The JBL boombox has a great battery life! (I own the HK Go and Play, the JBL Boombox and the Aiwa Exos-9.). The Boombox is used for outdoor parties; the Go and Play for outdoor personal listening and the Aiwa Exos-9 for indoor listening and even bigger outdoor parties (extended battery needed.). All three highly recommended!! Great fun.

Hy Toni ! I 've seen the Jbl boombox , and its 550 E , for what ?! Its bigger , heavier , and more expensive . At half the price the HK is the clear winner although the JBL does sounds a little more powerful . It all comes down to how much you want to spend for that little extra power. Both get the job done very well.

Hey Toni nice to see ya again do you think that if harman kardon would release a boombox would you rather stay with the bass and the treble of the jbl or you would choice the HiFi sound of the Harman ?

Love your reviews, man! Please help me sort out couple of these confusions. So, I'm pretty much into debate, amongst these speakers, Boombox 2 and Hyperboom. Definitely I'm looking for a clear, crispy and most natural sound but then the bass at lower frequencies shouldn't be compensated. Which one do you think can deliver better my needs? let's not bring their prices to the decision! Secondly, it seems here in India, the Hyperboom has gone out of stock, and can't expect it to arrive back, in anytime within 3 months. So, if I go with Boombox 2(owing to its availability better ) , does that seems compensating with the sound quality in any manner? Or should I be biased enough to hold on, until the thing arrives back? Third, does the Boombox 2 really does drop the vocals and that sound signature, around higher volumes, say 80 percent? And lastly, if I were to listen, around 50 percent volume, which one would you suggest to vibe out? Do, you think if I won't make it to Hyperboom, there'd be lot regret about?

Can any one of HK Go owners please help me here? The speaker I got won’t sit still on a flat surface.. the length of the legs are uneven and it wobbles.. I even returned and got a replacement, but the new unit has the same problem. I called HK customer service and they advised to adjust the height with the screw on one leg.. the screw is too small and falls off before it is turned enough to keep the speaker still .. is there anything I am missing here? I am baffled that such a high quality speaker can have such a silly design flaw!! Or did I get two defective units?

You forgot one thing guys, The HK is 200€ (in France) and the Boombox is 500€, For 400€ you can buy 2 Go Play and then, for 400€ you have a stereo sound and save 100€ For 500€ you can buy only one Boombox

i see the problem is we have widely different taste. personally no doubt for me ,hk is way better than jbl boombox in any music genres . i wonder if i can listen to boombox more than 15mins, jbl always sounds aggressively forward, lack of space and detail missing. its very disappoint for that size and price

No comparaison. The boombox is more more louder. I listened to this one this morning. But i listened to the hk go play and it sounds like a hifi system. It's is less louder but with high fidelity and very good for electro, techno, trance music. For a 30 m2 room it's perfect. For a party? Not the boombox, do prefer the Partybox.

Hk go play is all about definition, jbl boombox is all about bass, one is for refined people the other one for kinkies.

The HK is definitely clearer, but I would definitely take the boombox(I already bought 1 for 190£) that battery life(24h) and the water proof daaamn it's amazing at the beach 🏖

If you wanna understand the lyrics on bassboosted songs, then higher volume harman is better here, plus it pushes enough bass for the song to seem nice. Boombox is like BmmmBmmmBmmm and lyrics are like * whispers * In my oppinion the HK is better because for a budget person you can get pretty much the same powerful speaker with a lil minor minuses to it like smaller battery life and its non-waterproofness but as a budget person those dont bother me :)

jbl=random kids who likes to party and boosts volume of the speaker to its highest level dont care how it sounds. harman kardon=audiophile listeners who pays attention to every detail in music lows,mids,highs,soundstage,imaging and etc.

Something you may or may not know is that Harman has purposely decreased the bass to get better battery life. So when you plug in Xtreme, Xtreme 2, HK GP M or Boombox there will be a significant difference in sound. Except the Xtreme it only help boost the bass a bit.

The funny thing is that Harman Kardon and JBL belong to the same company.

Die HK klingt einfach viel besser. Das Einzige was die Boombox hat ist viel Bass, aber der Rest klingt wie ein 30€ Lautsprecher. Außerdem tun die Höhen in den Ohren weh von der Boombox. Für 500€ absoluter Müll. Der Boomster XL ist viel besser für den Preis.

which speaker shall i buy? my budget is $150

Who the hell is willing to carry a speaker the size of the boombox, braven xl or aiwa exos 9 around town on a daily basis? These are very niche speakers and unless you really need it (if you teach dance or if you havê a dance crew). I do not doubt that the boombox sounds wonderfull but the harman kardon go play barely fits in a backpack already and costs half, sometines a 1/3 of the price of the boombox. Spending 500/600 euros on something so cumbersome to carry around is a act of pure stupidity unless you reeeeeeally need it. I havê a xtreme and a go play 2016 by the way and i already feel they are barely portable. I get the geeky and cool side of tech but after of couple of days mostra buyers are going to realize this is mostly a speaker to keep at home.
