JEEP JK HEMI SWAP Ep.1 - How to remove a 3.8l V6

In this video I show you how I removed my 3.8 litre V6. I’m removing this perfectly running rebuild, to put in a 5.7 litre Hemi out of a 2020 Dodge Durango RT.
This motor is considered an LX category Hemi, or termed a car Hemi. These are found in:
Jeep grand Cherokee’s
Chargers
Chrysler 300c
Challengers and Durango’s.
The advantage to using a car Hemi, is the clearance you gain in the engine bay in regards to the fan, allowing a bigger radiator and aftermarket fan assembly.

Thanks for the detailed video ! Do you leave the vehicle in park for the entire procedure ?

Yes I did. With the driveshafts still attached to the transfer case and transmission, it won't roll anywhere. But once the driveshafts are removed, it will be free to roll on an uneven surface. Put something behind the wheels to stop it from rolling. But if you're just doing a rebuild and not touching the driveshafts, you have nothing to worry about. Good luck!

Thanks for posting. About to tackle this on my 08 JK. Any reason you didn’t take the drivetrain out as an assembly with the hoist?

I explain this in the next video. But I chose that route for the guys just doing a rebuild on the 3.8l. But yes, It would have been much easier to pull the whole assembly at once.

I heard you mention that but wasn’t sure if there was another reason. Good idea as I don’t think there are alot of videos of just pulling the 3.8L alone!

Nope that was the only reason I went that route @@TwebaMH I haven't come across any 3.8L removals. So I thought I'd help out the guys needing a little guidance.
