"Victoria has many little parks all around, and virtually everyone of them has homeless people in it." - As a resident of Victoria for 20+ years now, and one who lives directly opposite one of said parks, I can confidently say that this statement is not even REMOTELY correct.

Oh, and by the by, it doesn't rain in Victoria as much as many people think. Our precipitation levels are a third of the mainland; Vancouver, Seattle and the environs.

you missed one of the best places to Drive in Victoria Dallas Road , if you get over again take that Drive .,, To Oak Bay from Downtown, you would think you were in the Mediterranean at some spots .,

OLD Houses in Victoria get declared Heritage sites and the owners are regulated as to what and how repair work is done.They have to keep them original.I was born in Victoria in 1952 and now live on the outskirts of the city.CHEERS

Regarding the homeless you've seen, keep in mind that many of them might actually live anywhere else in the country. The Pacific Coast of Canada (and the US) has always been a magnet for the youthful and unsettled. It's almost a right of passage to take a summer off to hitch to Vancouver or Vancouver Island and live outside for a few months just panhandling when necessary. Beats working for a living. So a lot of the homelessness you observed is not always involuntary. Of course there is in some circles the attitude that anyone who wishes to live here deserves to be provided with a home if they can't provide one for themselves in this area of some of the most expensve real estate in the country.

That Toys R Us you saw was part of the Mayfair Mall... one of the great malls in the area. I love Victoria and plan on moving here sometime down the road. :)
