We react to a classic Stevie Wonder song covered by the legendary Jeff Beck. Keep an eye out for the bassist, Tal Wilkenfeld. She is ridiculous!

His final song at this venue, which he played 5 nights there, is Where Were You. A tune he created, that his peers said was an impossible tune to play..... except for him. Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Jon Bonjovi, Brian May where there amongst other notable musicians to see up close his finger style playing. Eric Clapton played 2 songs with Jeff. Eric commented how touched he was that Jeff wanted him to play with him during an interview in Jeffs BBC special ,,,"Still on the Run". This is a Must See guys. A guitarist guitarist. Thank you for this great video. Jeff Beck stopped using picks during the There And Back Tour in 1981 : he lost his pick on stage while he was playing and continued without it. The Blow By Blow original version was played on a telecaster with hambucking pickups but no whammy bar (even if the picture on the cover is a Les Paul), which is very different from this one on a SSS strat... Anyway the wizardry remains the same, as usual with Jeff.

Great reaction to some really outstanding music. Beck is playing better than ever. What a rhythm section.

Wow! "He could have went further if he hadn't run out of frets" and that gal is amazing on that bass. 🔥🔥

Great live version of a classic Stevie Wonder composition originally given to J. Beck as a Mea Culpa for releasing "Superstition" before Beck Bogert Appice's original recorded version could be released! Tight musicianship all around, but Tal B. really stands out for sure. And while I agree that Beck is a bright leading beacon amongst his original contemporaries and peers, his only slight deficit might be the fact that he has largely been dependent on other writers for the majority of his material. Although he has always made great selections in this regard, especially his work with Jan Hammer and Tony Hymas. Oh, and "Thelonius" was the other track gifted from Stevie W.. Btw, excellent pick and analysis as always, fellas!!

Thank you sir, now that is a proper KZfaq comment. Yeah I know about the Thelonious track title, but didn't think others would get it... but then there's you! 🤘

Always a pleasure, and yeah, pretty hard to pull the musical wool over my otherwise dim vision eyes. Perhaps I should try dropping the dollar store headphones for a while and go searching for a more meaningful life? Nah, what the funk would be the point of that kind of misery?!?

Thank you. I listen to Jeff every day since 1980 and he is my favorite musician (with Jaco Pastorius) : there is not a single word to change in what you said, even about his "slight deficit" ;-) The song was written for Syreeta Wright (Wonder's former wife) but the vocal version is miles away from what Jeff did in 1975. Just a detail : Superstition was composed by Stevie Wonder but the original riff comes from Jeff, who played it before (on drums !) during a session with him. Stevie Wonder didn't want to put the song on his album but Motown insisted to do it. Stevie is a respectful mate so he did what you told.
