if the battery goes dead, you can just use your key fob to push the button in. that way it reads the transponder

My 2011 GL450 Mercedes has the same ignition. I have tried this with my 2016 Grand Cherokee, but I can’t pop the start button out.

Well if you need to start a WK series Grand Cherokee (2014 onwards), just remove the battery and push the fob on the start button. Try that first before you actually remove and possibly damage the start button on other Jeeps.

Question? Could this work in reverse. Let’s say all you have is the fob with no push button. Can you get a push button, stick it in and be on your way? Or is it more complicated than that?
