My old 05 F150 XLT has a plain old tailgate that falls down as you open it. It works and does the job, no need for all these silly new tailgates.

Except you can’t get that 5.4L V8 any more…you have to get this beta 4 cylinder and pray your plastic, aluminum, turbo twink ‘truck’ makes it to your destination so you can post this 8 years later 😂😂🎉🎉

$400 option on the Chevy sounds great until the warranty runs out and you have to buy a replacement. That $400 option turns into a $2000 option real quick.

Wasn't so tall? These are standard, everyday trucks without lift kits or huge tires. Even the smaller truck segment are not much shorter, if at all height-wise. Unless you get the bottom of the barrel, most basic, truck out there that probably just has a radio, bench seat, and manual locks and windows. And that'll cost you probably $30k or more. He'll, it'll probably be a standard transmission too 🤣🤣🤣

Without question GM's multi-function tailgate wins, six different positions versus two for Ford & Ram. The multi-flex/pro tailgate will also be the strongest as it's still mostly one solid piece compared to the others which fully split into two/three separate sections.

I’ll have to take the ram or ford option, because when you have a trailer hooked up to the chevy, you’re gonna have to pay close attention so your tailgate doesn’t smack the trailer stand

The Ford and Ram special tailgates cost FAR more than the GM one and they also do far less overall. The GM one is hands down the most useful and the best value.

Another bonus to the GM tailgate is that it gets you closer to your goose neck chains instead of hopping into the bed when the little portion of the tailgate is lowered while the swing door style wouldn’t work as well because they would hit the trailer by swinging out

The fact that they have steps on these trucks solidifies the fact that they don’t want young people owning new trucks, these are meant for a 45 year old man to use to commute back and forth from his office jobs and occasionally do Walmart curbside pickup😂😂

They don’t make a truck that actually works as a truck anymore. I wouldn’t use one of these on my 3700acres. So their market is obviously for city people who don’t need a truck. As for your guess on age, I tend to disagree. It’s the younger people who want all the options, including stuff that is designed for the elderly. People in their 60’s don’t want that stuff because they are trying to prove that they aren’t old yet. People in their 40’s don’t want it because they aren’t showing age before their parents. It’s only the under 40 groups that just want all the options as a status symbol.

@@johnhahn8464 well you're right.. no Ridgeline until 2006... And not sure I need to argue against a vehicle that sold less than 4,000 units lifetime... But I WILL say my reasoning behond being a fan of the Honda tailgate...it has no more moving parts than a standard gate.. BUT it does move in both directions.. reliable & useful

They are all a gimmick. Not designed for the working stiff. Too many cracks, crevasas, and open spaces for dirt, hay, blood, oil, parts and tools to fall into. Total nightmare to clean. Standard tailgate with the power up/down is real nice like.

If you choose the Ford I'm sure there will be a recall on it maybe two or three. My 2022 Ford F150 Lariat 14 recalls and yes it is not in my garage anymore.

The Ford and Dodge tailgates are worthless. I just want a standard metal tailgate that folds down to open because I use ramps to load stuff in my truck.

Owned a chevy my whole adulthood and I will never buy another one after having to pay for so many unnecessary defects and repairs on my last purchase. Ford has some of the worst consumer complaints also. American quality control as a whole is essentially non-existent in 2024, which is why they’re only offering 36 month warranties on these new vehicles. Buy Japanese and never look back-they still have 5 year warranties for a reason. God Bless ❤

Ford made it so you can’t even fit an ATV in the bed anymore. Them new wheelers are getting over 700 lbs. Pretty heavy for a Ford. 🙏👏

I like the ram but i am biased. The ram also has a pop out step, so the Chevys tailgate is cool but I think ram wins overall

GM is the Rockstar here. Dutch doors for a tailgate it's just plain stupid. But I've got to give the manufacturers credit where it's due they're just giving the people what they want even when they don't know what they want.

Ram has the best tailgate in the game! You can access cargo from the right or left side without having to fully open tailgate especially with a trailer attached. Also the bed divider keeping cargo close to tailgate. Plus the easiest access by stepping in the bed without having to step over tailgate. Don’t forget about the entry level with the 4 corner airbag suspension when lowered easiest for elderly and kids!

Ram wish my 3500 tailgate did that. Fords is stupid and chevy has to many moving parts. Rams allows a fork truck all the way up to the bumper to load pallets.

Nobody. They can't make a good truck period. The most important thing is gimmicks to them and dumb buyers fall for gimmicks. What a clown show. We won't give you a long lasting vehicle but you can have a tailgate that does tricks lol.
