It's a Swedish humor thing. Kind or dry but full of sarcasm, and for some reason we call it "being ironic" basically we have misunderstood irony for sarcasm. You can thank a Swedish comedy group called "Killinggänget" and Henrik Schyffert for that.

😂 If I were her I would've jumped in and said something similar ('horrendous' maybe). If he was joking then she could backtrack and laugh along, but if he was serious then she would've gotten the upperhand. Besides, that question was ridiculous.
