I must say, as a 90s kid that grew up on Nightmare on Elm Street since the age of seven or eight, hearing him with the Pee Wee voice sounded less scary but still very creepy because...well, it's Freddy!

I'll be honest, Freddy Krueger looks like a sweet, cuddly bunny next to my real childhood nightmare. It didn't hit me that the Pee Wee doll was the creepiest toy I owned until I looked under my bed one night, and through the darkness saw the lifeless doll staring back at me, with that unsettling smile. It was eventually drawn from the shadows, and I confronted the doll one last time with a pull of the string, expecting to hear Pee Wee's friendly voice, but instead was greeted in a demonic, high-pitched, jarbled mess! Nowadays I know that pull-string dolls' voice boxes eventually wear out and produce weird noises, but for my four-year-old self, this was something out of a horror film!

when my bestfriends little girl was three we all lived in the same house,well I had the dvd set of all the nightmare on elm st. she would sit and watch them back to back and not one time ever had a bad dream or got scared.

Heh, I own that Freddy doll. Also used to have the Pee Wee Herman one when I was a kid (and probably still have it somewhere)--didn't notice that they were from the same company and had the same packaging (and definitely didn't know about the voices getting switched for some--that's hilarious).

It's like someone dreamed they were at Pee-Wee's playhouse and Freddy just ripped out of Pee-Wee's skin.

I had an official freddy kruger doll that was a normal doll underneath with a click together freddy head to go over the the normal dolls head and a click on blade glove, i guess it was supposed to represent freddy before he was burnt to death by the neighbourhood parents.
