I follow few ring makers, they own all kind of tools designed for only this purpose. You managed to make a ring out of a coin without any of those tools and it looks amazing. You are a genius bro. love you

A very long time ago when I was a kid in the Navy we used to take a half dollar, and pound it with a soup spoon to make a ring. You could hear it all over the ship and it took forever.

Dennis B. Hays still doable on Quarters but it takes a lot longer. Half dollars usually contained silver so its softer

Who cares about stupid laws, only fool would obey nonsensical absurd rules. If coin had actual value or dollar then maybe, however destroying something you own the “value” lost is yours as cannot spend it. So silly argument, central banking is slavery. WW2 was this issue.

It’s... a drill. It’s literally just a drill, it just has a rotating handle. If you have a stable clamp you can still just drill with a hand tool.

Growing up in the 70's-80's we didn't have use of power tools we did everything by hand and we sometimes used old Nickles. We would use a spoon to pound the outer shape until we got the thickness we wanted, then we drilled a hole (hand crank drill). then we would grind the inside until it was the thickness we wanted, all in all it would take about a week to do.

Michelle Lynn Fine Art hello!!the ring your dad made for your morher...he probly didn't use power tools!!!mine taught me with a silver1953 quarter..but we use s spoon to tap ridges flat and use a hand sugar to bore them out. have made my daughter's like this with a silver nickel same way..and it's her favorite piece!!!!takes time but the payoff is rewarding!!!!

If you use 220 grit, then 500 grit and then 1500 grit, then polish with dough will look much better. Congratulations!

you always can use 2-3 layers of a good varnish (like the ones used for cars surface) to keep it glossy and minimize the chances

The American Quarter is made of Copper and Nickel, so it should be safe if you decide to use it.
