Randy Brecker remembers his brother Michael first starting to play the saxophone, in a very Jazz oriented household. Interview from a Google Hangout. Music: The Brecker Brothers, Some Skunk Funk and Straphangin'.

The Brecker brothers were a freak of nature. Just like Diz and Bird who were the architects of Bebop. These guys were the architects of this kinda music. Mind blowing!!! Randy's tone on his trumpet no matter how fast the lines is so sweet. Skunk Funk was like their anthem but the one that blew my mind was Rocks. Thanks for the music Randy and RIP Michael

Love the smile on Michael's face after Randy pulls off that grand pause at 6:30. Michael obviously had the same love and respect for Randy. Beautiful.

Damn. Just DAMN. I feel so lucky to have seen the Brecker Brothers and Michael Brecker's solo groups several times. Amidst such stunning world class talent Michael always seemed to steal the show.

Thank you so much, Bret!!! (Shawn J) The sequence in Mike's solo beginning around 2:50 is just insane, it's so good and he even does a little "choreography"... he was totally in the zone.

Man, that was a crazy tempo on Some Skunk Funk, but Mike was just as crazy/good. Wish he were still around.

So funny to see the performance after Randy commenting on it. One can’t help but feel for him as he is standing there kind of helpless beside his brother, who is just breathing fire. The solo he then comes up with is different, but quite good. I always liked how the Breckers are such contrasting solo voices. Often each had a totally different angle on the same song which is always stimulating, and it sort of spices things up. Great material and nice editing, Bret. 😎👍

@@JazzVideoGuy I'm neither a trumpet nor a saxophone player, but for the life of me, I can't see how Randy's solo is in any way inferior to Mike's, as implied by some of the comments here, and by Randy himself. Both are wonderful and very different.
