I had an issue with my 1997 gauges being intermittent, the fix was removing the square connector in the internal fuse panel and spraying it down with contact cleaner and replacing it. I had been living with that problem for 25 years!

Ok. I fixed this issue: it was the IOD fuse [15 amp blue] I narrowed down the short by checking wires to the doors, tailgate and I removed the dome lights to check in the roof for shorts. All good. Then I remembered I had installed new speakers in the doors yesterday, so I checked those out and one of the wires had fallen out of the connector and shorted on the door, causing the fuse to blow. I'll have to get new speaker connectors and this time I'll use electrical tape. Thanks for the video, I spent all day researching

At some point there was a recall that moved the airbag module to the center console from under the seat.

Daaaaang you are a genius man this this about unplug the airbag under the seat fix this shit of NO BUS that I have for years in my 99 jeep cherokee dude I try soy many things but this video was the key. Thank you so much because without you and you video I won't make it. Bless you bro!

For what it's worth check your battery, I replaced mine and a bunch of issues resolved. Was due to lower voltage even though battery seemed fine.

after holding the reset button all my lights do the dance but my gages stand still i tested all my fuses both panels and i tried most grounds anyone know?

You should have just swapped out the Air Bag Mogul now your Air Bag's are Disconnected. with all the mud i see all over your Dash there's a good chance the Mogul under the seat got wet. Just a Guess.

So I’m having a similar issue, when I did that restart it did the dance but then nothing, I couldn’t find an airbag module under my seat and it has the airbag light, I also have the dome lights and they won’t turn off, I don’t know if it’s the wiring harness in the dash or if it’s one of the switches

@1:05 your oil pressure gauge jumps to 60psi did you have a bad oil sender? Mine is 20psi off on the test and without the engine on (and no oil pressure sender connected or a new mopar sender)it shows 20psi, I think its a faulty gauge cluster

I had my headliner replaced yesterday on my '97 XJ Country and now my gage cluster is dead. I have no idea how he could have monkeyed with something but I've never had the gage cluster die without the battery going out...and yet the car runs just fine. Drove it twice yesterday evening (albeit slowly, since I couldn't monitor my speed).

Where did you ground it to?

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee xj sport. And (only)at night my no key light comes and stays on. (Only) my speed gauge and my rpm gauges flat line while I’m driving and my airbag light come on, then goes off and my Speedo/ rpm come back to normal function. Then my airbag come on and my gauges flatline again and my check engine light comes on and it displays a no bus code. If I smack under the steer wheel or push on the cluster it goes away for a few moments. (Except for the key light it stays on) then it starts it all over again.

I have a 1994 XJ and, the voltage gauge has always read around 14.4-14.5 volts when driving, but the past couple weeks it's been showing 13.0-13.9 volts when driving. I've never seen it that low before in the 10+ years that I've owned it. I've checked the battery with my multimeter several times, including this morning with it running and all accessories on and my meter is routinely showing 14.35-14.37 volts with everything on and 14.45 volts with it running and all accessories off. Have these cluster voltage gauges been known to just randomly lose their accuracy all of a sudden, after so many years? Anything else I should be looking at, or should I assume everything is okay in the charging system? Thanks!

Now the where the clusters plug into the jeep can u take those apart or do u have to slice every wire and rewire it a new meter on the jeeps dash

I have a 1998 grand cherokee gauges stopped working after an ecm replacement, battery started to drain, Ive replaced the battery about twice in a month so there was a fuse draining it from the cluster. Guy put a new cluster in and said the draining is fixed but the gauges still don't work any ideas?

After you disconnected the airbags did you plug it back in or left it unplugged?

Holy fuckin' corrosion batman, you need to buy yourself 2 cans of spray on urethane sealant and take that sumbitch apart. Wire brush the piss out of every electrical ground you see (and of course use CRC's -non-aerosol- DEGREASER spray - comes in a black spray container usually by the Purple Power in Advance Auto Parts) followed by pressurized air (100-140 PSI) and THEN spray with QD CRC cleaner, followed by another round of pressurized air. That will THOROUGHLY clean out all corrosion, then spray ground with the urethane sealant. DO NOT SPRAY ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, DO NO OVERCOAT THE PISS OUT OF SAID ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS WITH Di-Electric GREASE! It will break the electrical contacts and you will be removing everything to clean that junk off. I have learned the hard way di-electrical grease should be used conservatively and only on spark plugs. Just because you can buy a large squirt bottle doesn't mean you should use it on every contact you see. It doesn't conduct electricity and where there is higher resistance in an electrical circuit the voltage will drop across it reducing overall voltages and shutting off circuits (resulting in "weird" electrical problems, the same as if it was just plain corroded).
