And “this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.” Wrong, David. This is the worst thing that’s ever happened to Jeff. This is the worst thing YOU’VE ever done, David. For me, this situation ties with when he covered up that his friend raped a girl and they had footage of the night it happened both before the assault and after when her friend was literally half supporting her weight to get her out of that room. Maiming someone and not taking accountability and not holding your friend accountable for emotionally/ psychologically maiming someone are both horrendous. Rape is emotional/ psychological maiming, btw. You’re never the same after. Life is still worth it and there’s resources but it’s hard.

Yes, David held a gun to Jeff's head, told him to get on the machine and that he would stop swinging the crane till he smashed his head in. @@Clemenza18384 It's an honest deflection on David's part, even if he doesn't mean it to be. He hurt a man by doing something that, according to the victim, he was never supposed to do. He was the one in control. Even if it WAS an accident, he is absolutely legally culpable. If Jeff had died, it probably would have been a manslaughter charge.

It’s gross that David is using Jeff’s pain for an opportunity to look good and get sympathy. Like Jeff said, his injuries are forever, and David broadcasting his feelings about Jeff’s own near-death experience is shameful. None of David’s “sadness” toward the situation is anywhere near what Jeff is experiencing. I hope Jeff will have a long and successful recovery and surround himself with people that actually care for him.

what the fuck? you are trying way too hard bro. I normally don't comment on David Dobrik slander, but the fact that people are dense enough to believe shit like "he's a cult leader" or "he's a sociopathic bastard" is so fucking absurd to me. The whole thing was an accident; they are grown adults and both of them made a stupid decision. It is so clearly an accident, and the fact that people don't see that simply because david dobrik didn't get injured blows my mind. Yeah, it sucks that Jeff got injured, but he is also at fault for trusting an uncertified 26 year old operating a crane. To make comments on how you think each of them are feeling is stupid, too. You have no idea what either of them are going through based off of a fucking youtube video, so don't make any implications there. Since we are making assumptions, though, I would say david has a right to feel distraught, as he was involved in (and partially responsible for) an accident that nearly killed his friend. To try and say that he is using Jeff's pain as an opportunity to look good is so cynical and pessimistic; quit trying to characterize someone based off of opinionated second and third-hand information, thinking you can "see right through him." Its not that deep and he's not that smart.

As someone who has had multiple brain injuries, I can see how Jeff's perceived lack of confidence is due to being overly stimulated by processing the emotions themselves. If he would have paid for his surgeries, his recovery/rehabilitation, and hopefully some damn therapy, and also restitution for pain and suffering. Then I’m sure Jeff feelings or hardships would be different. I’m sure I’ve written more than Jeff ever wanted from David but it just shows how little David gave in return, as soon as Jeff was “ used goods” David wanted to throw a small amount of money at him and be done. That's exactly what I was thinking too. My mom has heavily pushed forgiveness for awful things before, and it always felt gross and like it would never work the way she thought it would but I still had to at least try to forgive. I always ended up just getting more hurt because the people who I "needed to forgive" weren't actually apologetic anyway and didn't want to change. They only wanted me to stop holding them accountable. Now whenever the topic of forgiveness comes up, I feel a strong urge to shake my head no and roll my eyes because I'm so disgusted by the toxic culture around forgiveness. I can super see how he might end up with similar frustrations around his past efforts to forgive and the bad advice he'd gotten to make those efforts, which could very easily show in him slightly shaking his head no.

He is because Jason is always the voice of reason he and Jeff are such good friends you know this has been a topic of deep conversation between them many times. Jason wants so hard to do right by Jeff but at the same time has to do everything he can to stay in David's good graces. It probably was just intensely killing Jeff (for lack of a better word) to watch his friend have to bow down and kiss David's ass in all of this because Jeff knows he basically has to. Just like everyone else in David's revolving door of a cult Jason wouldn't be where he is today without him, so he has to play the middle man in the best way possible without offending David but yet trying to get him to say what Jeff and everyone else deserve to hear. The truth. Imagine if everyone just started saying no to David. He wouldn't have shit. David is the one who should be so grateful and not the other way around. He wouldn't be where he is today if it weren't for al the people he manipulated and bought off to be in his vlogs. Did you know Heath also suffered a dislocated shoulder from a vlog he did for David? I believe it was for the same "come back" video. And look how that got swept under the rug. Zane got hurt on the trip to Hawaii that they were talking talking about. Someone is always getting hurt because of that piece if shit. Todd lost a huge sponsor that cost him like 100K because of a David vlog. David has done so much damage to all of these people. Ran Seth out of California over what happened to him. Trisha ends up in a mental hospital and on and on. I think everyone is finally starting to do well for themselves now. . to the point they don't need David. He's going to just go downhill from here in my opinion. More and more people will start speaking their truth eventually.

This guy Jeff don’t lie. He tells u all about himself anymore. From criminal to bad kid he tells u his “dirty laundry”. The other guy seems like someone to lie to save face. I have had someone I trusted put me in a similar situation where I almost died or became paralyzed from the neck down among other things - so his bitterness and annoyance is justified. He has every reason to feel disgust for him. He has every single right to. Jeff also points out Dave’s victim blaming u name it. He probably had to calm the heck down I would in his position. He’s mad at him and Dave lacks emotions for sure. If he can’t have emotions then he can’t be empathetic compassionate anything like that.

Unfortunately he would not have much luck in civil court, David's lawyers can easily prove that Jeff's actions were equally or almost equally negligible and that he clearly took on an assumption of risk since he knew that David is not licensed or trained to operate that machinery. @@tashpointohhh assumption of risk wont serve as a defence, rather an apportionment of liability. David’s actions were not accidental as he wants to claim. If you hit someone while driving on the road that you didn’t see coming there’s a basis for it being an accident. This right here was negligence. He operated a machine without proper licensing or training, in an uncontrolled environment for all intents and purpose of doing a stunt which could be very dangerous. He could have had a licensed operator handle the machine but he chose not to. There’s a reason for those licenses and the companies who has cranes understands there’s safety protocols they need to have especially for insurance. As for damages Jeff can get way more than what Mr Half-Half is giving. I know this because I deal with this on the regular.

Religion aside, "forgive to move on" shouldn't apply to all people and situations. Sadly, it's often used as a tool that abusers embrace and enforce to get away with terrible actions. "Oh forgive me and we'll all feel better, just don't question my actions or my feelings! Forgiveness is important!" Sometimes forgiveness should be earned. David has been caught up in being "canceled", meanwhile Jeff will have physical and mental trauma for the rest of his life. David isn't sorry. He put on that happy face baseball cap to go on his podcast and have Jason be his Yes Man. This should be the final red flag that anyone who works with David won't come out unscathed.

@@jurassicjaws I'm trained in spiritual care and psychotherapy, so this is a big thing that comes up in my practice: shame around our human emotions and how wrong interpretation of scripture plays in. It's kind of sad that even in the Bible, there are moments where JESUS HIMSELF was angry. He was ANGRY at exploitation he saw in the church, so much so that he went in with a whip and THREW OVER the money tables where they were forcing worshippers to pay needlessly high fees. The bible doesn't tell you to just "get over trauma" and "forgive at personal detriment." It says to be angry and feel your emotions, just don't "sin" or commit evil because of what you're feeling. "Forgive" the person as in understand God has forgiven you of all your human shortcomings, and so don't expect God to hold their shortcomings against them if they are seeking forgiveness and redemption, and don't poison yourself with that kind of bitterness of waiting for their downfall. That doesn't mean you can't feel your human emotions, and it doesn't mean you're God-ordained to be a doormat. The whole "forgiveness" thing NEVER meant to not feel your emotions.

I feel that Jeff Wittek (age 32 as of this post) feels embarrassed and ashamed that he so blindly followed David Dobrik (age 25 as of this post) for so long. Perhaps it is that guilt, diminished self-confidence, that is showing through his body language as not being 100% honest in some topics such as "the roast". Mr Wittek is correct, unless there is a substantial change in David Dobrik and his group, this, or something, will happen again. Sadly David Dobrik keeps bouncing back from scandals any one of which would ordinarily get an influencer "canceled", so I have doubts that he will change until a serious accident becomes something far worse. He is allowing us to see how this has emotionally impacted him and how this video emotionally impacted him, which is something that David has not done. How does David expect anyone to believe that he is innocent and is a morally good person when he does not allow his true emotions or feelings to shine through even ONCE? The sad thing is that if David would have just simply said from the very beginning, "I just hurt my friend, I put him in unnecessary danger, and this is my fault," it would have been a completely different story. Showing both emotion and honesty is incredibly important. Instead, they're both being negatively impacted from this situation, and it could have been avoided even just by some true emotion from David's behalf. It's just sad.

I think the radical shifts in Jeff's emotions could be emotional lability as a result of serious brain trauma. The fact that he goes from completely still to intensely aggressive and back again within minutes can be an indicator of this lability. This was a really interesting analysis! I think Jeff is the most truthful one in this situation and I don't think he tried to paint himself as pure as he admits multiple times he made a very stupid decision by stepping on the crane. Jeff is also Christian I believe so it makes sense for him to try and go the christian route and try to forgive. His slight head movement maybe indicated that it didn't work, clearly lol. I also think Jeff might be embellishing the events when it comes to petty stuff like the roast. However this is 2 years later and I think the guy is just fed up at that point so he doesn't want anything to do with David anymore. Jeff doesn't have much to lose and that alone is worrisome but it does give validity to his claims.
@PrincessDalathiel
@PrincessDalathiel 2 жыл бұрын
I also think his memory recall issues may be related to that. If his brain was hanging out and he went under a lot of anesthesia, not to mention memory suppression surrounding intense trauma, he may have lost a lot of memories. His soft tones also remind of how I feel when my pain from trauma spikes up, moving to a more defeated and tired tone because my head hurts so bad.

Logan, I want you to know how very touching it was, near the end, when you looked directly into the camera and addressed Jeff personally, and told him him that he isn't crazy, and validated his feelings and perspective. It is so incredibly important to support and validate victims of trauma, and to support and validate how damaging and retraumatizing it is to have the perpetrators of our victimization not only not take accountability for what they've done, but to then, also attempt to manipulate us and those around us, to redirect the narrative in their favor, and to put us in a position to question our own reality all for their own benefit.

Considering the fact that he was heavily gaslight by the people he considers close enough to be like a family. Where his trauma was trivilised and swept under the rug, I think his lack of confidence does make a lot of sense. As someone who has recently gotten better at trusting my memories and evidence better maintaining that confidence throughout a conversation is almost impossible. It took me a year of consistent, proper therapy to get where I am today. Jeff only started going to therapy recently and the doctor films the sessions and also asked Jeff to promote his book so I don't know about how efficient that is. Also since he decided that he was going to sue David I think he might have edited certain parts out for the trial.

I think David is so emotionally stunted. He's been on social media since he was a kid. It's been nothing but content content content for years and he's not formed any true relationships with anyone. Everyone is replaceable. As soon as tbe monkey stops dancing he pushes them out and moves in the next one. The only person that's been there since the beginning is Natalie and if you ask me she is a surrogate mom to David. She takes care of everything for him. David is a grown child on top of being a narcissist. He's probably even a sociopath. He's got zero ability to feel emotion. The only emotion he shows is a manipulation tactic. And he's 100% manipulative. He could easily be a Jeffrey Dahmer.

I work on the TBI Waiver. Obviously standing for traumatic brain injury. I don’t know if Jeff was diagnosed with one but I can’t imagine he didn’t even if it is minor. TBI ranges broadly from person to person based on personality and what part of the brain was injured and how it was sustained. (Stroke, blunt force trauma, seizure). Jeff presents very well for a recent injury occurrence. So if he did sustain one it may have been minor. With being said, Some of the tangents he may go on can be linked to that and it’s very common. And even possibly some other “off” behaviors. It makes the nuance to reading Jeff so much more intricate but I will say it is MUCH harder to lie convincingly with a TBI. That being said I am more inclined to believe. Dobrik even without head trauma couldn’t pull off a sincere recalling of events.

Jeff had major brain trauma. His doctor rated his brain as a 4/10 in his docuseries. He hides his struggles with video editing so you can’t really tell how affected he was cognitively. However in other people’s podcast where there’s a lot less video editing you can see that his was in fact impaired by his accident.

If you look back at videos of other members of his vlog squad you see how they say things about david. About David manipulating things, how he does pranks on them to purposely scare them so He can get good content. But. The saddest thing is, so many in the vlog squad acted like david was the one who gave them their careers. Zane and Heath were Vine stars before meeting david, Scotty and Todd too. @@samanthacarrier8955 Good to know! That would make sense. I'm sure especially having grown up in a religious household, and especially before something as major as neurosurgery, I'd be praying too. And I've considered myself an atheist for almost two decades. My heart really breaks for Jeff too. I had never heard of him (or anyone else in the vlog squad except Trisha) until the crane accident. Having dated a guy with a TBI (who was actually treated at the same hospital as Jeff after his accident) I know how difficult accute traumatic brain injuries can be to deal with. And it had been almost 10 years since my partner's car accident when we first began dating. The best thing he ever did in our relationship was to be up front about what lasting effects his head injury had BEFORE we ever began dating. His most significant impairments were in his "cognitive empathy and short-term memory" If I didn't text him something he'd completly forget it happened. Unless he put it in his calendar immediately, I should expect that he would forget whatever I told him. When playing 'the newlywed game' he couldn't remember anything about our first kiss-- which actually worked out perfectly because it was equally unmemorable for me. 😆 However to be going through all of the physical recovery, in addition to trying to come to terms with the emotional injuries that comes when you realize that someone who you've considered a mentor and friend, someone you've been loyal to, literally fits the criteria of psychopathy. I truly can't imagine how difficult this whole process has been for him. Especially with social media. 😔

I knew you were going to side more with Jeff being authentic than David. He's a straight shooter. He says what he thinks and feels in general. As for Jason, he and Jeff are really good friends but just like with everyone else in David's cult, he feels like he owes David for everything he has now and doesn't want to lose that. It's a super tough position for Jason to be in but I guarantee if it weren't for how good of friends Jeff and Jason are David would have never done this. Also, the other reason David did this was to try and get out in front of the documentary that was just released about him to try and push a narrative other than the one everyone was going to be seeing and are now hearing about from Jeff. The same doc that tipped Jeff over the edge with all of this when he saw the clip of David basically saying this was all Jeff's fault.

I'm happy that he is sticking up for himself finally, because he has every right to be angry and call David out on his lack of accountability.

Even at 38 I remember that Don Corleone look from him when I was 16. And then right before the verbal assault he would lean forward, and get quiet and squint, then lay in verbally. The hand movements are gesticulation that’s endemic to Italian and Italian diaspora around the world. They speak with their hands. It’s not a stereotype, it’s a sign language that goes with the words. Italian American descendants don’t know the real hand motions used in Italy, but they adopted generationally the use of hands with speaking. It really is beautiful, unless you’re 16 and came home drunk haha. Then it is terrifying.
