One of Bridges’ biggest films to date - at least production and budget wise - was 2008’s “Iron Man” opposite Robert Downey Jr.
SEE MORE: Awards: The Contenders
The actor recalls filming the blockbuster in conversation with fellow thesp Matthew McConaughey for the fifth season of Variety and PBS’ series “Actors on Actors.”
Constant script changes were a challenge for Bridges, who likes knowing his lines backwards and forwards when arriving on set.
“It turned out that many times - 10, 12, 15 times - we would show up for the days work, not knowing what we were gonna shoot,” Bridges said. “All the guys in the studio are sitting there tapping their foot, looking at their watch, and we’re sitting in my trailer trying to figure out my lines.”
Of course, in the end, it all worked out. The movie ended up serving as the kick-off for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The interview will air in its entirety on Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” Season 5, presented by The Venetian Las Vegas, which debuts on PBS SoCal on Jan. 3.

He managed to channel his frustration into the character. Jeff was frustrated at this new way of filmmaking. Obadiah was frustrated at Tony’s new way of doing business. I’m not even certain it was intentional on Favereaus part, but it definitely works

I can understand Bridge's frustrations, but equally I understand Marvel Studios not wanting to fuck this up, because it was their shot, and if they missed there is no way they continue making films. Favreau did a fabulous job with Iron Man and starting out the MCU we know and love. For me, the biggest element that has made MCU more successful than DC's films is that they've never taken themselves too seriously, they've always added in a comedic element to tone things down. Nolan and Snyder are DC's lone directors who can properly execute the "dark and gritty" DC film, and other directors that have come in and tried to make it funny, just make it more cringe worthy than anything. Sad, because there was so much potential for the DC film saga, and I feel its being squandered.
