Michael Landau live at Altes Pfandhaus in Cologne presenting his latest release “Rock Bottom”. We have some footage from the great show and an interview with Mike. It’s a reunion of his band “Burning Water” from the 90th featuring David Frazee on vocals. A Blues-Rock band with wide open spaces for Mike’s harmonic and intense guitar sound and play.
Michael Landau - guitar
David Frazee - vocals & guitar
Andy Hess - bass
Ian Thomas - drums
As a member of the so-called “best band of the world” playing with James Taylor since the beginning of the 90th, Mike developed up to one of the most influencing guitar player of the world. The long list of musicians he played with include Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, BB King, James Taylor, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart and many more.

I got to see the 'Renegade Creation' tour with Mike and Robben Ford. Best guitar show I've ever been to. Small club, Compound Grill. Gone now, but but definitely not forgotten.

Mike is most likely the best guitar player of his generation alive with Luke of course. I can't think about anyone more versatile, delicate and ferocious at the same time. truly a tone wizard and a guitar genius. If you ask guys like Scott Henderson who is actually a longlife favourite, he would tell you the same.

Not sure "rival" is the best way to describe their relationship seeing they have both stated they have been best friends since they were 12 years old and remain friends till this day. As a matter of fact Lukather started to get so many session jobs, he couldn't take them all so he told people about Landau

Most of Michael’s overdrive comes from a Maxon SD9 when playing live. He’s also famous for using a Roger Mayer Voodoo One, and I’ve recently noticed a Jan Ray on his board. From from everything I’ve heard, most of his overdriven tones are from the SD9.
