I recently purchased the JBL PRX ONE just before Christmas and did a few solo gigs playing my sax and background tracks and I'm impressed. The quick setup is painless, I usually use a Yamaha power mixer and two JBL 12" monitors on speaker stands. The JBL PRX ONE is much quicker with everything in one unit, Normally when I gig with our 7 piece band I'll use the normal PA setup JBL tops and subs with monitors Soundcraft UI 24R. But for solo gigs this is perfect and with the band in some smaller venues the PRX ONE will be adequate.

I bought the PRX One from Sweetwater a few weeks ago. I have been shopping the Bose systems and was close to buying when the PRX was launched. I bought it and have zero regrets. It sounds amazing with my vocal/ acoustic guitar. I use it to bluetooth music and it rivals many stereo systems. I could not be happier. I don't see why anyone would buy anything else!

@@cduemig1 I have not used this to play out but I can say I have not had much trouble with this causing feedback. It also has a feedback function you can use to help dial out certain frequencies that cause trouble ( does it automatically). I play in front of it using it as a monitor with no problems. Still love this unit.

So glad to know, I just bought one. Still have not been able to use it, as my hands are so full with a two year old. I went as far as getting my blue tooth connected and down loaded the app on my iPhone. I saw the reviews were quite low on using the app. Hoping for the best, happy to hear these positive reviews..👏

Hi Rodney I’m a musician also , I bought the pro 32 and the tls 4 mixer. Love it , the best and loudest sound I have heard from an array system especially with sub 2. A friend of mine bought the pro 16 which don’t get me wrong has a good sound but the pro 32 blows it off the park. Haven’t heard JBl pro one so can’t comment on that. The Bose mixer comes with a long digital cable connection that powers the mixer from the pro 32 base. The benefit especially for us musicians is you have mixer right in front of you to make adjustments on the fly with the physical knobs which is critical if your mixing your self ( they have an app also to mix from your smartphone like Bose But not ideal way to mix for quick adjustments especially if your phone locks or you lose connection ) , I tried playing with systems which have built in mixers but there not practical in a live setting as I find most tracks have different levels and you may need to adjust an eq or vocal levels during a song or you get feedback you need to cut a mic quickly. Anyway that’s my 2 Bob for what it’s worth . Oh I almost forgot, if your using a laptop or iPad type device you get high resolution usb audio not compressed Bluetooth audio with Bose mixer another very important feature which is overlooked sometimes especially now with Apple Music high resolution playback you don’t get the same quality through Bluetooth.

@@michaels5436 Hi Michael I appreciate your post and I agree the Bose Pro- 32 is an awesome unit however when I was doing my comparison I was actually comparing the Bose pro 16 to the JBL-PRX one I actually went into my local (guitar center) who allowed me to do my own comparison/shoot out between the Bose pro 16 and the JBL- PRX-one After about one hour it was clear to me that the JBL-PRX-one Out performed to the Bose pro 16 The JBL overall Had better Base Better mid’s Better high end as well Don’t get me wrong I’m definitely Not saying the JBL-PRX-one Would out perform the Bose Pro 32 However If I would’ve been considering the Pro32 Than I would most likely purchase Another JBL-PRX-one I would be willing to bet That the 2-JBL-PRX-ones combination it would be very competitive With the Bose pro 32 And possibly out perform the 32 And even with the addition of the Bose mixers at $600 to $800 The JBL system would be less expensive Although I do understand your concern about having a mixer at your fingertips I solved that problem By downloading the JBL-PRX EQ-app This app allows me to mix and EQ on the fly from my iPad which I have attached To my mic-stand It’s very comprehensive and if you have a sound technician (which I don’t ) The technician can handle all of your sound system from anywhere in the room with an iPad

@@rodneygoodman9502 no worries rod, good luck mixing on a screen , I’ve tried that before and is a challenge making adjustments.give me physical solders/knobs anyday, also the sound quality is subjective depending on your application ,the source material and how it is eq’d for each system. All I know is that I only need the one system with Bose as it has enough power to cover large venues with the 180 degree sound and I get smooth highs that arent harsh, nice mids that keep the mix open and punchy deep bass. Until I tryout out a prx one I can’t comment on there sound, all I know is the Bose 32 pro is the loudest and cleanest sound I have heard for it’s size and portability. I will reserve judgement on prx one until I hear it.

@@michaels5436 I agree The Bose-32 definitely puts out plenty of volume and I get what you mean by having physical knobs However for me just working as a single artist the JBL-PRX-one does a great job Once I do my initial sound check I’m usually good to go any fine tuning adjustments I can do with my Boss Acoustic Singer Pro Amp Which Has 2-line/outs 1-mic/out & 1-Guitar/out This gives me fine tuning between songs if needed

I heard the PRX one finally ,a friend of mine purchased one. We set them up side by side, the jbl sounded ok but I won’t be rushing out to buy one. The l1 pro 32 blows it away. The jbl has more mixer channels and cheaper price but it doesn’t have the grunt of the Bose and the sound throw and coverage. In fact I was tossing up to get a prx one but after hearing it I’m going to purchase another Bose l1 pro 32. I don’t care it’s slightly heavier and has less channels, it’s all about the sound to me and the Bose is hands down a better sound. The Bose is superior , when it comes to pure sound, power, build quality and clarity. the jbl Columns look a bit flimsy , not the build of the Bose columns. The amp seemed to get a lot warmer on the jbl than the Bose. The sub is ok but the sound is a bit middy sounding , not a lot of sizzle or low end thump. Sticking with my Bose but I can see the jbl being popular but I would need to purchase 2 jbl s just to match the output and coverage of 1 Bose l1 pro 32 system.

The PRX hot amp is good news, because it means that the thermal conduction is good and therefore the cooling of the components is good. Many active PA systems have a hot amp, this does not mean that it will burn because there are thermal protections to prevent this

I have the L1 32 Pro with sub 2 and it sounds amazing , the sub I don’t even need to run any higher than 11 o’clock for earth shattering bass and the sound quality I get is amazing using the Bose TS4 mixer. I have not had the problems you discuss with the Bose sound , i can dial in the perfect sound so I’m not sure if you are adjusting the system correctly ? I only need 1 system and it puts out more than enough spl to cover 95% of venues and people rave about the sound. The throw and spread is unlike anything I’ve heard and I don’t need a fold back and mics rarely feedback even at loud levels. To me it makes sense to also have the mixer beside when I’m performing, ok it’s great to have a 7 channel mixer but who is going to stand behind the speaker and mix while your performing , I’m a musician not a dj , it doesn’t make sense for me to have the mixer behind me I need it right next to me to mix on the fly and the Bose ts4 is perfect for that with its compact size, even better I can connect it to my iPad or MacBook for USB audio and playing live tracks. I know your going to say it’s an extra costs for the ts4 but it truly takes the system to the next level with control of sound and the additional 4 channels and USB is a no brainer and if your spending that much on the speakers why not invest that bit extra to get the ultimate system. do yourself a favour and borrow a ts4 mixer and try it , I think it will give you a different perspective on the Bose.

I never got a satisfying sound with any other bose product but I just bought a l1 pro16 and plugged my yamaha mixer into it, all things flat and the sound is mind blowing. Granted my sound is pre-eq'd (guitars through helix, vocals through tc helicons) but I was seriously amazed. Also it gets uncondortably loud before it even shows any sings of clipping. At the same time, some colleagues have the pro32 and I don't really like the sound they get out of it... Maybe I'm lucky 😂

What I have found is that you do need all the EQ etc... to get what you get when you just plug in the Bose. PRX is nice but the is a pretty good learning curve to learning to get a good sound. The Bose is crisper and cleaner and even warmer as you listen to it. Maybe more natural is the word I am looking for. I do not have the sub 2 with my Pro 32 but I still think the overall sound is more balanced and better. I know the PRX is suppose to have more power....I don't know how they measure that but it is not equal. The PRX is not that noticeably louder. It is more harsh...but it were you have to again spend time with the EQ to get it right.. So other than having the extra channels which is a huge benefit of the JBL I use my Bose 75% of the time.

Nice in-depth review…honest and raw…I like the discussion. I am old school, been a musician since birth and ended up in broadcasting for a profession. I own the EV ETX series of speakers with two ETX 18 subs and ETX 15 two way tops. It is killer for any gig I DJ…I am known in my area for awesome sound and packed dance floors…this is my 42nd year as a professional mobile DJ. Just wanted to give you a background perspective. Since I am 58 years old and play upwards of 35 wedding events per year…I have been considering a column speaker system. With so many opinions out there…it is very, very difficult to choose a product. I just listened to a friends single Bose Pro32 + Sub 2 system and it was impressive. But, I agree with all the things you brought up in your review…I witnessed much of what you brought to light for myself, first hand. A few people I know have recommended the JBL PRX One to me. I know that I will never replace completely the sound of my current system…but If I can get a lighter, easier system to hook up and transport and still create energy and full sound on the dance floor…I’d be happy. Do you still have the same opinion of the JBL as you did 11 months ago? I would be interested in your feedback. Also, does the JBL app work well to control the system? Keep up the good work on KZfaq. Cheers!

PRX ONE sub goes down to 40HZ at -3db and 35HZ at -10db and Sub 2 : 37Hz at -3db and 29Hz at -10db (manufacturer spec) so the Sub 2 sounds deeper, but it's also bigger and heavier, the Prx sub does a good job for its size

Let your ears decide and it also depends on your application, if your a muso you may tend to go the Bose as you don’t need a fold back , if your are a dj you may decide to go the jbl as it cheaper and you may need 2 units and an external mixer to run your tracks in stereo . You won’t get the same spread and carry as with the Bose which is why I think there more suited to musicians which I think the Bose systems is tuned for with the tone match settings for different mics and instruments.

For those watching this two yrs after the OPAZ post.... I bought a PRX the other day and did a gig last nite.. set both up (about 100 people in a small clubhouse with a good bit of dancing). I used the JBL for the first half, then being underwhelmed, I used the Pro32 with a single Sub2 the second half. The Bose is so incredibly superior that I'm returning the JBL to Guitar Center today. The 1000 watt/2000 watt peak claimed for the JBL has to be a fabrication. Went into limiting at moderate volume, plus the Bose articulated array arrangement gives a coverage miles beyond the JBL

This is a compelling review, enough so that I spent time with a pair of PRX ONE, despite operating with Bose L1 Model 2 with dual B2 Bass Modules as well as a pair of Bose F1812 / F1 stacks pending the event needs. I had been contemplating the L1 Pro 32 with Sub 2, so this review prompted me to compare. While I would like to dive into a lengthy review, to follow a private listening session, I quickly boxed up and returned the PRX ONE. Unless you and you’re audience plan to stand the entire event, this is a poorly engineered sound reinforcement solution as nearly all high frequency reproduction vanishes as you progress to a seating level. Yes, a two-way conventional top will exhibit a certain level of high frequency diminishing when in a seated position, however, nothing remotely close to the drop-off of high frequency reproduction of the PRX ONE. You will likely enjoy the sound reinforcement performance of the PRX ONE for upright, dancing only events, however, if utilized for ceremonies, dinner music, or for those taking a rest from dancing, they will be placed in a mid-range frequency only territory and wondering why the music sounds so muffled. I neglected to believe others whom reported this, so I listened for myself. Do yourself a favor, listen before you invest and don’t always believe reviews of those likely compensated by a manufacture, or simply seeking advertising dollars from their channel.

At my weddings/events include dining guests, my PA is never directly in front of diners. I have just checked and 98% of my events have a substantial sized dance floor between my PA and any (especially the nearest) seated diners. The dance floor is usually occupied for the first dance by the married couple. Sound travels everywhere. Years ago when many were using 12" tops, raised high up over heads on poles angled downwards. Your same seated audience arguments would have applied there. At that time it was never an issue. Why is it an issue now?

Your videos are great! You asked can anyone justify the Bose price tag? The missing link in your comparisons is the Pro32/Sub1. At 35lbs the Sub1 is the lightest sub I have found. It's not quite a Sub2 on the lowest notes but it kicks as good as any good 12" sub. I have both a RCF 702 and EV EXL200 12 inch subs. I also have a Sub2. This set up takes all of 5 min and each component is super light. For a system this light to put out 124dB of crystal clear sound is a game changer. Agree EV has better top end. I feel Bose needs some EQing to sound their best. Bose is the only company with 180 degree dispersion. One speaker can fill a huge space. It is unique in the fact that you can put your ear right next to the column at normal volume and it will not seem loud. Many gigging players don't have the option to put the speaker far from their playing position.Musicians state they don't need a monitor and feedback reduction is excellent. Bose never designed their L1 series for DJs. I know Bose is marketing for that purpose. At $2,700 still very expensive but many musicians not so much DJs are willing to spend the extra $$$ for these features. I have never heard the JBL PRX One, but my last JBL, the Eon One Pro was a piece of &%$#!@!
@opaz.
@opaz. 2 жыл бұрын
You said it "sub1 is not quite sub2" & "$2700 is still expensive". I agree with you. Although this upload is about the Pro32 & sub2, with the sub1 option the Bose falls even further behind For 180° and 1 effect on board, for a singer songwriter, they are better off with a Pro8. It has exactly the same and is much cheaper, no cables and so much lighter for them. Pro16 is also a better option for a singer songwriter. More expensive than the prx and same weight. The price of the Pro32 is difficult to ignore and still difficult to justify when the prx is in the equation Your opinion on jbl. ...I could easily say the same about jbl but after using it, I can't Please read the comments from others, they all can't be wrong

@@opaz. PRX bass bin at 52lbs is not light for most singer/songwriters. EV30m and Bose Sub1 in the 35lbs range is really all the bass an acoustic guitarist and vocalist need. I started with the Cube playing the subways, then got the EON one and then I ended up having to rent KSC K12's for a larger venue at the bandshell in Central Park as the Eon One was not up to the task in terms of power. I did not need to crank the K12's all the way up btw. I do not think she is doing stadiums or anything crazy but I am looking to get a 2 speakers that are near as powerful as the K12's but which can do a great job with vocals. The Bose is kinda pricey for me. Would anyone else recommend the PRX one? Also, what about monitors?? do I need them?

Maybe you should do a side be side comparison, if you can, I almost bought the prx one after watching this video.

I purchased the JBL PRX ONE on July 6, 2023, unfortunately I had to return it due to the Pro Connect App not allowing me to use any of its audio controls. I could play music via Bluetooth, I can see the PRX ONE in the Pro Connect App's interface, I had updated the firwate. Now I am wating for aq replacement PRX ONE to be returned to me. My second observation is tha the PRX ONE gets extremely HOT! So hot, that you cannot place you hand on the back as it will burn my had. I think this is not right. I feel that the exessive heat will shorten the life expectance of the PRX ONE. What is your advice, should I purchase some other band? Thank you.

Personally I have never used the app as all I need to operate is onboard in the menu on the display. The rear surface is to dissipate heat (doing its job) therefore it gets hot, never been an issue and I have never felt how hot it gets. I have many home audio amplifiers that have cooling fins that cannot be touched (even when in operation producing audio at home listening levels) I have used mine regularly for years and they still work fine. If it is an issue for you then I would suggest looking at anther pa system, especially as the app use is important to you

Would absolutely kill to get your opinion of the LD Maui 44G2. I’ve been down a massive rabbit hole with the column arrays. Thought I settled on evolve 50M but they hit the threshold a tad bit too early. So far the 44G2 are supposed to be the best of the best. Extremely expensive & support worries with me if something goes wrong compared to EV, JBL or other more known brands. (P.S. I’ve ordered a single Maui 44G2, should arrive in a week or less)
@opaz.
@opaz. 2 жыл бұрын
Dominic, I haven't purchased a 44G2 but have had a demo ages ago and that is the reason why I have not purchased one. Quite a few reasons why: The PA is waaay tooo expensive for what it is. You can do much, much better with a good 15" sub & an 8" top on a pole 😆 really! Many smaller & cheaper column PA's outperform the 44G2. The PA is waaay tooo heavy. It is NEARLY 105lb, 47.6kg, that is crazy!!!! Again, a 15" sub and 8" top would be lighter and better. There are many lighter columns about to choose from No Real DSP onboard at all. Many PA's have tons more DSP onboard to alter and control the sound to suit many locations/genres of music/owners personal tastes. I don't think it even has reverb!!!! Connectivity & Inputs are poor, just XLR & BT. Many PA's today have RCA, 1/4", 3.5mm etc etc The bass isn't great either for a 15"(you may be disappointed). Many columns even the Evole 12" has better low end I wouldn't even purchase one of these used, it has nothing to offer The best thing about this PA is that it is built like a TANK. The BIG problem is, it's just as appealing as one! Hope this helps

@@opaz. lots of dreams crushed within a large paragraph. Haha. Thank you for the insight. I came from years of the K12 from QSC. Then the evolve 50M was quite a graduation in sound and overall design. I’ve gone down a rabbit hole and these days I’m really leaning towards something progressive. The evolve 50M is a tad bit not loud enough. But the sound quality is amazing before it hits the threshold. I was hoping to add the ELX20018inch sub but I would prefer to keep it all in a single enclosure/setup. I want to remain in the column array world because I still seek portability. I have zero desire to do any of the sub & pole speaker combos. I’ve looked into RCF, Bose, JBL, EV, & LD/Maui - as it stands it seems that EV & LD are neck & neck. As far as the DSP I’m DJing & don’t need any intense refinement / inputs but I can see how it will be a bonus. I may just cave and add a sub to the EV setup. Not sure

Thank you for the reviews. I’d value opinion. I am in a pub rock band, playing keyboards and synth with a drummer, bassist and lead guitarist and vocalist. Currently, I use a pair of Yamaha DBR12’s as my own back line. Bassist and Guitarist have their own amps. My back Is not liking taking them to and from rehearsals and all the faff setting up with mixer and cables ( I use 4 inputs + vocals). A simple to set up with a column PA is becoming attractive and having looked for a while the PRXone seems expensive but ideal. But my question is, does it have enough sound power to compete with drums and lead guitarist in a pub of about 100 people ? I assume it is way more punch in real life than Bose Pro 8 and 16 and the EV systems ?
@opaz.

You are correct with it having way more punch than the EV and Pro8 systems. I honestly do believe that this pa is a solution. It has absolutely everything and vast amounts of control in its mixer. I haven't managed to connect a live band to this unit yet but I'm sure it will be upto the job. If I get any info for you on the question I'll pass it on. Hopefully somebody else reading this can give you a more detailed answer too

Thank you for the quick replies. On paper it should work for my keys as I'm not running the current PA anywhere near max. I'll see if I can get to test one out somewhere to get a sense of the punch in the real world, as having one of these beside me would save a lot of setup and faff with cables, stands and an external mixer. If I can hear myself above drummer then perfect..I can always feed into main PA to project forwards. I haven't seen anyone using Columb PA as a backline yet, but then again I haven't been out much recently for some reason :-) ...looks like a great product though.

I haven’t heard the prxone so I can’t compare unfortunately but if the bass is better then Bose it must be a wicked sound because I havent even got to half way on the dial on the Bose and it gives me the cinema lows I’ve never heard before unless on a 18 inch speaker which weigh so much more and bulkier. The Bose goes lower 37 hz at -3 The JBl is 40 hz at -3 and 35 hz at -10. I’m not sure what Bose is at -10 but it must be something like 32 hz if you are using the same comparison. I would be pleasantly surprised if the Prx one is as good as you say as I haven’t heard anything close to the sub 2 for its size and weight and I have used a lot of subs if the last 25 years. Once again I believe the issue here is in your Eq of sound and if you expect to tailor the bass sound with just a 2 channel eq your not going to get the sound you require with a sub of that power. You need to have graphic eq control , you are limited with the built in 3 channel mixer, even though you will achieve a good sound your not going to be able to dial in your preferred bass sound.
@opaz.
@opaz. 2 жыл бұрын
Why sell a product, that requires another product to make it sound good? Doesn't make an ounce of sense Another thing about Bose, dangling the t4/8 carrot to make you spend even more to make the already expensive system sound better. I Demo’d the PRX One and the Pro 16 and my local GC. I was blown away by the clarity of the One. The sub is very clean but does start to breakup at max output. My two concerns: it’s 130 degree dispersion pattern. This is likely good for using multiple systems as you’ll have less wave cancellation and a good reason why it sounds better but it might not fill a room as much. It also will likely feedback more. The Bose is designed for live sound so directly in front doesn’t have any speakers pointed right at you. My thoughts are the Bose is likely better for big live sound and the PRX one for playing music or using multiple systems. My only other concern is I assumed this was designed for adding a bigger PRX series subwoofer. Why not? You could DSP out some bass out of the built in and output through the pass through. But they didn’t. You can still do it I believe but it’s all manual and then you can only use one PRX One but without using splitters and relying on the onboard crossover.
@opaz.

Main reason I returned my Pro16 was that weak column spacer. Really was unacceptable from a brand that I expected better from. The high pitch noise constantly coming from the column even with nothing connected to it was the last straw. LF performance from the Pro16 was not as good as my smaller 12" EV evolve. Not sure if a bigger sub on the jbl would be a good idea. The prx sub matches the bose sub2 already. A lot of venues don't like loud subs (as another person also commented). A larger sub will make the speaker not so attractively portable with the added weight For the price of the prx one what it packs in specs and what it delivers, there is nothing I've seen that comes close

@@opaz. I went to another GC and demo’d the PRX One against the Bose L1 Pro32 and Evolve 50 (no contest). The PRX sounds much better. The highs are all there and the bass is spot on matched and not boomy. I disagree though the Bose isn’t louder. Outside maybe but in a room with reflections that thing is ear splitting. My assumption the reason the ratings are the same is since half the drivers are pointed right and the other half left you get a wide field of sound limiting SPL in one spot. I prefer the bass on the PRX One. It’s not as loud but tighter and more musical. I’m quite convinced the Sub2 has more output though. I still think it comes down to intended use. Live sound I’d still use the Bose. Having the monitor behind you is a huge advantage when playing. The PRX One manual says to have the speaker in front of the mic or straight to the right. That’s a big negative for that use. I also found the manual does talk about adding a sub. There’s a mode for the pass through that limits frequencies to 80hz and passes the LPF signal out. Also, I left GC with a PRX One. I want to demo them side by side wide open.

After looking at all the reviews and hearing both side by side from a dj point of view the prx is built solid and will take abuse. The mid range and highs on the prx sounds better than the Bose but when that sub 2 plays the prx cannot touch it. The bass the Bose gives has so much depth I had to go with it. The Bose also has more throw than the JBL and at 180 degrees. I tried all the eq settings on the prx and the bass isn’t for my liking. If you’re looking for that home theater JL audio bass the Bose is the better choice in my opinion.

With the dj bookings I've been increasingly getting, EV, RCF, JBL are offering their more affordable multi-channel PA's that are fully loaded and with sufficient power for events. They are increasingly a much more attractive purchase today, in a much more portable and lightweight package Being a very recent offering from Bose at $1000 per channel, the portly Pro32/sub2 with only 3 channels and one reverb onboard is not looking very future proof. This is the flagship model and even from new it still remains dated relying on expensive add-ons, proving to be an extremely expensive DJ option. A stereo PA in this form is definitely not worth the eye watering $6000

@@080519971 It’s a great system. I did a test. However, I now have 2 ev systems. As this set up connects via an Ethernet cable the 2 mixers combine so I now have a 16 track mixer. The Bluetooth channel also has full eq options. Also the ev has fx foot switch. I could not see that on the jbl. That essential for many acts. Over all the ev suited my set up better.

@michaels5436

Agree the Bose is a different beast it’s designed to be behind you and also be a fold back whereas the prx one is designed to be used in front of you and having the mixer at its rear you have no choice but to be behind it if you want to mix live while performing. Even worse you need an external mixer to run stereo making the 12 of the 14 channels built in redundant if you have to use external mixer which is an additional cost to get stereo. You also only need one Bose unit to fill a room with its 180 degree spread which I’m not sure the single prx one would be loud enough and have enough room coverage with a single system. I haven’t heard jbl but going on the specs it appears to be more of a point source system sound than a true array.

That’s the thing you can’t you need a separate mixer, you are paying for 2 separate 7 channel mixers, I’d rather get a separate pro mixer with control other multiple stacks in stereo than a mixer built into back of a sub, it’s a gimmick if you ask me mixers built into subwoofer.

Ok another follow up. Even though the JBL rep said you can add a sub but they’re not really meant for it, he was dead wrong. The XLR pass through has a mode called, “sub”. It cuts the low frequencies to about 80hz max in the main unit and outputs the rest through the pass through. I demo’d all the subs at GC and the JBL EON618S was far and away my favorite match but I didn’t play with any settings it’s just where they landed. In “sub” mode the JBL got a bit louder and sounded fantastic. To compare I threw a JBL PRX835 and sub on and though it got louder, the PRX One was much more pleasant to listen to. Also forget the app for now. Many of the settings just don’t work in the app. It says it made a change but doesn’t or does many other odd things. Go to the speaker and it works well. Also a tip, don’t mess with pass through settings while gain is up, it can send a pop to the sub for some reason.
@cduemig1
@cduemig1 2 жыл бұрын
Also the Bose Sub2 sounds fantastic paired to this setup but you’d need 2 to match the output of the EON618S without sounding taxed. Not worth the cost in my opinion.

First I've heard about any rep information. I stick to what suits my application, after all it's my money. I have never needed to add a sub to any column pa that I have If the sub performance isn't (sub enough), I simply don't purchase it. I would never add a sub to the prx. Thanks for the tip on the pass through 👍🏻

@@TheHxcbrandon I took it out today and found a closed dealership and setup two Bose L1 M2’s and the PRX One. I bumped both as loud as they would go (1x Bose vs JBL). The Bose put out more sound that’s for sure. A single B2 is pretty comparable to the sub on the PRX but the PRX is a bit tighter and more even. Two L1 M2’s really fill a big wide open space but they have to be VERY far apart, at least 30 feet. I had them at 25 ft and definitely could’ve spaced more. If you stand between them at about 10 feet in the middle you get a sweet spot which isn’t a good thing and would be distracting for dancers. Turning them out a bit helped but didn’t fully eliminate it. Back to a single L1. I used the other base to power a second B2 and this thing definitely kicks and gets very loud. The PRX is more musical but lower output. It wasn’t until after I left to consider turning on the sub mode and seeing how much louder it could go.

@@michaels5436 No, only compared it with the EV50 and the Bose L1 16. The JBL was by far the clear winner both in terms of sound quality and loudness. The EV50 has a "contour" color that I don't like (lots of highs lots of lows nothing in the middle) and the Bose was very muffled and muddy (all tested side by side via Bluetooth and on "flat" eq. The L1 32/S2 is in a whole different price point and bulk, so I don't think its a useful comparison. I'm a wedding DJ.

@@Realdjheisenberg I remember carting around 18 inch subwoofer bins to gigs that weighed 65 kilos and now the L1 pro 32 are considered bulky LOL , I wish the sub2 was back in the 90s i would have carried 4 in at one time. How times have changed ! Remember smaller isn’t necessarily better , even though I wouldn’t say sub 2 is bulky compared to other subwoofers. It’s pretty light at 25 kilo.

Do not... I repeat DO NOT buy this system. There is a HUGE overlooked design flaw. This system sounds great when you are standing up in an optimal position to the top segment. BUT lower yourself down a little bit, such as sitting in a chair, or raise the speaker such as on a stage and it's all gone. You'll only hear mid range and bass. All the high end clarity is absolutely gone. They even mention the lower speaker are tuned to mid range. Why, friken why!? Fire the genius behind this failure. If you are not at optimal listening position it absolutely sucks! I tested this today at guitar center. Had 2 of their guys listening. Then I said squat down just a little and see what happens. Both said Wtf. We even tried leaning the system down. Which works of you again are located in the optimal position. And who wants to lean the speaker??? The bose 16 has a J configuration just for this issue. The bottom speakers curve in. The JBL, not only are they tuned to just mid frequencies, but they are also straight. In guitar we also went about 20 ft away and you still get the effect of losing sound by not standing exactly at a certain level. I sat on a drum thrown as if it was a place where people sit down at regular height chairs. The throne was actually a bit higher and still lost the highs. It sounds like a regular speaker with a blown tweeter/driver. Absolutely RIDICULOUS! And by design. Smdh! Don't believe me? Go test it yourself. If you want to use it, and have no issues telling everyone to please stand up while I use this system, then buy it. Other than that it's worthless. I ordered one as well as a guitarist I work with. We both canceled orders after hearing this absolute craziness! Jbl I am ashamed of, and embarrassed for, you.

If you had conventional 12's (for example) raised high on a pole or flown and didn't angle them down, you would achieve the exact same results. Just in the same way that at an event, you would not put all off your conventional speakers on the ground, for best results Positioning is always crucial with every pa installation
