Imagine, 16 years old, 1978, top floor of the highest building in the city, in a former laundry room we had our fm radio. Night, the smell of cigarettes, the warm breath of the transmitter that filled the room and embraced us, this song was the theme song of the night program, intimate, relaxed, listeners' calls, pause, another cigarette, a trip to the terrace , the lights of the city formed a carpet 80 meters below us ... we felt capable of anything ... and now I'm just an old man digging youtube to be buried with memories ...

So viele Komponisten hatten diese Geräte zur Verfügung, doch nur Jean Michel Jarre wusste mit ihnen Musik zu machen. Musik, die auch Jahrzehnte später noch frisch und traumhaft schön klingt. Man fühlt sich wie auf einem fremden Planeten, auf dem alles friedlich zugeht.

Brought the Album Oxygen on Vinyl back in 1976 and loved it. Mates thought I was weird.They listened to Disco Duck back in the day. Jean Michel Jarre was well ahead of his time. Got me hooked on electronic Music to this very day :-)

You picked the worst exemple back in the day. I consider disco duck as a joke. Of course the disco era as a whole as great and mostly had great songs. The supremacy of disco doesn't devalue other genres of music with good songs.

У них старые аналоговые синтезаторы, они дают мягкий божественный звук, сейчас таких никто не использует, сейчас везде цифра , а она мёртвая.

@@user-cj2lu1to3l Не, ну я вообще про музыкантов в целом, раньше с 60х по 90х они все использовали только аналог потому что другого небыло, а сейчас все используют цифру , потому что всем плевать на аналоговый звук, и только лишь некоторые используют старые технологии с мягким звучанием. Некоторые современные исполнители сейчас вообще никакие инструменты не используют , только компьютер.

I have loved electronic music ever since the 1960s, such as from Walter (Wendy) Carlos Tangerine Dream, and similar artists. I was totally blown away by this Oxygene when it was first released. It is a timeless work of art.' I've never tired of it. JMJ is my favorite composer, hands down.

I was able to see him live at a concert in Dresden (Germany) 11 years ago. I was lucky to have a front row seat right in front of him. It was an absolute dream and I still get goose bumps when I think about the brilliant laser show and the sound. His music is simply timelessly beautiful. He is also a very likeable artist.

A friend introduced me me to him around 1979 and my soul has loved his music since then. It's magic and beautiful. I saw him once in Sweden, Gothenburg around 1995 I think. Late 70's our choirmaster called us out because we didn't respect the rest signs, in a Verdi's score. "Silences are also music", he told us. Master Jean-Michel Jarre uses white noise (all audible frequencies played together) as music. When musical geniuses like Verdi or Jarre use them, it's music to the ears.

Oxygene is one of the most original composition of Jean Michel Jarre and it has withstood the test of time and the evolution of digital electronica. The innocence and freshness of his music provide most of its charm and his techniques and ability provide the rest. Excellent show and fantstic music, my dear Sylvie. Oh wow. I remember listening to his music in Italy as a kid. My parents had all his tapes, and they used to get played constantly during his heyday! Timeless...

The heady times of the 80’s and all that it brought to us uniquely as individuals growing up in our late teenage years. Sometimes music transcends everything and brings nostalgia totally back to life. Bless everyone who lived through those times and still remember it as it was and not how the mainstream want us to see it.

My dad got me into JMJ with "Images" which is just one of the soundtracks of my childhood. My GCSE Music composition was based on the very simple but effective beginning dual chords. As well being a lover of Trance music, he's regarded as one of the forefathers of Trance and Electronic music. Fantastic watching him making the music and the level of detail he brings in his performance
