I had the 2.1 it had the 10" sub too. The highs were crisp and clean and mid / center Chanel sounded great. Better than a lot of 5.1 traditional surround sound systems. I sold it awhile ago, I'm ready for another one and thinking about the 5.1 surround. I want rear channels. I bought a Klipsch 2.1 bar system a few years ago and returned and tried the JBL. I love Klipsch products as much as JBL but I can say the JBL bar 2.1 sounded better than the Klipsch especially with music, and dialogue. I'll probably get the 5.1 surround. Would like an Atmos bar but not ready to drop a stack for one

My projector doesn’t have HDMI ARC. Only optical audio output. If I bought an ATMOS capable sound bar, non of the effects would work, as optical can only support a maximum of 5.1 anyway. I nearly wasted a lot of money and bought a JBL Bar 1000, which is fantastic, but no good for me. This suits my set up, and the older design with the detachable speakers, is going really cheap now. Around $400!

@@deadzombiiee I have owned it for about a year now. It's kind of old tech but it works seamlessly and the bass is the most powerful. More powerful than the one without detachable speakers.

Not sure how you can compare these with the bass turned up to 100 percent, it will be drowning in bass, I have the jbl 3.1 system and has more than enough bass, normally have bass at 50 percent and it’s sounds good, you definitely have bass set to high for this review.

What setting on tv do you choose? Pcm? I found on web that jbl 5.1 doesnt support 5.1 pcm. So any idea to get 5.1 via arc on tv?

You can set ur audio bistream or pcm.. both works and will support 5.1 audio. Though Bar 5.1 do not support 5.1 PCM, it support Dolby digital and basically the same format with little or almost no recognizable output difference via ARC

There might be a couple flaws in this. 1. Using bluetooth diminishes the quality of the music but using Bluetooth on both should equal that out. 2. The surround has chromecast so it should sound better have u tried chromecasting with surrond vs. the original bluetooth? 3. the surrond should be calibrated have you done that? 4 Not to nit pick but that paper on the surrond speaker will muffle sound coming from that tiny spot not big deal but it's just fact

Yeah I don't understand why some people leave the paper on. I love my JBL Bar 5.1 surround and the bass on level 5 at max volume is no joke. I literally had things falling off of my coffee table and it's a heavy coffee table sitting on a rug.

For me jbl 5 .1 surround is Dolby digital , and jbl 5.1 is Dolby Atmos with better range frequency feel.

Hi sir, I just bought my new jbl 51blkep 5.1 home theater. My detachable surround speakers turns off when I plug out of the sound bar. Please tell me what might be the reason. Red light blinks and disappear. Will the surround speakers charges automatically when put them back to the magnetic part of sound bar. Please reply?

@@KULASTECHSHOW20 I got to know bro, The audio system will charge only in standby mode and also we can't charge the the surround speakers from the magnetic soundbar when it is in use. Now I need to search for a micro USB type cable. I hope JBL would have given c-type Charing port. Thank you for the reply.

Try n turn off smart mode of on the. New bar 5.1 surround. It get louder n bass goes crazy heavy. But JBL kept it secretly 😊

5.1 sounds more immersive and can give u that feeling of rear speakers. Plus can produce deeper bass and more powerful sound

The overall sound quality including the bass will be better when HDMI is used compared to BT. You will defenitely get higher bitrate with HDMI that will give you higher quality audio.

The jbl 5.1 bar with detachable speakers is the upgrade from the 3.1. Same tech used, same remote but better quality in terms of surround. The low frequency bass hits hard on this system. I've also had the 5.1 bar surround and i was truly disappointed when playing music. This unit lacks the low frequency bass. Also, the low frequency bass when playing music sounds like it's droning/hollow. I gave the 5.1 bar surround back as i was very disappointed. No eq settings or custom sounds modes was a huge con.

Sony HTS40R is a decent model for a budget 5.1 soundbar. JBL 5.1 detachable surround has the advantage in terms of the technology, surround quality, build and convinience.

@@acedayuta5915 if bass is your top priority then JBL is the one.Because JBL produce a theatrical ambience because of its bass.Sony is more like quality sound which has very good details and bass is balanced.

🙏🙏please help a pawnshop damaged my jbl 3.1 channel in their storage facility and they cant replace with a new one because its now discontinued.they offered to buy me a 5.1 channel so if i choose the one with the detachable speakers do you think um gonna be satisfied as i was with my jbl 3.1channel?? Yes bro. If you will get the 5.1 with detachable speakers, i am telling you that you will like it. Its one of the best of JBL soundbars. Can reach deep levels of bass and the wirelesa surround speakers makes difference when movie mode.

I have a JBL 5.1 and I am disappointed in it. Music sounds not good enough for me, movies more or less ok, but I don't really feel this virtual surround sound. Maybe because of configuration of my living room. I hope 5.1 Surround version will be better, this one I am going to purchase.

Centre channel sucks. Low vocals dialogues. U have to constantly lower and increase the volume to hear dialogues

You can enhance the vocals by turning off the smart mode.... Press and hold the mute button for more than 3 sec and press Vol+ button 👍

Smart mode only turns off simulated surround when rear speakers are attached to the bar. But does not enhance the mid
