Actor Philip McKeon, best known as Tommy on the CBS sit-com, "Alice" passed away recently. Here are my thoughts about this actor who, in recent years, found satisfaction doing other things besides being in front of a camera.

My mom passed a month after her 55th B-day, and my dad shortly before his 60th. As I get older, I realize how young that actually is. I didn't get a real opportunity to know them as an adult (my brother and me were later in life kids) I hope to beat those odds!

I am *NOT* suggesting *ANYTHING* "improper" here... just a wish (or a hope)... I *truly* hope that Philip's grief over Tayback's death didn't lead him down any dark paths where he might have engaged in any risky behaviors that *MIGHT* have led to his untimely death. *I'M.* *JUST.* *SAYIN'.* simply because it's a possibility... but then so is cancer, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, multiple sclerosis... you name it. I *REALLY* enjoyed McKeon's work on ALICE. I understand that the studio had to contend with child labor laws, his education, and any number of other things (like the fact that the show wasn't really about HIM, but about his MOM instead), but I really wish he could've been incorporated into the show more. Rest in peace, Philip McKeon. You will be missed.

Michele 🇨🇦, I am sorry to hear that a number of your former classmates have passed away. There are some things in life that we cannot understand and premature death is definitely one of them. I was out for New Year's Eve for the dinner, music, dancing and I was thrilled to see people around my parents ages, in their seventies and eighties having a great time celebrating. I told one of my friends that I hope that will be me twenty -five-thirty years from now. Translation, I truly hope that God keeps me here in years to come. Obviously, I didn't say that to this close friend but I was certainly thinking that.

I feel the same way that you do whenever someone my age passes away. I used to watch the show, Alice in my youth and to think that the youngest character recently died two weeks before Christmas. However, it also teaches me that we do not know when our time will come. We should appreciate each day as a gift and try to show positvity to those around us as much as humanly possible.

What a wonderful synopsis of a truly unique individual! No, not gonna find any of those typical negatives of a young actor who couldn’t cope, here! He was a super nice guy and when Facebook first came about he actually let me be his friend. A real person! Nothing fake about him. I was so sorry when he was taken and it felt somewhat like a personal loss even though we never met in person and our correspondence was never more than occasional. Often just “liking” something I’d posted and that’s it. He, like so many, left us a body of work that we can enjoy beyond his own years and the great thing about his is that this kind sweet character of Tommy really seemed to be Phillip! Thanks for this very thoughtful well presented video! Once again you’ve made a caring and informative presentation!

MR. Allen Why would I ask an imaginary magic fairy man for forgiveness? And why would I want to ask forgiveness from some mythological being whose followers aren’t intelligent enough to follow their own rules - like the way you are judgmental, despite being told in no uncertain terms that you must not judge others? You are a pathetic excuse for a "Christian." Your "Jesus" told you to love others, but all you do is ensure that others see your "Jesus" as a symbol of hate and judgment. Have fun explaining to your god why you drove people away from it. That sounds like blasphemy of the Holy Spirit to me, which is a ticket straight to hell according to your book of fairy tales.
@DaveTexas
@DaveTexas 3 жыл бұрын
*choose, *except, *almighty MR. Allen You’ll be burning in hell for all eternity for your judgment. You’re too stupid to spell simple words correctly, so of course you’re too stupid to understand the rules your imaginary dickhead of a god commands you to follow. But here, let me leave you with this: Oh great Satan, I offer you the soul of MR. Allen, who goes to strangers and judges them for being who they are. MR. Allen’s soul is yours to do with what you please. Hail Satan, who is more powerful than any wimpy little god. You obviously have homosexual feelings in yourself that you hate. It must be terrible to hate yourself so much that you have to tell strangers to not be like you. It’s okay, honey. Come on out. Gay sex is the best sex. REAL heterosexuals don’t feel the need to think about what men do in bed together. Only self-hating closet cases do that. Trust me, you’ll really enjoy gay sex.

Alice was a far better show than you seem to give it credit for. Unlike the done to death overkill reality shows that have plagued our screens the past 20 plus years and are truly forgettable and irrelevant Alice was a multi-layered comedy/entertainment program that just worked and was well written and acted. It had a catchy theme tune, loads of funny scenes at Mel's diner, Alice's singing career and beautiful voice, a then teen heart throb during the 80's (Tommy) and of course the great famous guest stars like George Burns and Jerry Reed to name a few. Few shows today can mimic the fun and laughs Alice brought to the table and for that it earns my deepest respect! As for poor Philip, he left us way too soon and will be missed!

Great video. I enjoyed watching "Alice" when i was a child. Always, I have heard wonderful thgs about Philip. He was a talented actor. Nancy & Phillip were both private via personal lives. Indeed, they did not allow the industry to defy them or taint them. I am glad he had a happy life & did work he enjoyed. RIP Phillip McKeon

I'm a big fan of Alice. Philip was close to my age when the show originally aired, so I identified with him. I grew up in a restaurant family in the South, so the show ticked two of my boxes (Flo's appeal was being a Southerner on TV at a time when there weren't many - and most were hiding their accents). Also, Linda Lavin was and is so lovable. Of all the sitcoms that came out in the mid to late 70s, Alice is the only one I have on DVD or would ever watch again and again. I guess we all have our preferences. For me, it was the best of the era. When I would come home from college in the late 80s, my dad and I would stay up late and talk ... and watch the Alice reruns that came on after the news and late night talk shows. It was a special bonding time. Thanks Philip for all the good memories. You touched more lives than you could ever know.

I'm 4 years younger than Philip Mckeon. He was born the same year my Mom and Dad got married - 1964. When I was 13 years old, almost 14, I had a huge crush on Philip. I thought he was so cute with his blond hair and big smile. He just seemed genuinely nice, and it's great to know that he was. I got over my Philip Mckeon crush when I was still a young teenage girl (I'm 51, now) but I still enjoy seeing him on TV from time to time. The news of Philip's death came as a shock to me. I never knew he was sick. Prayers for his family and friends. Rest in peace, Philip. God has called you home to Heaven, but you will be terribly missed here.

Philip McKeon's character "Tommy" got some good lines on "Alice". One I remember best is he told his mom Alice to " . . . show some cleavage" when going out on a date. This was a few seasons into the show, as Philip/Tommy was maturing into an adolescent. Thank you for some great memories, Philip. May you rest in peace.

Yes, you took your time to give us a very well researched story of a great child actor who sadly left us too soon. I just found out about this the other day when I read about those we lost in 2019. Another person’s recent passing that I was sad to hear about was Marie Fredrikkson from the Swedish rock group, Roxette who died from brain cancer earlier in December. She was such a talent and I was in such shock about that as well. She was 61 and that too is very young to pass away.

I always had a soft spot for Philip because he bared a strong resemblance to my own older brother, who is the same age as he was. That aside, I thought his character on Alice, which I did watch as a kid, was hysterically funny, mostly because the way he delivered his lines was on point. The comedy seemed to come naturally.
