Thank you so much for sharing. Absolutely love Schenker but he plays so blazingly fast it's so hard to figure out what he's doing. This is really helpful!

@JbfMusicGuitar10 ай бұрын
A V was the second guitar I got! Had to do that holding the V bit between my legs thing that Schenker does a lot. Haven't played in much in years- sitting down and trying to play it was even more of a nightmare!

The first lick has a kinda Chris Poland feel to it.

Good point! The lower, midrange-y tone, economy picking thing and big bend are all pretty common things for Poland to do. would never have made that connection myself, but yeah, spot on!

@@JbfMusicGuitar yep, Mustaine adores Schenker (well, like also Hammet, Hetfield and all the thrashers from the early 80s!), he even stole his iconic posture when he started to play his Jackson flying V!

Hi Jack. Thanks for this... another awesome lesson. Schenker was my first guitar icon. The cover of assault attack with Michael Schenker in front of an erupting volcano, flying V held aloft was amazing and started my metal journey. Not sure I'll be able to play it as I struggle with lead (more a rhythm man I think) but it is great to try and your lessons make it easier to understand
@JbfMusicGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ross! Schenker in front of a volcano is some pretty epic stuff, to be fair these leads aren't easy- that last one in particular took me a fair while to get the hang of

Hi. Very interesting and useful content. Seeing how the picking pattern is important for these types of licks and many others, I was wondering if your tabs on Patreon include the picking info.
@JbfMusicGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful Bernard! I some times put the suggested picking in, but doesn't look like I have for these licks! The tabs are just as they appear in the video here
@chikung2 жыл бұрын
@@JbfMusicGuitar Thank you! Just a side note, I find that this problem is present on a lot of good tuition pages. I think that the picking should really be indicated, especially for fast repeating licks where it does make a difference and the ideally efficient picking is counter intuitive (i.e. not following alternate picking).
@JbfMusicGuitar2 жыл бұрын
@@chikung Fair point! I tend to highlight it if it's not alternate, but I don't always catch them. Interestingly, I only realised fairly recently that a lot of players do mini sweeps instead of strict alternate picking, made some licks based on it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZaFYLBqrpzLpIk.html Which thinking about it... I created as an exercise so I could get through this solo: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bb-in6-f07rak2w.html Lol, the things we put ourselves through for the love of guitar!

Great lesson onMichael Schenker. Would you say Michael, uses the 7 three note per string scales or sticks mostly to the five note pattern modes?
@JbfMusicGuitar9 күн бұрын
He's more of a pentatonic guy in my book, some 3 note per string shapes in there as well, but I'd wager the CAGED system is probably more how he sees/hears the fretboard modes when improving. It's the sort of thing I'd really love players to talk about a bit more!

Great lesson and nice MSG licks. With Lick1 difficult to see, do you mute the G-string when swithcing to the B-string, with fretting hand or picking hand ?
@JbfMusicGuitar2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Peter, good question, I'm not too sure, lol! I think on this guitar I'm probably using my right hand's palm to mute the G string. On a guitar with a less wide fretboard (like a Strat) I'm probably using my left hands index finger - if that makes sense?
@peterbos34872 жыл бұрын
@@JbfMusicGuitar Thanks for the reply, will try index finger. Maybe if I could play it fast enough you can't hear the ghost note of the G-string, lol.
