Likewise, I guess it is evidence of the unlimited expressive capacity of the instrument and its unendless life. You should try Piazzolla, the harpsichord amazingly has a very similar tone as the bandoneón. Very best.

You need an Harpsichord with sustain pedal i don't even know if that exist.

Excellent, very well articulated!!!! Plays such a dinamic range in an instrument where pressing harder do not make the tone louder. Bullet playing pianists please learn from Jean Rondeau, how to play this correctly!!!! Also I love how he keeps the sustained bass notes pressed when possible, and plays the rest with right hand!

This is what I keep saying for years now: every classical pianist should take lessons on Harpsichord, clavichord, organ, synthesizers! It helps building an overview of the different possibilities each keyboard has, and stepping out from clichés on the piano itself.

Quelle musicalité (comme toujours, par ailleurs, avec Jean Rondeau), quelle audace, aussi, de "penser" cette oeuvre pour piano de Debussy au clavecin... Et pourtant, dès la première note, on est convaincu : il est vrai que l'écriture de l'oeuvre - et en-dehors de son timbre - se prête parfaitement au jeu (tenues, arpèges...). Et puis, cela permet de redécouvrir l'oeuvre, parce qu'on l'entend autrement.

I think this is probably as convincing a case for playing Debussy on the harpsichord that any artist could possibly make, and I found it very interesting. That said… I’m not convinced.

If, like me, you abhor the idea of playing Bach on a piano, then I suppose you have to abhor the idea of playing Debussy on a harpsichord. But if your name is Rondeau then you can get away with anything.
