I loved the movie although it was funny to hear them speak with a french accent in english but with an english(american) accent in french...Jennifer Beals made an elegant Dolly Rose...I really liked her character...Elle était vraiment touchante et étrangement une des personnes qui semblait le plus digne de confiance dans cette histoire...I was completely unaware of this situation before watching the movie and I hope I will be able to find the book...parce que je DOIS le lire!!!

ouch mdani! i think these women were heroes at surviving! they used what they had to survive, because the could not vote, could BARELY own property and were not protected by the law like other citizens...i admire them for the courage to (many times) do what they truly didnt want to do in order to just attain some rights...it was difficult to be of African descent back then, so I don't blame or judge them AT ALL for taking the few opportunities life gave them

nulifeagain : That’s not entirely accurate. The free people of color did have legal rights and protections. Many of them were quite prosperous, owned and operated businesses, and some were successful planters. They DID NOT equal status with “true” White people.

@@amasion2882 Keyword the other person used was 'women'. Yes, the men had a lot of those rights but the women had to either inherit or marry for those things.

I use to love me some Anne Rice books this movie was the bomb back in the day if someone have a chance to see the movie I hope they enjoy it.....but don't be alarm it does include slavery issues base on beautiful black women......

Its funny to hear her accent but i think its kinda hot *blushes* JB looks beautiful in 19th Century dress, she really can pull of any look :) She's stunning and so talented :)

ez to get on 'amazon'.com just type in feast of all saints and make sure you get part 1 and 2 (its a box set so they should automatically come together)

Does she try to have a french accent ? Because it produces the same effect to me. (I'm french and I speak English like that, that's funny and ridiculous !! xD)
