WOW!! what an amazing review. The best review I have ever seen on a product ever. Most reviewers really ever talk about the features and looks but yours certainly went in depth in nuances of sound quality which I always look for in headphones. I found integrity in your presentation and your extensive in-depth knowledge really shows particularly with this product. I am not an audiophile but know what I am looking for in sound, so certainly I learnt many new things by your review and how to better use my headphones. I just only discovered JBL a week ago and bought the 710's, I then upgraded to 720's within a few days as I was chasing more quality in depth of sound like '3D' sound surround, bass and clarity. A week later I discovered the 770NC which I thought were far superior headphones. Amazing clarity and soundstage. I love loudness in headphones and these had what I was looking for in comparison to the 710/720. A day later I discovered these 770NC LIVE, a newer version. I am now waiting for them to be delivered. I was hesitant in ordering them as I could find no online review on comparison of sound quality between the 770NC and 770NC Live and spec and features seem to be identical regards sound quality. Having watched your review, I can't wait to get them as I think they will give that extra superior sound quality. I would appreciate your view on the difference in sound quality in the 770NC and 770NC LIVE as the spec seems to be the same. Once again, amazing and above and beyond review. Thank you.
@PaulsPOV10 ай бұрын
I haven't reviewed the Tune 770NC sadly, but from my understanding of JBL products, their Live series is built a little more premium and the tuning for sound is a little bit truer, where as the Tune Series tends to lean more towards being more colored, especially in the bass. No doubt, they'll also throw in more features for the Live series since they're making it to be a more premium product. Let me know how it stands up to your 720 & 710. I'm keen to know.
@sophiamalik79099 ай бұрын
Hi Paul I just got the 770NC LIVE and definitely a much warmer, more rounded feel in sound then the TUNE 770NC I get the soundstage and 'boom' surround sound I have been looking for. I am glad the loudness is no more then it is as anything more will be detrimental to my hearing as my last headphones had 57mm drivers. For me, the 770NC Tune were a better fit, but with this sound quality that becomes a secondary consideration. These would be excellent for a cinematic experience. I think their App is quite limited though. Anyway thanks for your review, it helped massively all round.
@PaulsPOV9 ай бұрын
The few spatial audio options the app has do enhance your experience with movies and games. I didn't like it too much when it came to music listening. It's certainly a feature people will enjoy with other forms of media. Enjoy your new headphones 😊

@PaulsPOV10 ай бұрын
I found the clamping force to be comfortable over longer listening sessions. I suppose a difference in head size would contribute towards the tightness. Expanding the headband should contribute towards lesser tension over the ears, though.

Just a last one question, my friend: as you can use them powered on while wired, can you keep in app's EQ adjustmemts working while wired? I read a costumer saying you can't but makes not much sense since you should have DSP going on as well as ANC capabilities.
@PaulsPOV9 ай бұрын
I'd recommend leaving them on while wired. I think I've mentioned this in my review. When they're off, they turn into a very boring set to listen to. Having them on keep the DSP on so it's better to keep it on while listening oj a wire for certain. While it's on and on wire, you can play with EQs from the device you're listening from since plugging a cable into the headphones switches the BT off.

Oh that's nice... That means when we keep the adaptive noise cancellation on then another person also doesn't feel noise around our voice... Right ? And my other question was, if we are listening to other person's voice then can this model filter out unnecessary sounds(noise) and we hear only other person's voice ??
@PaulsPOV7 ай бұрын
The Adaptive Noise Canceling works to benefit you directly. The environmental noise canceling works to benefit how clear you'll sound to your recipients. The ENC algorithm engages on all phone calls, and you can't control it. The quality of the persons voice you are speaking to will depend on their environment aswell as their microphone quality.

@PaulsPOV7 ай бұрын
The XM4 is a personal favorite for me. I've used it for many flights and some editing on cable. Feel free to watch my review on it if you haven't already. ANC wise, it's superior to these JBLs, but soundwise you can expect diminishing returns on a wireless front. It is noticeable for sure, though. Wired audio consumption, the XM4 very clearly has superior drivers than these JBLs.

If you have XM4 budget, I'd recommend it. I've had a set for over 2 years and it's going strong. No sound leak from either of these if you play them at decent volume levels, but yea. The XM4 is a terrific set of headphones to use and own.

Amazing Review! I got them as my birthday presents and unfortunately had issues on PC when I'm doing two things at the same time (either Discord + Game, Game + Music or Discord + Videos (KZfaq)). The sound seems really weird, it either gets down, then up randomly, gets muffled, or just refuses to work (for example, if I'm on a Discord call with friends and starting a game, I won't have the game sound at all).
@PaulsPOV2 ай бұрын
Oh, that's really weird. Try doing a factory reset from the JBL Headphones app. If that doesn't sort it out, it's worthwhile connecting with customer care about this issue. They might have a fix or an explanation as to why this is happening.

What is the maximum time I can wear headphones comfortably? Will it cause pain if I listen to a podcast for two hours straight?
@PaulsPOV16 күн бұрын
Two two four hours should be fine. I wear glasses so longer than that can put pressure on the stems, which can get uncomfortable if worn for longer, with any headphones really. These do have a softer clamping force and have soft pads, so don't really create much of an issue soon.
@leone26338 ай бұрын
These headphones feel uncomfortable on my ears? What should I do? Did I put them on wrong or will I get used to them over time?
@PaulsPOV8 ай бұрын
If you've adjusted the headband to suit you and it still feels uncomfortable, try wearing them for a little while for a listening session. If you don't get used to it, there's no point holding onto headphones you're not comfortable with.
@ashaanand492Ай бұрын
All your reviews for these headphones are super helpful. I just have one query and really hoping you or someone here can clarify. When I'm on a work call, while the recipient will get the benefit of ANC/ENC, how will my environment sound to me if I'm talking on a work call, that is, on unmute? Right now, I'm using on the ear headphones but I can hear all the noise in my environment and distracts me if I'm talking over a call. Will Voice aware mode in these headphones help?
@PaulsPOVАй бұрын
To put it simply, ANC is active noise canceling, which caters to only you. When it's on, it cuts off noise around you, and you can play around with it in the app like I've shown in the chapter about sound. ENC is environmental noise canceling, which only engages when you're on a call. This only benefits your recipient. It cancels out the noise around you as best it can to carry your voice over to your recipient as clearly as possible. Voice Aware boosts your own voice to you via the headphones when you're on a call. Some people prefer this, and some don't. If you want to know how your recipient will hear you during an office call or phone call, I've provided a demo of this in the chapter about call quality. That should give you a good sense of how you'll be heard when there's noise around you when you're on a call. ENC is to thank there.

After a perfect experience with Bose Quiet Comfort 35II, I have a less perfect experience with the Bose NC700 and the QC45 namely when on the telephone with my mom but also almost anybody else, the QC45 is the worst. People can only hear me as if I’m far away from the mic, muffled and the connection stops sending altogether whenever there is no direct line between phone and headphones (so I’ll sometimes loose sound/connection for a second or longer when I turn my head) or 😮 I have an arm or hand or whatever within like, 6 inches or 15cm, every time I do that, people will interrupt me that my voice fell away again and I realize I had moved my hand or arm again. Or even, when having my phone around my neck, when I bent forward a tad too much and my, apparently very frequency disruptive, body will be blocking the connection somehow. Never could listen to the radio on my own (I’m from the pre-digital radio stations era lol) but my phones and headphones really do suffer. I hate that Apple seems to be better at overcoming that disrupting quality of my body, I find it too expensive for what is is and customer service is not exactly good or positive either but ever since my husband -after realizing I never complained about my ipod touch which essentially did everything that the iphone did except calling- he had enough and kinda forced me towards my first iphone. And weirdly enough indeed, ever since, I don’t have to take about 3 to 5 trips to the customer support with my cell phone. All previous brands after my very first cell phone (Phillips Ozeo, year 2001 lol) died, have had me needing to get the phone checked, reset or whatever else, multiple times each year. HTC One was the worst, that was 5 times in one year and 2 more the second year until the electric devices store I bought it from (so not an HTC store), had had enough and they actually gave me back a full refund for both that phone AND the case, after they lost any belief that HTC really did had the resets and hardware exchanged and all done what they had said that they had done. I hated the moment I “had” to switch to smartphones because it was only way more reason such a device could glitch so had a general, non-smart cell phone for the longest time. But weirdly enough, Apple doesn’t glitch as much, even with my very, very extensive use of it (I need music in my life so the thing had it’s work to do and at the beginning I even went without installing other apps just to not let it have to much to glitch over lol). Ever since I discovered NC headphones, my PtSD and anxiety had kinda amped up usage of my headphones that I kinda start liveing with the headphones one sometimes even 24/7 on the worst moments where I could only sleep with them on (audio or audiobooks) and even just the NC on its own. Needless to say, my headphones live harsh, hard and long lives condensed in a two year life expectancy. But the latest 2 headphones esch got worse in the being able to have calls with them -department. So now, as my QC35II is on its last days, I really need to find a headphone good enough to be able to rely on the NC, have good enough sound quality because I do have hearing loss, both born hearing loss and gained (these types of hearing loss apparently are situated on a different part of the ear, inner ear vs middle ear, they discovered that I had to be born with at least part of the hearing loss after a test with a tuning fork, which they did for the first time in my life after I was already in my 30’s. It’s like a sort of bone conduction (but rather from the front between the eyes and the bridge of the nose) so I’m quite curious whether those kind of headphones would work on me or not but will never invest in them after testing that out, just putting this bit of information out there for others with hearing loss interested in bone conduction headphones. But, I just wanted to say a big thank you for the mic section, as this is the main reason for me needing yet again another headphone. I have almost always been very satisfied with JBL and was very disappointed they didn’t have a NC over ear headphones at the time which had steered me into Bose. Well, I wasn’t really into those, didn’t really like the sound quality all that much and found it too expensive but had gotten my first (and best) headphones as a very spoiled birthday present (knowing the importance of me having my music on hand and the extent of my usage of headphones, my husband just asked for the best one at the shop and they had recommended that one to him, the seller loving that one himself out of all he’d been able to try out). I so hope this one will be sufficient enough at least for the calls but that ability to try out some different settings is a nice bonus!
@PaulsPOV4 ай бұрын
I hope this one works out for you too! The call test is something I like to do since a lot of people do seem to want to know about it.
@leenb.79364 ай бұрын
@@PaulsPOV thanks. And indeed, it is very exhausting for my mother when I call with the other 2 and we are both chronically ill with chronic pain so we depend far more on those long calls each day than normal people would call (both in length of the calls and the frequency). I ordered this one and tested yesterday and she said she even heard me better than my previous best one/only good one so that was a victory 🥳 But today, I lost the connection to our call after 27 minutes in to the call and when I called back after that, suddenly I sounded far away like with those other headphones?! Weird… very weird… I have disconnected the second device, no difference. After that I switched most auto sense functions off (hope my general name for all those fancy functions isn’t too confusing) and after that I sounded good again. I have no idea what influenced what exactly, will need to do some testing. I could turn this one in without any problems but if it’s just me needing to understand which features to focus on instead of this particular headset malfunctioning, I’m gonna keep having that problem. I have a full month to test without the risk of the shop not taking it back (even if I just don’t like the color, great customer service). But anyway, first I thought the TalkThru function was malfunctioning because I assumed that would be for me being better heard during calls but now I’m thinking that function is more for being able to hear someone speaking to you in person, in the same space as where you are, rather than optimizing the call. Up until a decade ago I was intuitively good with tech, now it’s like a foreign language beyond my grasp (and I’m studying Japanese for example so it’s not that I’m beyond able to get a grasp on languages). I fear AI will not be a friend of mine, if all these things like headphones and smartphones are getting so many more options because despite having saved up the money, I truly dread having to switch to a new phone although I need to reset my current one more and more frequently 😂
@PaulsPOV4 ай бұрын
You're right about the Talk Thru mode. It's for being able to hear people around you talking to you while your headphones are on, it's not for calls. The call issue you faced could also be if you're around many devices with Bluetooth on or wifi. Many gadgets on emitting multiple frequencies could possibly disrupt your connection to your phone. But keep testing since you have a large return window. If this doesn't work out for you, listen to my call demo of the JBL Live Pro2. It's a set of earphones but manages vocal tonal quality quite well on calls. If you're okay with earphones, they are a nice set.

Do you know why mine aren’t connecting to my Samsung tv ? Every set of headphones I get connect but these aren’t, it’s showing when I search for it, but then it doesn’t connect and says ‘make sure device is on’ when it is still on 😒

Strange. It's worthwhile connecting with customer care if you've already tried a reset on the headphones and it still doesn't connect.

It goes off if you plug it into charge while using it. Manufacturers usually do this as a precaution, which explains the short charging cable provided with it.

I think iFi makes some good DAC/Amps that should cost around 7-8k from HeadphoneZone. If you do have a DAC/Amp, consider the Beyerdynamic DT900PROX. I wouldn't recommend loud music listening over long periods of time if you intend on preserving your hearing, but if the seal is good, I'll most likely only leak post 90-100% and others might hear it in quiet environments.

Hey....what is your opinion of choosing between oppo air 3 pro and jbl tune 770 NC .....i already have a pair of tws earbuds....it's not the best in class....but it is enough for watching movies and songs.....but the only problem is it doesn't connect with my laptop.....so i wanted to buy a new device......but now i am confused that should i go for oppo air 3 pro or jbl tune 770 NC....both are available for 5000.... good sound quality is the main priority and also good battery life,ANC,and other features are needed...my main usage is watching movies and listening songs.....which one should i buy in your opinion?headphones or tws earbuds?....pls reply

Hey im am using the oppo enco air 3 pro in my experience so far is in terms of sound is very good but my only complaint with it is the ANC suppose im sitting in my living room n someone else is use the TV n if im using the ANC it excludes the bass n mids but amplifies the highs n it is kinda irritating while watching videos or while riding the bike the ANC amplifies the wind so i prefer keeping the ANC on the OFF setting n that seems to solve my problem Sound quality - if ur a bass head who likes bloated boosted bass then u might not like these Highs - 9/10 Mids - 9/10 Bass -7/10 If ur listening to bass boosted music then the bass is good the bass is there its just the right amount of bass for me i used to use the oneplus buds pro b4 these the bass is better there but oneplus buds r not reliable as they loose their battery life in a few months For music u want something then go for oppo enco air 3 pro n for movies go with some good headphones as surround sound is processed better with headphones i am also looking to buy theJBL tune 770nc just want to here it b4 buying it

I haven't reviewed the JBL Tune 770NC, so I can't really comment on it. But usually, headphones sound bigger thanks to a larger driver. Battery life will also be superior. The air 3 pro has pretty good ANC so it might be better on that front alone.
