Sock Danna 44 axels "maybe" for 37's. Your the 1st person I've ever heard say that. Just watched a guy 'wheeling' on 40's & stock axels waiting to see when they brake. It's been almost 2 years and their still running. He knows it's not recommended but still going. Got to watch out when you dispense such knowledge-you never know someone might just believe that.

Yep my wheels are 30lbs and my Falken 35s weight 74lbs. I didn't notice a big difference, but still there is some difference. My tires stick out 2". Luckily my JT has the heavy duty brakes and 4.10 gears. I have lifted 2" with Mopar lift. Wheels are 17" x 8.5" Tactik T-742 with 5" backspace +6 offset. Thank's for the video!

I have a very similar approach to you when it comes to wheels and tires. I ran OE wheels on my last vehicle for 15 years because there was just no reason to swap them. With the Gladiator I find the rim size to be very limiting; thank you for the detailed breakdown. I've been looking at Method wheels but trying to figure out exactly what backspacing and offset to run.
@balzonyr4head

Bigger tires/wheels increase rolling weight and mass, makes your brakes work harder, changes your inclination angle and steering scrub radius. It also adds pressure on different components within your front end (tie rods, ball joints). Lots of stuff people don't think about.
@smarterthanyou2674
@smarterthanyou2674 3 жыл бұрын
The gladiator stuff is robust enough to be fine with 37s especially with a lightweight zero offset wheel like he has
@balzonyr4head
@balzonyr4head 3 жыл бұрын
@@smarterthanyou2674 I didn't say it wasn't robust enough, the vehicle was engineered with something completely different. Larger tires increase rolling mass which changes quite a bit.

Love the setup and thanks for the well made and researched video. I'm thinking of a very similar setup on my Rubi, but noticed those same Method 703's also come with a +25mm offset. Would you anticipate any interior rubbing with those wheels, versus the 0 offset wheels you elected to mount? Running a +25 mm offset might result in the exterior of the tire lying in-line with the fender, and prevent potential damage from debris kick-up. Thanks.

2020 JLUR - 3.5" Metalcloak Game Changer, STOCK wheels, BFG 35x12.5x17. Chalk tested the tires and run them at 34psi. Rotate them every 3k miles. Contact patch is perfect. Smaller wheel is the poor mans beadlock, I have never lost a bead and go down to 15psi on trail. Will be putting Nitto 37's on the stock wheel soon. Only worry is rub on control arms at full turn. Weight is a serious consideration, braking, mileage, etc. Get a Tazer. Just my experience so far. Good details!!!

I have the rubicon gladiator, terraflex 1.5 in front and daystar. 75 in the rear. I had 35s going to 37s tomorrow on stock jl rubicon wheels with 1.5 wheel spacers. I ran the same wheels and tires and wheel spacers on my Sahara jlu. With a 3 in lift. The 35s look small on the gladiator. If I don't like it I'll put the 35s back on.

Thank you for explaining things in such a good simple way. I like what you put out on you tube. I am also looking for a camper that I can pull with my Gladiator and I like your Lance. Do you really think the Gladiator can tow that one you have comfortably. I also have 4:10 gears on 37 in tires and I would think going to 4:88 is a must for towing that trailer.

Just put Toyo MT 35 x 12.5 x 17 with a set of the QuadraTec ‘41 wheels which are 8.5” wide with a +10 offset on my Sport S Max Tow along with the 2” Mopar lift. It is also Hydro Blue and it changes the look dramatically! It actually looks like a Jeep and my smile gets bigger every time I drive it. Since I will be adding air lockers soon, I’ll likely go ahead and re-gear to 4.56, but with the 4.10’s I am not in any hurry. Thanks for the information.

PSA... you don't need to buy a rubicon if you already plan on doing this. More likely than not you plan on gearing above a 4.10:1 gearing ratio, meaning no need to spend extra money on the rubicon badging. Save that cash and buy a better lift kit and go ahead and re gear to 4.5 or whatever your preference is. No reason to hate on the "lower" packages.

I have a '21 Glad Rubi Diesel on 37s, 17x9 w/ 3.75" backspace, it pokes out just a bit more than yours, but with 37s it gives me that clearance so no rubbing in the front lock to lock. Its on a 3.5" Metalcloak lift and I've swapped the front driveshaft to an Adams 1350. My wheel / tire combo is on the heavier side (beadlocks), but with the diesel it's not a huge deal.

I have the sport with max tow, keeping in mind that I’m trying to keep my towing capacity high, would 34s with a leveling kit in the front and possibly a small one in the rear be a good idea? I’m not trying to absolutely murder my mpg either since I do get around 22.5mpg average in the summer with the A/T stock tires I have right now. 35s would be cool but I don’t want to possibly run into problems rubbing. Any idea on how much “X” tire size will effect towing?

You will feel any increase in tire size when towing - it feels less powerful. I noticed a big drop going to the 35;s from my stock 33's, and my mpg went from 19 to 16. 34's might be OK, watch your wheel weight as well. a one or two inch lift won't kill you.

What did you do with your max towing package jeep and tires/lift/etc?? And how well does that version with max towing perform ? How much can you pull?!

Did you have to buy new lug nuts for those wheels? Looking at those same wheels for my JT in the +25mm offset available to preorder. Ty

Tire rack gave me new lug nuts yes. I was also thinking of the +25 but I was tired of waiting.

Whatever people say and drive with stock rims and larger tires it will one day cause issue simple because the bead of tyre in too narrow rim will seat in the rim at angular position because the air push the tyre out. That could be in highway some one life not necessary owner of the rim but 3rd party like in most accident cases.
