Order Jean-Michel's new album 'aubades': mkx.lnk.to/JMBaubades // aubades marks the Montreal-born musician’s transition from pianist to composer, as he writes for an ensemble for the first time in his career. Written during the pandemic and following a breakup, Blais has used his distinctive musical voice to create a defiantly uplifting record with glistening instrumental textures and warm major tonalities. The album’s title refers to the “aubade”, a Middle Ages morning love song about lovers separating at daybreak, a dawn serenade.

I was at your performance in Toronto a couple days ago! I wasn’t really a huge fan of classical music but decided to buy a ticket to see you, gotta say I felt a little out of place because i’m a teenager and the majority of people were a lot older. The second you started playing I genuinely started to cry, the entire hour and half was breathtaking, from the music to the lights and the way you actually engaged with the audience. By far the best $35 i’ve ever spent, thank you and your team for a wonderful experience, you made me start to appreciate classical even more than before ❤

honestly it’s music like this that really makes you appreciate the art of take a mixture of lovely note and incorporating them into a song. instead of it just being “a song” to me it feels like a story being told but through notes. the constant change in notes is taking my mind through a lovely symphony of stories & as a teenager it really encourages me to appreciate the true art of classical music🌟

Je vous remercie du fond du cœur! Je ne sais pas comment j'ai découvert cette pièce d'art. Apparemment, elle m'a été recommandé par l'algorithme de KZfaq. Le sentiment qu'elle a éveillé en moi est ineffable.🦋 Les larmes me sont montées aux yeux en écoutant les notes de chaque chanson. Je me suis senti embrassé, bercé. Après plusieurs jours difficiles, j'ai été envahi par un tendre sentiment de joie . Je ne sais pas comment l'expliquer. Ma chanson préférée a été "Amour". Qué bella es! Je vais commander le vinyle. I also was at one of your recent performances, but in Bristol, UK. I'm afraid I didn't know you, but booked purely on a whim and was swept away. I purchased your first album, II, and its the purest music I've ever heard - I love it. You played so beautifully, and with your colleagues, my husband and I so enjoyed the evening. Thank you.

I stumbled across a song, "amour", on a playlist for reading a few days ago. Ever since, I've been listening to this album on repeat. I've never listened to contemporary classical music before. You are hands down my favorite composer! I love this album so much.

oh my god. I discovered this album through the song amour too. It was on a playlist that had something to do with beeing the main charakter in a romance novel. I'm so lucky I stumbled across it

Découvert ce bijou ce matin, entre le verlas, la peur de la guerre, la pandémie, les tracas du quotidien. Ce son et cette richesse musicale vient mettre une trame sonore sur nos évènement de la vie à la perfection. Les envolées nous donnent une énergie et nous mets en pause également. Belle découverte qui saura colorée mes soirées d'été.

bonjour, toute cette musique m'a été recommandée le jour de sa sortie par youtube, un peu avant ma rentrée universitaire du deuxième semestre, je vivais quelques problèmes personnels et elle m'a vraiment accompagnée. merci c'est magnifique, un bonheur d'entendre ça même si certaines sont un peu tristes. I stumbled upon this album while searching for more contemporary classical music similar to Einaudi. I’ve been a piano player since I was very young and spent my teenage years playing flute in my school’s band. This album is one of the few (if not the only) piece of music that was able to transport me back to the small band room Id visit daily in my youth. The energy and connectedness that is simply electric is so incredibly powerful. Thank you Jean-Michel, for re-awakening the deep passion for music in me, you’ve inspired me to purchase a new Piano and get back into playing!

Showing a whole new layer of talent on this album. A composer now? I hear something like Wim Mertens here, who I always considered to be in a class of his own, but you have broken through...out of nowhere. And it still has your signature sound.
