After filming this video, I played some good old Rick and roll on these bad boys and now I don't think I can let them go! I may have to restore them and keep them....

They are actually pretty legendary mid bass cabs, pretty popular in the 70s. You scored IMO

They are JBL 4560 cabinets. The Voice Of The Theatre, were made by Altec.

Yep.. learned that a say or so after this posted. I did restore them and I do use them, super huge and heavy though.

Those are NOT I REPEAT NOT 'VOICE OF THE THEATER' speakers. The VOT's were solely built by one company-Altec Lansing. They did not use JBL, Bullfrog, or Peavey components. Each of those companies had their own line of speakers, The Voice of the Theater speakers had amazing sound, and you could throw 1000 watts at them and they would just look at you like "is that all you got?". lovrd my vot-4's

Yea, someone came up with the correct model number last year. JBL 3456 comes to mind....

I love Altecs and VOTs and have used A7s, A7-500s and A5s in my home, as well as Altec 19s, 9844s, 605As and now 604Es. But they have low power handling and asserting you can throw 1000 watts at them is absurd, unless you're talking about an array of many units. But you only need a couple of watts to make them roar anyway.

Those are very interesting, look like knock off altec lansing VOTT speakers. The peavey 22 driver is definately a twist, esp with the square magnet on there. I have a set of peaveys that use the same tweeter with square magnet, very impressive sound. Honestly to me, these look like homemade knockoffs of altec voice of the theater speakers... From what I can find, jbl has never made speakers that look like that.

You might be right, I came to the same conclusion. I may keep them if they will fit in my Step Van. If I do I will repaint them.

Hey Glen, I just figured out what these were accidentally through another video, the lower cab with the woofer are jbl perkins cabinets and were typically used in theatres, search JBL 4560 and youll see some similar ones. The tops are not stock with those though. How do you like them?

Thank you so much for identifying these for me. I looked them up using the model number you provided. I need to find a place to keep these and go ahead and refinish them so they look presentable. Thanks again!

Those are a small version of Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater. Google "Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater A2" You'll see these are just baby speakers. The A2 has 4 - 15 inch LF drivers. You just can't believe the sound output from the A2.
