I once had the pleasure of watching over Moebius's shoulder as he drew a picture of a woman. Brilliant.

No, Magnus was. Moebius said this himself.
@ja_no Жыл бұрын
@@pompombuuum3182 Are you talking about Roberto Raviola? I'm not interested in the discussion who's "the best", whatever that means, but I would be interested in Moebius talking about Magnus. Do you remember where he said that and if he got into any details?
@pompombuuum3182 Жыл бұрын
@@ja_no yes, Roberto Raviola. It was a documentation about Moebius, where he talked about his life and how he came to work as Giraud, Gir and Moebius. Then he spoke about fame and that people called him God and he himself needed time to learn to live with fame. Then he was asked what he thinks about himself now and he said:“If you ask any good artist, he will tell you, there is only one God among us and that is Magnus.“
@ja_no Жыл бұрын
@@pompombuuum3182 Thanks for the reply, that's very interesting and slightly confusing. Not that Raviola wasn't a fantastic artist, but, to me, Giraud picking him as the "god" still feels a bit random. I'm probably just not familiar enough with his best work, as I'm sure Giraud had good reasons to pick him...

I keep coming back to this... I wonder if he inked the hat with the nib just because he already had it in his hand and there still was ink left on it or if that was a conscious choice. Switching between nib and brush is always interesting to me.
@marcusburnett11354 ай бұрын
I wonder if it has more to do with what hes inking specifically, like if he does the hat with the nib to get more precise lines because its a more static object, but then switches to brush for the face for more of an organic expressive feel

What nib and brush is he using?
@jacobmelena91166 жыл бұрын
I think the brush is a windsor newton series 7 round size 3, an industry standard. But I have no idea about the nib. All I know is that it's really large and loose, and it seems like it has a more rounded point
@Jenterke6 жыл бұрын
Nib might be Sergent Major
@Jenterke5 жыл бұрын
Don't think the brush is W&N. Pause video at the end (00:59) and you see a golden 2 on the wood. Maybe a Raphael 8404 no.2
@Nivelle_le_Gris4 жыл бұрын
The nib is a Sergent Major, yes, very common in France. And the brush is indeed a Raphaël 8404 size 2, as Winsor and Newton brushes are not available in France.
@Jenterke4 жыл бұрын
In the dutch edition of the collected Blueberry (Integrale uitgave, deel 7, p6) Patrice Pellerin writes that Giraud used a Winsor & Newton no.3 (and adds that Caniff used a no.1 and Foster and Raymond used a no.2). He also writes that Giraud drew on Schoeller Parole paper for almost his entire life. (A paper that is, I believe, not produced anymore today.)

Does he normally sketch with this colour pencil? I would've thought a blue pencil, so that it doesn't shine through in the print - or does he just use this 'black' pencil so that the viewer can actually see his sketch in the video?
