Hello, I installed the JBL Pro Connect App on my Smartphone and desperatly tried everything to connect via Bluetooth in the Setting Menu => BT Audio Pairing of my JBL EON ONE MK2 but always got the failure message. I was about to give up and I decided to try the second Step from your last year's: Settings => BT Control Pairing and it actually worked. What a relief!!!! Don't know if it was only luck. Anyway, I used my JBL EON ONE MK2 with 2 guitars and two microphones so I don't really need the Audio Pairing to listen to music. The JBL Pro Connect "Dashboard" works great for me at the moment and I hope it will stay like this for the semi-amateur and semi-pro I am. Thank you Aaron for the video you posted last year! I bought my JBL EON ONE MK2 end of may this year and I could have never used it without that video.

I agree with you on the app. But the way I used my PRX1'S I kinda set them up to sound a certain way and haven't really changed them for djing events. But that being said I also run them through a mixer and controller. It been a while since I have tried to use the app. I need to try again. But I love the performance of the PRX1'S. But for singer song writer's I can't see where it is a great disadvantage. Thanks for the update. I will definitely try the app again and see if I see any changes.

Thank you for posting this Aaron. I have been SO disappointed in the JBL app. I consider myself a professional, and the February firmware update ended up making me look like an amateur. I finally bought a mixer as a work around. Love the hardware, always have. Been a long time JBL customer, but they’ve made me very cautious with this last fiasco. Heck, the previous firmware, though not perfect, worked better! Anyway, let’s hope that July 31st makes us all happy! 6 months is WAY too long to wait for a fix.

Thank you so much for posting this update, Aaron. The app is as horrid as it ever was. Given the amount of time that has passed, without any update to the app (I updated the speaker firmware to 5.1.5 about a week ago) suggests that JBL has no intention of investing any resources in improving this utter shit show of an app. It is very buggy, and takes a full 18 seconds to reconnect when it drops out. It is so stress inducing in a live show that it feels like this monstrosity was created with malicious intent. It certainly doesn’t suggest JBL cares one jot about the end user (read: customer). The hardware is stellar, but there seems to be a chasm (disconnect is too mild a word) between their hardware and software integration divisions.

You str absolutely correct about the app. I have a new mackie thump go and the app for that works great so JBL needs to step up their game . Fortunately for me I was able to get my PRX's for a good price because someone was probably mad with the app. The hardware and PRX software on the speaker is solid so the app is not a major problem for me. On 7/31/2023, with high hopes, I updated my JBL Pro Connect app, and the firmware on my PRX One. There have been a few nice enhancements to the app, however it still suffers from a significant delay in reconnecting (15 seconds +) when the BT connection gets dropped (ie when the user brings another app to the foreground, or the device sleeps). It appears that in order for the speaker to stay connected to the app, the app must stay active in the foreground, and the device is set to never sleep, e.g. a device must be dedicated to just running the JBL Pro Connect app. Otherwise, it’s a pretty decent app. At gigs I function as both performer and sound engineer. During setup I feed the drum machine and backing loops to the PRX and go out into the house to use the app to listen and set levels & EQ. It’s pretty much ‘set & forget’, so for me, not being able to tweak settings in the middle of a performance is not really a deal breaker. It can wait to between songs.
@aaronshortmusic
@aaronshortmusic Жыл бұрын
That’s good to hear. I still feel it looks dated and some of the interface is hidden by the iPhone interface. Unfortunately I have lost all confidence since as I stated I found other bugs in the previous firmware which were not documented. I think they should have remade the app with a new team and made it 100% out of the gate. I have lost confidence now.

@@aaronshortmusic The layout on an iPad is much better than on a phone, but I’ve already got two iPads and a phone on my “mic” stand. Who wants more dongles on their stand? In any case I agree with you that the app project needs a restart, and seems to have been a rush job in the first place - Column Arrays were starting to proliferate in the marketplace, and JBL needed to get a product into that race. Get a solid speaker out there and play catch-up with the app support. I have no proof of this. It’s just my trying to make sense of why they would pair such a stellar piece of hardware with such a mediocre app.

Amen. May the JBL Lords that Be be listening, and help us JBL PRX One owners and enthusiasts get everything we paid for. P.S. Back when you did that brilliant interview with the PRX One‘s lead product designer/engineer (or whatever his title was), I truly bought his pitch hook, line and sinker. Such a smart and interesting guy saying such dedicated and committed things about his job and all the TLC that had gone into this product, plus how much JBL was looking forward to lots of user input on the speaker so they could improve things in a very responsive way. Walking the talk seems to be less of a commitment for them nowadays. Which leads me to wonder: Did that brilliant man perhaps get „disappeared“ in the meantime, or is he still in charge of this? Sometimes a product can get orphaned when one of its main champions bows out of the organization. Just goes to show us how fragile any product is that hinges so much on app and/or firmware functionality and updates in order to become good or stay working over the years. Maybe we have all fallen prey to appmania and should just go back to the Good Ole Years when everything was dials and knobs and outboard gear.

I don’t have a problem with products using apps but they should have as much care and thought put into them as the hardware, especially if the feature is one that is sold with the unit. I’m not sure what’s happening next but I have had people asking me about the product for almost two years now and I keep telling them I am waiting for the app to be improved. I just felt I had reached the end of what I was willing to. It’s been too long.

I own a MKII. It sounds fantastic. The app is awful, I bought a small android tablet to use it on gigs and it is completely unreliable. With that said, I thought I would need the app more than I do. I run a looped guitar, vocal and drum machine into the mixer. The only adjustments we make are individual or master volume changes which are pretty easy when you are in the mode where each knob is for each inputs volume directly on the unit. I never run the app. I understand adjusting EQs and such are easier with the app but those are pretty infrequent. I do however strongly agree with the point you are making. Hopefully the July 31 release will make us all happy.

Funny enough I just got my PRX one today to upgrade my eon one and your video just released about the app being horrible. Still true but for the price point and all it's faults the eon one MK2 was a beast and I can imagine the PRX will be beastly If the app is improved then it's the hands down option UNLESS you really want that tone match. Can you Bluetooth to the PRX and Eon one MK2 simultaneously?

@@rafaelunplugged I’m not sure. I don’t have them anymore. Hopefully the app will improve and they will be worth another look.

@@rafaelunpluggedyou cannot Bluetooth simultaneously. For that you'll need 2 Alto Bluetooth Total transmitters and you'll get stereo sound.

I just recently bought the JBL eon oneMk2 speakers And from reading the reviews at all seems the same that now I’m considering using a mixer board with the speakers, and would I just connect my left and right XLR out of my mixer board into one of the channels line in ? That way, I don’t have to use the app until they update it and fix it? Would this be a way of getting around it? Thanks in advance for your help and replies☘️👍

That’s what I heard but I’ve also heard there are still issues. I can’t comment as I don’t have the systems anymore but I’m not interested in spending any more time on it after waiting for two years.

I bought the PRX ONE as a DJ, however, I have been testing it out at home before taking it on a gig. The problem I am having is on whatever channel I have controller or mixer plugged in I get a very hot signal (yellow) even though my volume is not very high. I even tried it with my my iPhone over bluetooth and it also gave me a hot signal (yellow). Even my wife was shocked to see that. I tried with my Mackie mixer plugged in, then I did a direct connection from my Rane FOUR controller and I even tested it with a budget controller the Rev 1 from pioneer and all of them gave me a hot signal. Do you have any idea on how to fix this. If not I am sending them right back to the store.

I’m not recommending these anymore but yellow is not really an issue. It means it has a healthy signal.

@@aaronshortmusic are you able to say why you are no longer recommending them anymore. Thanks for the I am concerned that over time the yellow will be an issue. I spoke to some from JBL and they said it should be in the green

@@djkirk2854 Just because of the app stuff. I’m sure I read that yellow is in fact normal operation. I think it’s fine.

@@djkirk2854boss, you need to read the user manual. Green means bad signal, yellow means excellent signal, red means clipping. It's people like you that trash a company without bothering to learn about the equipment you purchased. Also, if you're going to plug in a line in device, I would use a line channel 4 with a balanced 1/4 jack. This will allow you to max out the gain without going to mic mode. If you use the XLR channel on the JBL mixer the moment you go above 10db it goes into mic mode and your sound is going to sound like garbage. Again, read the manual.

If you are thinking about the JBL, run away. The app is that bad. Buy a nice powered speaker, that’s all mine has become.
