"Ohhh, that looks like it must be nice, what so-and-so has...." Then I kinda turn away, and quietly imagine (or maybe sulk) about how nice it could one day be for me IF... The turning away helps me keep what is a brief bit of envy (and not an angry envy, because i usually can see how their gift is giving them joy) from becoming jealousy.

Sister Emmanuel says to say to God “thank you Lord for giving so and so this or that I am so grateful that they have what I want and do not have” and keeping thanking Him for the blessings others have until we really sincerely mean it in our hearts. It does a work in our hearts.
