First, I love your content. You do an awesome job describing pros & cons as well as how to videos. I agree with you on most things, but I'm going to have to disagree with the flares. True the off-roading will cause paint chips, IF one doesn't either DIY place clear paint protection on the painted flares or have it done professionally. I know this cost, but I think at least placing this on the flares & I also put it on the hood as well. The problem I have with the black plastic flares is the chips still show & there is no protection you can do for those, PLUS my biggest issue is the fading of the plastic over time. Anyway, that is my two cents. I think placing clear PPF is the way to go

This Wrangler had the paint protection on the flares. After a year of wheeling , it was full of holes and dirt was getting underneath it. The same thing is happening on my 392 Wrangler. The flares on my Gator Gladiator are the black plastic ones and have small chunks missing from them from years of driving on gravel. That doesn't look great, but it's not as noticeable as it would be on a painted flare. I agree with you completely that the plastic fades (and too rapidly at that). I just haven't had good enough luck with the PPF to put any faith in it.

@@Ali_Mansour_Editor I did my friend who owns a shop apply more or extra PPF on my fenders & hood. I will say my 2020 Gladiator is not my primary crawler. I overland with it but it still sees a fair amount of off-road. I also replaced the PPF twice since owning it. My 99 TJ that I built from the ground up for rock crawling, I Raptor-lined it. AB’s it has done great. I’m hoping to add a 392 to my lineup of I can find the right deal with the car market going down. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

Great video! I also always go with a 3.6L and 8-speed. Great combo and very reliable!

Fantastic! Thank you for putting this together. I’m a big fan of keeping it as low as possible, while still getting some bigger tires on for the trails. Your final setup looks like perfection. 👍✌️

I appreciate you documenting your builds Ali. I have used some of mod ideas on my own. Now, if only I could trade mine for a 392. 😬

We prefer cloth seats in Arizona, too. It gets hot AF here in the summer.

i see the NC plate! do you have a list of recommended trails in the state? i live in the charlotte burbs about an hour from uwharrie but haven't checked it out yet. also would love to find some trails in pisgah - sometimes the forest roads there are open but they're usually hit or miss
@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor 3 ай бұрын
Uwharrie is your best best for good trails close to you. Start off on the Lake View Trail, then hit wolf den followed by falls damn. If want something more challenging, Dickey Bell and Dutch John are great. The hardest trail in Uwharrie is Daniel. Easy trails however can be difficult if it’s wet. The next closest wheeling venue for you is Gulches OHV. Hurricane Creek is fun, but that’s a long drive from Charlotte.

Really enjoy your videos. I’ve got the 2” dynatrac lift and currently on 35s. It is a nice set up. Want to make the step up to 37s and know there will be some rubbing unless I tweak a few things. I’ve already got the 2” rear bump stop. Could add an additional 1/2” there. Also Do you feel that chopping your fenders would completely eliminate the chance for rubbing ? Or will some body cutting be necessary? TIA
@user-vk7zm2gt3s
@user-vk7zm2gt3s 10 күн бұрын
I’m primarily talking about just the rear - I think the front will be fine and chop would be optional.

If you chop the fenders, you’ll have plenty of room and no issues with rubbing.

Thanks for the information Ali. Whats everything that one would need to change to run 37s on a Rubicon (3.6L - Manual transmission - 4.88 gear ratio)?
@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor 5 ай бұрын
I would look at a 5.13 over the 4.88 with the manual. Beyond that, I wouldn’t worry too much about axle upgrades unless you are really going to push it in the rocks. Even then, RCV axleshafts would be all I would do until the ball joints gave out. After that, a set of Dynatrac ball joints would be next on my list.

I was happy with the Dynatrac kit. If you wanted something a little taller with more options, I like the JKS 2.5 kit.

Ali what’s your opinion about long arms, I’m planning to install EVO long arms on my JLUR
@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor 5 ай бұрын
That’s a great long arm system. I think it has the highest ground clearance and it comes with Johnny Joints. I’ve seen that kit with the EVO coilovers on the trail. It works awesome. EVO makes great stuff.

Ali quick question, when you put your jl 392 in 2wd with the tazer does your 4auto light on the dash flicker on and off really fast at random times ? Mine does and has since install. The 4auto like will light up and turn off about 4 times and then turns off completely it’ll happen every 10 minutes or so
@Ali_Mansour_Editor

Yes. Mine flashes as well. ZAutomotive says it’s normal.

I installed the Tazer mini in my JL392 last week and have being driving it around in 2WD. If I drive across state about 450 miles only briefly stopping for fuel in 2WD will my rear diff explode ? lol is that to much load for to long for the diff in 2WD? I’ll be climbing in elevation a lot but i like the way it drives in 2wd
@Ali_Mansour_Editor
@Ali_Mansour_Editor 3 ай бұрын
I don’t think it really makes it significant impact for the highway. If you’re slamming on the gas right off the line, that’s really where you’re putting the most load. I’ve got thousands of miles on the 392 in 2WD, knock on wood, I’ve never had an issue and the transfer case fluid still looks great.

Thank you for being a flag bearer for the low-CG minimal lift maximum articulation setups on JL platform. I am a huge fan of that philosophy and took a lot of inputs from your JL, 392 and wheel offset videos in setting up my custom lift on 4xe Rubicon. kzfaq.infoQeBK0cPgtMM?feature=share

Ridge Grapplers are definitely not a offroad tire

I found they worked OK in general. They worked great in Moab, but the Trail Grappler is a much better off-road tire for sure.
