Even if your memory was wiped afterwards, it wouldn't change the immediate anguish of your experience. If anything, it would make it worse as you could continue to torture yourself for billions of years with zero recollection or regret. I wouldn't call that inconsequential at all.

Which means that if you go crazy whilst still there and kill yourself to escape the hell, you won't return and now you're dead. Literally NO human being would be able to exist in a pocket universe of darkness for 500 years, let alone 500 million. Most people would kill themselves before 50 years.
