F5 = a bit more mid range and deep bass. F4 = overall more clean sound and wider sound stage. My opinion: I would rather like F4 than F5.

It seems to me, that Flip 5 sounds bigger and not so harsh, as flip 4.

I've spent a while blind testing myself to these, and I keep changing my mind. At first, I didn't like the flip 5 so much because I'm not a fan of Bass before everything else. But on the other hand, the flip 4 has some noticeable tinny highs and also doesn't have a powerful enough bass even if the flip 4 does have a more balanced frequency response. As for the features I have a microphone and aux input on my current speaker that I don't use. I do sometimes use the USB slot to charge my phone but I can use my portable charger for that anyway. In conclusion, I'd be happy with either but as of right now I think I'm leaning towards flip 5, whereas before I was leaning towards flip 4.

No need for the upgrade if u own a jbl flip 4. Still sounds par with the newer flip 5.

Tkx for the comparison. JBL Flip 4 and I am very happy with the microphone built in and 3.5mm audio aux input connector also the fact it has dual driver did it towards Flip 4.

nice review dude i bought a blue flip 4 just before the annunciation day of flip 5. i felt disappointed first but i saw the connect plus feature was cut and they used a mono speaker instead of stereo speakers. they removed aux input too. i like using my flip 4 with my laptop which doesnt have bluetooth function. then a friend of mine bought a black flip 5 on amazon a week ago. we tried both at same volume levels and i can clearly say flip 5 screws it up at mid tones and soundstage was narrow while flip 4 handles very well but clearly lacks bass at very low frequencies. yesterday he said that there is noticably less excursion at right passive radiator( the jbl logo one)than the left one just like his pulse 3. i dont know if charge 4 does that but it looks awkward if you look very close. in my opinion flip 5 has more bass but less treble and terrible mid performance and flip 4 has balanced sound which has less bass than flip 5. i dont believe there is 4w power difference. i think jbl just made some eq settings on flip 5. after all these i think i will stick with my flip 4

You guy can put the flip 4 into low frequency mode for more bass but holding both the Bluetooth button and the volume down at the same time till the battery light turns red

I prefer the sound of the Flip 5, so I ordered that. Also, the features they eliminated from the Flip 5 that are in the Flip 4 aren't features that I would use anyway--so no problem there.

Had a flip 4 for about 2years and won’t be changing it any time soon do a 5. I think the 4 is better my opinion of course ✌🏻

Flip 4 has more "attack" while the Flip 5 is a bit smoother/duller on heavier sounding music. I like the dual driver of the 4.

What should you review is, if it last long? Are you buying the product at a fair price? I had this experience in my JBL flip4, last 2days ago I noticed that the sound gets distorted when only 1battery indicator light remain, and if I let it rest for a minute when you turn it on it indicates 3battery indicator light and if I charge it it starts on the 3rd indicator light, charges quick and drains out quick too. Its price in the market when I bought it was Php7,000.00 (Philippine peso), do you think it's just right to throw that kind amount of money on a product that deteriorates just after a year?

With the pairing incompatibility, lack of speaker phone ability, and no audio jack, even though the Flip 5 sounds slightly better, it's not worth paying$100, if you already own the Flip 4! Go with Flip 5, if you don't own Flip 4! You're right!, as over generations, JBL has constantly increased the size of their Charge Series as well! Maybe the bigger the container, the more sound gets to move through the radiators? Truly speculation!

I can definitely relate when you say that it might have better bass because of the size of the speaker, it’s like the jbl charge 3 and flip 5, they both have 20 watts but the charge 3 is louder with more bass.

To me I heard the mono and stereo difference asap it's not all that deal breaking but it's definitely noticable

I will just be sticking with the flip 4 because it has connect+ up to 100 speakers so rooms will be able to have surround sound, and having the headphone jack.

I'm so glad I bought my Flip 4 today! For less than 60 bucks is an amazingly price! I can't wait to hear this little beast :) But missing an audio jack is instantly KO for the Flip 5 in my eyes!

I bought flip 4 in 2018.now feeling happy Bcoz I made a good move.

I have the JBL charge 3 I've had it since about 6 months after it came out & I'm still using it, battery lasts a long ass time n' bumps nicely 4 the size. I don't use it too often but I'm surprised at how good the 🔋 lasting & sound quality 5* imo is amazing but now I might get the flip 4 or flip 5 have to find out which 1 is better $40 difference in price 🤔 because I heard the charge 3 is better than the charge 4

The bass of the flip 5 is honestly worth it. Get two if you really want stereo, besides then it will become true stereo as the drivers aren’t placed so close together, in fact the JBL app lets you do set it up in partyboost

i notice the flip 5 has a deeper cleaner bass and of course louder audio i’ve wanted a flip 5 but i don’t like the party boost feature so i can’t connect with me charge 4 so i want as of now a flip 4 but i will get the flip 5 for better audio and bass

Since I don't have any JBL products now, so the party boost is not a real issue for me, but but but I still prefer the aux for some specific situations. That's why I ’m still hesitating to bug two flip5 in order to make stereo mode

Awesome video, as always! The sound test clearly shows that the Flip 4 has a little more "even" sound signature, with strong mids and clear highs but lacking a bit of the punch that the Flip 5 offers. The wider sound stage of the Flip 4 isn't really audible, so I can't say too much about it. But of course, it should be obvious that a dual driver offers a better seperation than a single/mono driver. So, apart from the slightly stronger bass, the Flip 4 is superior in virtually EVERY aspect. If this is the route JBL is taking from now on, the Flip 4 was the last speaker I ever bought from this company!

It does suck that the flip 5 loses the aux jack, but folks there is a remedy for that they are called bluetooth transmitters you can plug into the non-bt devices. I have to keep reminding myself of that fact too! I am happy to lose the mic though I hate that function. Going from stereo to mono also does not bother me for while at work my speaker is usually off-axis to me. I just need room filling sound and JBL does that well. Coming from a Charge 3 and 4 owner.

Yes the cut the money costs on the speaker because of extra driver and the microphone because a little bit extra so it makes it a lot cheaper for them to produce multiple locations of the same device but charge you more for it lol

Bigger is for better baterry amount. The mono speaker is on purpose to have connect+.

As per the budget, Flip 4 wins as it has got for options for connecting multiple speakers, a clear stereo sound as well as a microphone for answering calls

I got the Flip 5. Flip 4 is no longer available in my country. it was only sold by the third-party, no warranty. Flip 5 gonna be my first jbl product (still on shipping). hopefully it's gonna be good.

Hearing this in flip 4 ....yeah its better and can produce the same deepness as filp 5 but at a lower volume

I was thinking that they did away with aux input was so they could do away with the flap you have to open on the flip 4 to access charging and aux. I don’t know if it’s possible to make a micro USB port exposed and waterproof like they have done with the usb c. As for the lack of stereo, that’s disappointing but I wouldn’t have even known had I not looked up the differences between the two speakers. Flip 4 seems to have a better balance between highs and lows but the flip 5 still sounds really good and has better lows. I own the charge 3 but the micro USB port is busted so it takes me 15 minutes to get the cable seated where it will actually charge. The flip 5 will be replacing it.

Guys flip 5 has 20 w output so the sound is louder and clear. Also the bass is better than the flip 4. At the record you can't recognise any deference. I have them both and flip 5 is better...
