Caught my interest when you admitted that this drill initially felt horrible, as that was definitely what I felt when I'd tried it before, and quickly gave up on it. So, pulled out my spare replacement grip and made a couple dozen shadow swings and it started feeling marginally less icky. Came back to it a while later , but started seeing the move in a slightly different light. Instead of thinking of it as a relationship between the two knees, I started feeling it as an independent move by the left knee - significantly less icky feeling, and could kinda see where I could maybe blend it into the "hip bump/weight shift{pressure shift?} move. Am I miles off the mark here?

Just noticed your "short" over to the right about the weird trail arm only swing. Is its value in its effect somehow on that lead knee?

Is the knee rotation a consequence of moving the left hip socket back , or does the knee rotation outwards happen before the left hip moves back.

Athletic motion done a gears demo where they proved the lead knee separating on the downswing is actually an optical illusion. At best the distance between the knees stays the same. I'll try and find it. Be interested to see what you think

If that’s true, my guess is that the trail knee also moves forward with the left so that the spacing doesn’t change much. The point is to get the left knee to move so that you can get rotation - and perhaps get the left to go first so that the practice ball will drop! 😊
