Let's face it, among the most anticipated “European” cars of this 2021 there was certainly her: the new Jeep Compass. It has finally arrived in presentation, ça va sans dire, digital, and it is therefore time to discover all the innovations and features of a hugely successful model for Jeep: 200,000 units sold since 2017, which have allowed Compass to reach 40% of the total sales of the American brand. The aesthetic prerogatives, proportions and dimensions remain unchanged: to change for the Compass 2021 are the details of what is, in effect, a facelift. The famous seven louvers of the grille are maintained, now framed following a stylistic course devoted to horizontality with a more subtle shape. An inclined and bent downward development is dedicated to the split lower grille, while the light signature of the front daytime running LEDs is also revised. The lateral aesthetic lines remain unchanged, with the trapezoidal wheel arches and the rounded and muscular ribs, with different configurations for the body guards: Sport, Longitude and Limited keep the dark plastics at the bottom, while the paint in the body color is available from from the S, up to the Trailhawk. The latter, the most adventurous of the Compass range, has a different design of the “seven slopes” grille, as well as a higher front skidplate with greater protection of the body off-road. In the rear, certainly the least changed view of the Compass 2021, the LED headlights stand out with a square “U” light signature. The concept of horizontality is also taken up in the passenger compartment of the new Compass, with the dashboard configurable in different upholstery: fabrics, Nappa leather, aluminum and carbon. The cabin is entirely devoted to “European elegance” and functionality, with new digital instruments and more space for passengers and gloveboxes: an example of all is the central tunnel which hides a compartment with a capacity of 5 liters. The most novelty of the passenger compartment is obviously the 10.1 "optional display of the new Compass - starting from a modest 8.4". It boasts an Android-based Uconnect 5 operating system, equipped with Over-The-Air connectivity and updates. All Compasses have wireless charging available for the smartphone, as well as wireless connectivity to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The technological equipment also includes Amazon Alexa, TomTom navigation connected in live and the My Uconnect app: it is possible to check tire pressure, battery charge status in the 4Xe versions, monitor maintenance, the navigator, air conditioning and the alarm. . An interesting novelty for the Compass is the Full HD digital instrumentation behind the steering wheel, thanks to a 10.25 ”display. However, technology mainly involves driving safety, and the Compass 2021 boasts several ADAS: recognition of road signs and speed limits, detection of driver fatigue, automatic emergency braking with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists, and highway assist which combines lane centering and adaptive cruise control. Waiting to discover the price list of the Jeep Compass 2021, the range already appears quite complete, with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines. Starting from the former, the 1.3 GSE turbo 4-cylinder is offered in a 130 bhp configuration combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, or 150 bhp with the automatic double clutch; the diesel offered is the 1.6 Multijet II, with 130 HP, capable of releasing 320 NM of torque and combined with the 6-speed manual gearbox. Finally, the 4Xe plug-in hybrid variant: by recharging the modest 11.4 kWh battery pack at a street charging station or with the official Wallbox it is possible to travel about 50 km in fully electric mode, with a maximum speed of 130 km / h, or go up in hybrid mode up to 200 km / h. This hybrid version of the new Compass is offered in 190 or 240 HP declination, thanks to the 60 HP electric motor combined with the 1.3 GSE which, mounted on the rear axle, makes the Compass 4-wheel drive and allows excellent acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds.
