I hear so many conflicting opinions on what additional work needs to be done if you go higher than 2.5". I've got a 2011 Rubicon UL, and I've got Bushwacker flat flares, currently running 33" tires. I'm about to lift it, and have primarily been looking at the Teraflex 2.5" lift, as I'd read that more than that and you need to start looking at driveline mods, etc. But then I see videos like this with a 3" lift, and no mention of any other driveline or suspension mods. What am I missing?

So i have a stock 2016 JKU automatic in 3.73gear ratio. I just took added a 3.5" lift and replaced the stock 32 tires with 35x12.50 tires. I am looking at getting a FlashCal as seen in this video, but am curious about its ability to adjust shift switching. Does this system automatically adjust shift points when the new tire size is input...I wont be changing the stock 3.73 gear ratio so dont see the need to change it in the Flash cal either, but wasnt sure if this will accomplish what want with better shift points.. Any help?

@extremeterrain
@extremeterrain 8 жыл бұрын
+stndpenguin We didn't add one but you definitely can! With this much lift it is usually recommended but the only way to tell for sure would be to disconnect the swaybar and flex it to see if you have a clearance issue between the front driveshaft and the exhaust! For this Jeep, we know it would spend most of it's time on the road, so it wasn't necessary! - Will

@flybyav8tor
@flybyav8tor 8 жыл бұрын
+Dil Patel I would put it up on stands and check to see if it stops the axle from dropping more at full droop once the lift is installed. I have seen JK rubi's max out the sway bar link at full droop. Just depends on the amount of articulation your suspension will provide. Stock arms dont flex much so you might not droop enough to need a longer link.

@llamaman6091
@llamaman6091 8 жыл бұрын
With a 2 inch lift you really should think hard about maybe running a 33 inch tire. I have a 2.5 inch lift and was just high enough to do a 35 but I also had to get flat fenders and new inner fenders in order to fit the 35s. You really don't have to re gear u till you start messing with the control arms so pretty much anything 3 inches and up.
@flybyav8tor
@flybyav8tor 8 жыл бұрын
+Mark Fisch I strongly recommend a 3.5" lift or a 2.5" lift with hi fenders. You will not be able to get the full articulation of the font axle. 35s with those high gears will be rough. I had a buddy almost rear end me coming down a steep hill offroad. He couldnt stay slow because his gears are so high. and every time he hit the brake he would just slide. I would reccomend at least lower gears. 4.56 or 4.88 if you plan to offroad any.

@BoKieAntraXX310
@BoKieAntraXX310 8 жыл бұрын
5.13 would be way too much for 35s. If you have the pentastar 3.6 then for 35s youd be good with 4.56 gears. 5.13s only if youre gonna use the jeep strictly for offroad. But if you use it as a daily driver your MPG is gonna be shit. If you wanna keep some mpg and performance, i would do 4.56 gears. If you have the 3.8 engine then 5.13 would be fine. Other than that, 4.56 is the way to go.

@extremeterrain
@extremeterrain 7 жыл бұрын
I think it all depends on what you're trying to get out of your Wrangler Alex! If you're looking to put some mods on right away then the 2016 was the right choice. The JL will for sure have mods available shortly after production, but it will take some companies a little while to develop aftermarket parts for them. Either way you made the right choice by buying a Wrangler! What are your plans for your new 2016? -Jake

I heard lift kits are murder on your driveshafts, and that you will have to get them replaced regularly. How much stock should I put in that?
@extremeterrain
@extremeterrain 7 жыл бұрын
If you regularly wheel your rig and flex the suspension out then longer driveshafts are recommended for sure! As for regular street driving and light trails, the factory drive-line should hold up well. Although as with any type of suspension modification there is bound to be stress on other factory components. -Jake
@lvmybears
@lvmybears 8 жыл бұрын
So you didnt need to put a new driveshaft on the jeep after the lift.I thought over 2.5 inches of lift you could have problems with the front driveshaft.Ty
@extremeterrain
@extremeterrain 8 жыл бұрын
+Ahoohi At 2.5" you should start thinking about Driveshafts. On a 4 door, the DS angle isn't quite as bad due to the longer wheel base so you don't have to be as concerned about picking up a new Driveshaft, however any time you life a Jeep and change your Driveline geometry you do want to monitor and maintain your Driveshaft and other similar components. - Will

@raulhuerta3964
@raulhuerta3964 8 жыл бұрын
+RJ Moore no you don't
@extremeterrain
@extremeterrain 8 жыл бұрын
+RJ Moore Depending on the actual diameter of the tire, it may or may not fit on the factory spare mount without contacting the bumper. However, I always recommend adding either a bumper or tub mounted tire carrier when you have such a large, heavy spare, otherwise the weight of the large spare can cause damage to the tailgate, hinges, or the factory carrier itself. Hope this helps! - Will

Youve got to be kidding me. These new import Jeeps really need all this crap? Willys conqured the world on 28s, 60hp, and no lift. 70 year tech advantage and Chrysler still cant build a proper Jeep?

What's the minimum lift required to run 35 on a 2015 Sahara? And I mean complete.

+Edgardo Amado I have a 2012 Sahara Unlimited and have 35's with the teraflex 2.5" lift with shock extensions. I do have the flighty feeling he mentioned but at full flex we have no rubbing what so ever after removing the factory air dam.

+Edgardo Amado Hey man! On the street, you can run 35's with no lift and flat fenders or even with a leveling kit, but if you are an avid Off-roader and will be doing some flexing, I would highly recommend lifting your rig at least 2.5". Hope this helps! - Will
