to express a mix of different emotions, because first love is not all good things; there’s the bitter things as well. So I was talking to Mr. Bang about attaching the metaphor of first love to the first moment I came to know music. The target of the love is a piano, but it could be anything - a friend, some other entity. Then, I wanted to show the emotions you go through. Link in case you want to check it out: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/suga-bts-band-cover-story-interview-dope-my-first-love-1167260/ Yoongi as an artist is very hardworking and honest with his music, touching topics of mental health and depression in his own mixtapes. Ok that was all! sorry for the long post~

I have no clue if someone has said this already but the piano he was sitting next to in the beginning of the live performance is the same piano that inspired the song. It made a apperence in their last concert of the tour which happened in Seoul.

i've heard this song many times but it never fails to give me goosebumps every single time.. his lyrics and storytelling, his voice, rap, passion and raw emotions, using the piano as the main instrument to push the track, his story itself and how much it you can feel everything he's saying even if you don't play instruments yourself and knowing just how much he suffered back then to follow his dreams, he had to work in multiple part time jobs, he made beats to sell but people would take his beats and then not pay him, his parents were against his music and he got into a car accident while working in a delivery job and caused him a serious shoulder injury that he suffered from for years till he finally had a surgery last november (note the lyric here where he said “grasping my crushed shoulder”) because when he first got accepted in bighit as a producer then they convinced him to join the group they we're forming (bts) so he didn't tell anyone about his accident so they don't kick him out but i think for more details of his story you should check out “the last” from his 2016 mixtape agust d sorry for the really long comment i kinda got carried away 😅

There was a time where I wasn't able to listen to this song. I don't have a special connection like that, at least not to an instrument, but I still feel the longing and pain he poured into it. To him his piano, the love for music, is his life, and I am glad that he wants to and can tell us his stories through it. I recommend listening to Black Swan next. I don't want to spoil anything but it also has a deep message centered around "passion". There is an orchestral version with a performance of a contemporary dance crew plus the actual studio version that has a MV. I think it's good to watch both and maybe also a live performance (the James Corden one is good. It's the only performance with a live audience, just be careful with copyright).

My grandparents bought a keyboard, so that when I would come over, I could play at their house. When we moved, I inherited it, because it has MIDI capability. That was back in 1997, I still use it as my MIDI controller, and I pretty well adamantly refuse to compose on anything else. Thank you for sharing. Thank you to Yoongi as well. :)

I’m not even a musician or an artist but this song just hits me. The emotions resonates with me. Also musicians and artists, you all are very special people and I have so much respect for artists and your craft and it’s fascinating to see the artist’s relationship with their art or in this song, their instrument.

The song is the perfect example of my favorite quality of Yoongi's musical genius. He masters expressing emotion through music. Every lyric, note, and pause is intentional to make you feel the song. This song is the first song to bring actual tears to my eyes. I'm not a musician or artist of any variety but I experience every feeling he had while listening to it. I love him💜

Thank you so much for sharing your story about your Grandpa and your beautiful song with us. Don't ever apologize for feeling things, even when they are overwhelming, while listening to BTS music. Those emotions are part of all of us, and the ability for their music to make you feel them is a large part of what makes their music so special to so many of us. If you have the time, you might want to watch this (non fancam) version (it would likely be blocked in a reaction so on your own would be better). This is honestly the first BTS song that made me cry and it was this very performance. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/acecgNpqmLnZmY0.html I hope you are having a lovely Thursday and can't wait until your next reaction.

Second comment, I wasn't sure if you caught it but the piano has a whole verse as well, you can hear Suga's cadence and tone change as he raps: “Don’t worry even if I leave because you’ll do well on your own I remember when I first met you Without my noticing, you grew up so much Although we’re putting an end to our relationship, don’t ever feel sorry for me You’ll see me again in any form Greet me again then” (credit: doolsetbangtan)

I know this comment is pretty late but I just felt the urge to write after watching your video. I love this song a lot. I've always thought that Yoongi wrote this with not just his instrument in mind, but his love for music in general and making music. I'm not a musician, but I was a dancer for many many years, since I was 5 years old, and when I listen to this song it reminds me of how I feel about dance. Although I wasn't able to pursue it professionally for several reasons, it's always been something that has been there for me throughout my entire life as a kind of therapy and outlet for my emotions. Yoongi has talked a lot about his struggles with depression and anxiety and how music has always helped him channel those feelings. He's said he writes and composes constantly because he can't not do it. It's like breathing to him. I've struggled with many of the same things and dance was always that for me. A way to make sense of the world and keep myself from exploding with all the pain and fear and sadness that I've felt in life. Over the years I've had a lot of feelings about dance. I know what Yoongi means when he writes about that desperation of feeling like you just can't keep going. I quit a couple of times, it's caused me so much joy and so much pain. But I always think of it as being my "first love". Even now, I've never found something that soothes me as much as putting in my headphones and just moving, in my room, in my backyard, in a random park. It is something that I think will be a part of me for the rest of my life. It's not something that's easy to put into words (which I think any type of artist will understand) but it's like dance (or music or whatever your passion) is this heartbeat pulsing in the back of my life. It's a huge part of what made into the person I am today and every time I tried to let go of it I've always felt so lost without it. Anyway sorry for this essay but I've watched a few of your videos and this one really impacted me a lot. Probably no one will read this but I've just never gotten this all out before and felt the urge to do so here. Thank you for your sincerity in your videos and I'm glad you have found something about BTS to connect with. They've truly helped me in so many ways and I'm always happy to see them resonate for others as well. Best of luck on your journey! There's so much to cover (I've been an ARMY for almost 3 years now and I still find new stuff every once in a while) but just enjoy it as it comes. BTS are really incredible artists and people and moving through their discography, MVs, and other content has been some of the most fun I've ever had.

i cried so many times listening to first love. i can relate to this song so much, me and my violin the same as yoongi's connection with his piano & music. due to some circumstances, i had to give up playing it. it makes me so much happy that suga never gave up on his dreams and he can freely do music now. you can really feel suga's love and passion on music listening to his songs. his music comforts me in so many ways and makes me feel that i'm not alone. that's why he's my bias, i truly admire him as a person and as an artist

Like BTS's Black Swan, this song reminds us that "an artist dies twice, first when thet loose their art (that is their heart and soul) and second thime when thet loose their body - and that the first death is more painful." I'm not fully honoring the real quote from Martha Graham "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." because it actually is true with everything we feel strongly about, be it sports, art, or a bobby. 💜
