This surprisingly answered all my questions about the full range mode capabilities. My only gripe is that it sounds way too boomy by itself (no subwoofer) and also that causes a lack of headroom. 8” speakers in a small cabinet doesn’t sound all that good with a ton of low frequency content.

Because I've had several inquires about connecting the Behringer sub.... Here is how I did it. 1. The sub absolutely needs to be powered, so it needs to have it's own power plug plugged into a working 110 power receptacle. I'm using a basic 3-pin XLR (male) -to- 1/4" TRS (male) cable. I'm using one of these for the powered sub and one for the powered monitor. For the Microphone I'm using a 3-pin XLR (male) -to- a 3-pin XLR (female). Behringer Sub connections: 1. The 3-pin XLR plug = plugs into the "Input A" on the Behringer sub. 2. The 1/4" TRS plug = plugs into the "Subwoofer Output" jack on the Eon208P. Setting on the rear of the sub: Boost = ON Boost frequency = 90Hz High Cut = 150Hz Level = +6 Phase = Rev I hope this helps. :-D

What cable did you use, and did you use 1 or 2 and which inputs on the Behringer did you connect. This is a veryuseful video. I've searched around and even called JBL but could not get a straightforward answer.

Sorry for the incredibly delayed reply. I'm using a 3-pin XLR (in the Sub input) and the other end is a 1/4" TRS male plug which plugs into the "Sub out" jack on the EON208. So the 1/4" TRS plugs into the "Subwoofer Output" jack on the Eon208. The XLR plugs into the "Input A" on the Behringer sub. Setting on the rear of the sub: Boost = ON Boost frequency = 90Hz High Cut = 150Hz Level = +6 Phase = Rev

Just bought this. Great review!! It looks like you had to crank your Behringer sub to max volume, is that right? My Alto 18 inch 2000 watt sub, I had to MAX out the volume to get "okay" level on the sub. It seems like the subwoofer out level on the JBL 208p is pretty wimpy, do you agree?
@designsbylemayvideo2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the room acoustics. I do crank my sub to max volume at my house with bass boost turned on, but when I bring the system to my friend's house, we turn off the bass boost. His room gets too "boomy" with everything turned way up. I hope this helps. :-)

Great video, very informative 👍 does JBL ideally recommend this product for a specific hall/room size? Will this be ideal for a hall size if 40' x 20'? I know I can connect my Shure wireless condenser mic (clip-on for Sax) receiver to one of the 4 channels but need to know will I need to turn on phantom power for that channel?
@designsbylemayvideo4 жыл бұрын
Room size: yes... It has worked perfectly well in a 35x 24 room for us (with sub), so I don't see why it wouldn't work in a 40x20. It really depends on the mic, but I would think with it being a condenser microphone, then power of some sort should be used. With it being a wireless microphone, it probably has its own power source (batteries or power cable) so in that case no, it shouldn't need phantom power. I would try it without phantom power 1st, and if that sounds good, use it without phantom. I would check with the manufacturer of your particular microphone for the best answer to that question.

This is a great review. Thanks. I have one (stupid) question. Can you hook this to a tv (and how, if you can)? Can you have 5 speakers (+1 or 2 subs) working out of this or could you with added equipment?
@kenkoyamaentertainment52869 ай бұрын
Depending on your TV either connect it via RCA cables to the L/R inputs (I think it's channel 5/6?) ... If your TV doesn't have an RCA audio out you will need to get a DAC. TV >>>DAC>>>PA. I think you can hook up as many Powered speakers by daisy chaining them. For adding multiple subs you will need to split the signal by getting a cable for that. Hope this helps.

@pyaephyo35543 жыл бұрын
Hello. I am just wondering if it is any good for music listening purpose only, especially EDM, rock, etc. How is it compare to JBL boombox 2 or partybox 300?
@designsbylemayvideo2 жыл бұрын
It depends if you're just listening to music or if you're looking for an audiophile setup. Compared to my Martin Logan Motion 30's--- The JBL is louder, but not near as good quality. This is designed to be a "PA loud speaker" system which means it will carry sound for further distances and be really loud so while the sound quality isn't near as good as high end stereo speakers at lower volumes..... It sure does get loud. Whenever people come over for Karaoke and I just have music playing through it before we get to singing, they always say the system sounds really good, but I'm a bit picky when it comes to listening to records to just chill. In that case I prefer more of an audiophile speaker. So to sum it up.... If you need something to get loud that sounds good, this is good. If you're looking for an audiophile experience then a dedicated stereo is better. I haven't listened to the 2 speakers you've mentioned, but I would assume this sounds better?

Would these work well for starting a small karaoke business to play for corporate events and perhaps a small restaurant venue? I have a mixer but these seem portable enough. Just worried they may not be loud enough. Would a subwoofer be recommended?
@designsbylemayvideo2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the size of the venue. Just playing music, it is really loud but with karaoke you need to adjust the volume to mix well with the mic. Unfortunately, some people don't understand that they need to sing "into" the microphone and hold it way away from their face.. lol. When we sing I usually mix volumes for each singer to match the volume of their vocals. I on the other hand am really loud so I can crank the music. Hahahaha.

@designsbylemayvideo4 жыл бұрын
I would make sure of a couple basic things first. 1. The volume is up on both the channel you're plugged into (above where mic or instrument cable is plugged into), as well as the main volume in the upper right corner. 2. If using a guitar or other device, make sure the volume is turned up on that device as well as on the unit. Also be sure the mic/line button is set to line. 3. If using a mic, make sure the mic/line button is set to mic and make sure the mic is turned on. ONLY use phantom power if using a condenser mic with no other power source otherwise, keep phantom power turned OFF. 4. If using Bluetooth input, make sure the volume is also turned up on the device (ie. phone, tablet, etc) 5. Make sure the unit is plugged into a working power source and that the speakers are plugged into the rear of the unit. You cannot plug the included JBL speakers into the (monitor output) front of the unit. The included passive JBL speakers must be plugged into the rear of the unit. If using other powered (active) speakers (purchased separately) those powered speakers can NOT be plugged into the rear of the unit. Powered speakers MUST be plugged into the front of the unit. How to tell if the speakers are powered? If there is a power cable and volume knob on the speaker, it's powered. If all is correct, check the level meter (next to the main volume knob). Is it lighting up? If so, and there still isn't any sound, then the inputs and devices are most likely working properly. This means there may be something wrong with the speakers (unlikely), speaker cables (possible but probably not both at same time), or the unit itself. If you're tried all of this and it still won't work, It's time to make a warranty claim. :-( I hope this helps

It totally depends on the atmosphere you are trying to create. Lol. If you are wanting to use it for background music, it would do fine. If you are wanting a 100 person outdoor dance floor, this would not work at all. Even with the additional sub I'm using, it just wouldn't be loud enough. If the latter is what you're looking to do, I would either look for a different system all together, or use this system with lots of additional powered speakers and a huge powered sub.

Im interested in the use of the monitor. I am a singer, and we play to backing tracks. I also play guitar, and my friend plays guitar as well. What am I monitoring? if I am outputting to 2 powered monitors, what am I hearing? just a stereo sound of everything? Im thinking I would like to hear myself singing and my guitar in my monitor, and Im thinking my friend would like to hear his guitar in his monitor. IS that something we can do with monitor output? Any help is appreciated.
@designsbylemayvideo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Monty. You are correct in assuming you will hear an entire mix through the monitor. Unfortunately with this particular setup, there's no way to differ the sound you hear out of the monitor form the house speakers. If you are wanting to hear more vocals (than the audience can hear) through your monitor, you may need an additional mixer board, or an entirely different system. If you have a mixer board with 2 output volumes per channel ( Aux & main level). That way you can set the amount of volume per individual channel that is sent to the Aux (monitor) and to the Level (main mix). I was just researching an affordable option (with Bluetooth) for my buddy and the Peavey PV 10BT is what I came up with. With this mixer, you would then need to use all powered speakers (instead of the EON208). Powered monitors, powered sub, as well as 2 powered forward facing speakers. I sure hope this helps!
