Kathy was gorgeous, back then & still is. But I think the personality of her character was what attracted a lot of fan admiration. Cissy was wholesome, charming, thoughtful, mature. The kind of gal that any boy could have introduced to his parents & surely get 2 thumbs up. Sad that there aren't more Cissy-like characters in today's TV landscape.

Sam Westing I TRULY AGREE WITH YOUR POINT ABOUT GALS LIKE HERE, are not in Today’s Television!!! Should be!!!! We need more wholesome TV people so the kids don’t think everyone isn’t! Rant over.!!! Sorry I was yelling but I feel strongly about that point!!!💯 take care everyone! Be safe, wash your hands, brush your teeth, and cough 😷 cough into your sleeve! God Bless!!!!

She was, and still is, living proof that you can be wholesome and sexy at the same time. When Family Affair began, Kathy was 19/20 and I believe a sophomore or a junior at UCLA. She got progressively more beautiful and sexy as she matured into her mid-20s by the end of the show's run in Season 5 in 1972. She got her BA in psychology from UCLA around seasons 2 - 3 of Family Affair.

I liked this program as well and really liked Sebastian Cabot, it was a program which let me escape what was going on in my world and dream of an alternate reality to mine. Kathy's character of Cissy was great and she really brought the role to life, God Bless her and all that made this show magic. Thanks Dave and again all the best in this new year-Cheers

I enjoyed the show but for some reason it was just on weird times for me even as one of cable channels "filler" channels. But as for Brian Keith how I loved him in Hardcastle & McCormick. I thought that show was awesome even though if memory serves me the so called "Coyote" was nothing more than a kit which I believe was based on the McLaren.

Michael Carter my mom had twins about 2 & 1/2 weeks before my ninth birthday. She then had two more of my sisters one when I was 12 and the other one when I was 16. So I can definitely relate. And yes all of us were from the same marriage.💁🏻‍♀️

Anisa Jones life was tragic. After the show ended in 1973, she fell in with the wrong crowd. Had an older brother who's best friend became her boyfriend. She had an abortion at 13-14 years old, supposedly married at 16, dead two weeks after she turned 18 in 1976. Older brother died a few years later and the mother died in 2011-2012 in Detroit. No one knows what happened to the father. Johnny Whitaker did drugs and booze until his mid 40's. Now clean and sober. Brian Keith committed suicide in the 90's. Garver was the only one who survived all that, the pitfalls of post-TV fame, for the most part.

Even though uncle Bill accepted this responsibility for taking care of cissy, buffy, jody that really truly honestly showed that he was a wonderful caring person . I ts nice when someone takes the time, makes the effort to show love to teenagere, younger kids . I am glad that he done a wonderful job in the show . I am not jealous of the consideration shown . When I was was Buffy & Jody age I never ever got the love that I needed . It's a shame my relatives thought so little of me . They seemed to be more occupied with their good -for - nothing farm out in the country . Later in life I did find love from someone who I knew a very long time .

Dave, look up the even creepier version of Mrs Beasley in the pilot! She looks like part Hoo and part doll! You are spot on about the elements of sadness throughout the series! I had finally seen the whole episode of the one where Eve Plumb plays the ill classmate of Buffy and I was in tears by the end! Kathy Garver was so stunning she could have easily been a great teen fashion model - and I believe she was in college!

LOL!! @5:00 ☺️ I used to “torture” my sister’s Barbies dolls with red headed pins sticking out of certain places! 😁 Yes, I liked watching Family Affair when it was on. Interesting show in that while it was a “comedy”, it had a seriousness about it which made it unique. Thanks for posting!

I (as a kid, mind you) was never a fan of this show. My parents never dying or divorcing was an obsession with me, and here you have a show where the kids' parents were dead! Scared the crap out of me! (Again as a child). I'd forgot about this show, but my wife found a Mrs. Beasley doll at the flea market a few years ago. Not only does that doll from Hell look at me funny, but she brings back the childhood fears from 45 years ago!! And even tho my dad's been dead for over 40 years...grrrrrr! LOL! Otherwise, Chrissy was HOT!

My favorite cast member was Uncle Bill/Brian Keith. I came from 2 large families so I had 12 uncles and aunts, but no completely unflappable uncles like Uncle Bill....and certainly none that wore a tuxedo on a fairly regular basis. Cissy was a lot like my oldest (of 4) sisters, but also a bit like my other older sister who was a bit of a rebel. As far as Mrs Beasley, I always thought that Buffy was a bit too old to be lugging a doll with her nearly everywhere. If anything, I was sort of envious of how easily Buffy and Jody made friends. But then, children that age don't always have the hangups of (slightly) older kids. BTW, Family Affair was really just a more urbane version of My Three Sons, by the same production company.

Cissy would have been an awesome older sister. I'll bet Kathy would have been as well. I don't know a lot about her, but she obviously was and still is a very beautiful woman and seems to have a wonderful personality. Can we expect videos on Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot in the near future?

People tend to think child actors end up train wrecks because of the few that do. But most, like Kathy, turn out just fine. I have a pintrest board on successful child actors and have over 300 such child actors who did just fine as adults.

Sebastian Cabot died by some other way . My sympathies goes to the families of anissa Jones, Brian Keith as well . Other people who worked with Brian Keith my sympathies goes to you as well . Even the fans of the show . Brian Keith, sebastian Cabot I am sure player in other movies as well. rest in peace .. your fans miss you all . We love all of you . The only people who are left is Johnny Whitaker , Kathy garver

I think by the 5th season, it aired opposite of The Flip Wilson Show and the ratings pretty much cancelled FA. I read somewhere that ABC was thinking about picking up the show but they had The Brady Bunch, so FA wasn't picked up. Then I think CBS were going in a different direction, such as All In the Family and other shows.

Keep in mind that most sitcoms only last 3-5 years and that a big part of the success of Family Affair was Buffy and Jody and their cute childlike innocence. By the time the show ended, Anissa Jones would have been 12 or 13 and John Whittaker 11 or 12. If memory serves me correctly, the writers and/or producers of the shows really didn't allow their two characters to mature all that much over the life of the show because they wanted to milk all of the young childlike cuteness and personalities out of them. In my opinion, it was kind of cruel to have those two keep portraying 7 or 8 year old children up to the very end of their preteen years. It would have been nice to see Buffy and Jody grow and start to mature as the show progressed. But at that point CBS chose to just ax the show rather than putting forth the effort to further develop their characters. Also, by that point, Cissy would have been ready to move out and start on her own.
