Quick overview of how to diagnose why your Jeep Wrangler JK has NO HEAT. This is in a 2014 model and it ends up being a faulty temperature blend door actuator which is a very common failure on these. If your engine is not getting up to operating temp or one/both of the heater core hoses are cold this video wont help you. `

(2014 Jeep Wrangler JK) I actually just fixed it w/out having to take anything apart...The plastic arm was just jammed in the spline shaft. I laid my head underneath, awkwardly, and shined a flashlight on the white arm and pushed on it till it moved. I turned the Jeep on and switched from cold to hot and it worked on its own. 😊 Thanks for the video!

2014 Wrangler JK, no heat. Moved the plastic arm up the spline shaft. Heat is working. Of course, I had it mostly torn apart before I realized I could see the actuator arm from underneath the dash. Very awkward node positioning, but know I know that is indeed a quick fix. Thank you for the video and this comment! 🤙

Wow, thank you!! Great freaking video!! I’m in the process of learning more and more about fixing my Jeep Wrangler 2013 JK. I recently had bad clicking in my dash and my steering controls weren’t working on right side. I replaced the actuator but blindly not realizing the air duct was so easy to remove (being novice). Thus creating my AC/heating system to stay in the “heating” position. It’s looking like based off this video I set the arm in the wrong position. Wish I found this video when I first replaced my actuator 🤪 thanks again dude for great audio, video, and explanation 🤘

Great video. One helpful tip: i believe in most JK's that airduct is actually split lenghwise ("two halves"), so if you press on the sides it will pop open and then it is very easy to remove and reinstall WITHOUT having to unbolt that module in the back. Will save you some extra tinkering and bolt dropping ;)

Great video; however my air duct's removal was the most difficult part of the job. I highly recommend splitting the air duct prior to attempting to removing, it made it much easier. The same can be said as to the reinstallment of the air duct, install the part that clips to the vehilce first, followed by the end that snaps to the air duct.

Your video showed that the replacement is cheaper than my warranties deductible so I’ll do it myself! Thanks so much EDIT: wasn’t my issue. The engine hoses were hot and the dial of heater was communicating with the actuator. I saw the actuator move as it should as I turned the dial. SMH

In my case (2011 JK), the pivoting arm was just jammed in the cold position. Without taking anything apart and laying on my back in the footwell, I took a look upwards directly above the gas pedal area and with a flashlight had a pretty clear view of the mechanism. With the key on I rotated the dial and nothing was moving. I used a piece of wood dowel to poke and prod the part around a bit, heard a click sound, and it came back to life. I sprayed some white lithium grease on it and it seems good to go. I'm still going to buy a new part though and replace it in the very near future. Thanks for the video!

This was a great video, but I would recommend you tell folks to remove the bracket that is next to the floor vent and held on by two 8 mm bolts, this provides enough room to actually get your hands in there. ALSO, I would strongly recommend you tell folks to REMOVE the driver's seat (a pretty simple task) to allow room to work. I notice in your video there are two bolts laying on the floorboard that appear to match the front seat retaining bolts. BTW the floor vent was really hard to pull out.. :)

I'm having the same problem (not blowing warm) and am doing the research to help me troubleshoot it. I have read that if you've narrowed it down to a dead blend door actuator, no movement out of the arm, etc, before you go to the trouble of removing and replacing the actuator, try unplugging the actuator, plug it back in, and see if the actuator now moves. Some people have reported this "reboot" got their actuator functioning again. It may or may not work for you, but it's worth a quick try before replacing it.

In your case. You may need to pull one of the heater hoses and fill them with fluid. If it's not the blend door, it's just air in the line to the heater.

@witchesbru67 2 жыл бұрын
@@craigmitchels272, well it wasn't the blend door. That was operating correctly. I decided to remove all the coolant and replace it. Also back-flushed the heater core and "burped" the system......that seemed to do the trick. The heating temp went from 120F to 145F....outstanding!

Back in February, I took my 2014 Jeep, same as in the video, to get the heater fixed, he charged me $126 for the actuator, and $95 to replace it. I figured I was being overcharged, but, if it works, I'll take the hit since I have very little mechanical experience. In other words, like most people, I'm at their mercy. When I picked up my Jeep, I turned on the heater and hot air blew out. So I paid and off I went. I live in Southern California so I haven't had much need for the heater. Fast forward to November, I turn on the heater, and no hot air. I did like the video says and checked the hoses while running, and they were warm, so it's the actuator that I paid over $200 to replace. I'm pissed off. I'm going in tomorrow to see if the guy will correct his shoddy work. today, when I get home, I'm going to look inside by removing the plate and see if I can check on the little door lever and see if it's stuck. Thank you for the video.

Yeah, that little doo dad that you weren't sure of, (at about 2:40) is the control unit for the automatic transmission, or TCM. It has 2 connectors that run the length of the bottom of the module, both with locking squeeze tabs. They require a firm pull straight down after squeezing the lock tab, to disconnect, and a firm push to reseat. I normally disconnect the negative battery terminal before disconnecting electrical connectors, especially when they connect to a computer, but I failed to do that this time and wound up with a U0101 fault code. I disconnected the battery, and went back in to reseat, and discovered one of the connectors wasn't locked in all the way. I don't know if the code was the result of failure to disconnect the battery, or failure to properly seat the connector, but I suspect the latter. Anyway, I was able to clear the code with my little cube code reader even though it said it couldn't be cleared that way. Thanks for the video, it helped me bypass a dodgy hvac control module so that I could have heat while I await the part to arrive.

Nice. Great video. I had 4 videos lined up to watch, but this one says it all. You pointed out everything that might be going wrong, so I'll be checking all that in the morning. Thanks for posting this.

OK - So I watched the other videos anyway just for a comparison, and I kept wanting to pop the link to your video into a comment and tell them to go see how an instructional should be done. I didn't want to be mean though, so I won't do that. Your video is far superior in every way. It's quick and to the point, no nonsense, no cutesy video tricks... nothing but what I needed to see. Thanks again!

With all the good reviews I’m confused about what I’m doing wrong. The floor vent that looked like it slid to the left, pretty easily, is shattered into many pieces and the end with the tabs is still in place. Any suggestions on how to get that out?

I do have a question for you, I found your video well looking for a "how to flush your heater core" video. I also just changed my engine coolant temperature sensor. Should I have had engine coolant spill out of the sensor port when I remove the original. I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler rubicons 3.6.

@@richgran I'm not sure I understand your question. Yeah it's normal for some coolant to spill out of the temp sensor port

@@NoNonsenseKnowHow I figured so, I asked because I didnt get any spillage, but was expecting it to spill out when I removed the sensor. I'll check the fluid level next. Thanks for your reply.

Sometimes it doesn't spill if the system is completely full and the radiator cap is on. That is normal also

Great video, blocked heater matrix is also a known cause for no heat, which can be flushed out fairly easily.

@@stephenwayne7055 Basically small metal tubing with 'fins' that acts like a car radiator to distrubute heat/cold into the car. They're usually buried behind the dashboard and can clog up if the car is left standing for long periods.
