I repair my brother's broken 2016 JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speaker. Including a battery replacement, cleaning of the fabric cover, and plastic welding to retain water resistance.

I really liked how you restored the cracked plastic. I heard that backing power and superglue works wonder too. I have a BOSE SoundLink Mini II and the sound is amazing too. Really nice bass. Surprising how much bass these tiny things can produce!

Thanks! Backing power? You mean baking powder? What does that do, never heard of that combination before, intrigued.

@@RestoreTechnique Oh sorry, yes, baking powder :) In combination with superglue you can fill holes and (more importantly) replace broken off pieces of plastic. EDIT: Wow, so many typos. I should leave a voice message instead!

Still rocking my Charge 3 been solid, I'm sure the battery could use a preemptive replacement at this point it doesn't hold quite the charge it used to but still completely functional. Good to know it actually comes apart and goes back together really nicely if you have some finesse.

That sure is a neat way to fix that those cracks on plastic. If it were me I would have to run down to the store for some superglue or plastic epoxy. 😅

I've got a JBL Charge 2+ that's still going strong and I like it. What I *don't* recommend are the Oontz Angle speakers from Cambridge Soundworks. Their water resistance is inferior and the circuit board inside corrodes past the point of repair. I bought 3 different models over the course of a year, and 2 of them failed within weeks of each other (total life span of about 3 - 3.5 years).

Same problem with my charge 3 swollen batt...and cracked up screw holes in the batt cover, I used crazy glue but will have to strengthen with plastic welding. I can't afford a new batt...when it's imported into my country Trinidad it'll cost around $700.00 TT dollars plus customs and other fees. 😣 I have no other choice but to play it with batt... attached and hanging outside of case. Stuff a piece of cloth in one end to get good base. Such is life for some.

How's the replacement battery so far? I'm thinking of getting the original brand (Greatpower) but since mine got swollen in just 2 years, I'm also considering the cameron sino brand.

Hey I bought a battery replacement on Amazon and I used the brand takoci and it just doesn’t charge no sign of battery life when I plug it in and I get a red light when I plug it on the charger. Any suggestions?

@Restore Technique just checked, the distorted one is on the left-hand hand side (battery connector side) The speaker itself doesn't have any torn and all connections are fine. The battery itself also looks and works fine to me.

Great work of art, only small downside there is no automatic translator on this video it's a bit of a shame even if there isn't much dialogue otherwise well done I still said to myself that the color would be better after washing, we would have to find a way to re-dye the hull.... A little Hello from France... And for DIY, a little bravo!!! for you Génial un travail d'orfèvre seul petit bémol il n'y a pas de traducteur automatique sur cette vidéo c'est un peu dommage même s'il n'y a pas beaucoup de dialogue sinon bravo je me suis quand même dit que la couleur allait être mieux après un lavage faudrait trouver un moyen pour reteinter la coque .... Un petit Bonjour de France ... Et pour le bricolage un petit bravo !!! pour vous

Man I have the same problem on my speaker...but the plastic battery case is so cracked that i cant repair it...where i can get new...please tell me if you know🙏🙏...btw awesome video✌

Thankyou 😄 I don't know where to get a new one sorry, I didn't have to look for it. You might have to get one 3D printed, but that's unlikely to be cost effective if you don't design it yourself.

If the light turns on then what makes you say it's "dead"? Does it connect to Bluetooth when fully charged?

@@RestoreTechnique it's not charging, only the light is on. when it is connected to the charging cable, the light is on but. not using bluetooth

There could be a number of things causing this. It's really hard to give advice without seeing the issue. I don't offer a repair service, but if you send a photo to my instagram I may offer some advice.

JBL when a new battery cost $25 U buy new one :) found 3 these Bluetooth speakers- a bit of work & recharging got em all working - Now i,m thinking can i remove the Bluetooth and put on my PC desktop speakers ! one i found in a park was dropped kicked seen it lying there for a month i finally took it and repaired it works whenever the Bluetooth wants to connect from my PC :) windows10 karens - 2022 from June + we fooked your NBN connection how you like that one people 1 day L8tr working it out unistall wifi drivers etc reboot nope wifi card back in turn off modem 30secs works again WTF is wrong with Microsoft ? Leave win10 Alone was working perfect B4 your june updates Grrrrowl
