People used to record bootlegs all the time with crappy Sony (or other brand) recorders. A lot exist of different artists from the 70s probably to the early 2000s. People would then sell the tapes, or even put them on CD later, and sell them. If you have them on CD you can upload them here. That's how it happens. You can find all four songs Jeff played for his Dad at the St. Anne's memorial because someone recorded that. I Never Asked to Be Your Mountain and Once I Was are the best two from that.

+Mirtza Griffin It is definitely Jeff Buckley singing the song with his leggiero tenor voice. He is singing it at the same pitch as Mark Gardener who is a low tenor with a weird voice. A lot of Jeff Buckley's later stuff like "Morning Theft," "Opened Once," and "I Know We Could Be So Happy Baby" had him kind of confine his range to the upper fourth octave and not do the wailing fifth octave belts he did on Grace which showed him maturing more as a singer-songwriter and are arguably some of his best and most underrated songs.

If that's not Jeff Buckley singing, it's a very close imitation. Could be Buckley singing but some one else playing guitar.

I think it's Jeff singing but someone else playing, which wasn't uncommon at Sin-E for acts to jam with one another.

It's Definitely Jeff, Ride are from Oxford, my Friend Simon worked for Sony and was a photography assistant, he knew Jeff's management and chatted to Jeff on a shoot, Jeff was always interested in people's stories, when he found out Simon was from Oxford he then explained how much he loved the English music scene and how he had so liked Ride, my friend told me this in the mid 90s so I'd say it's no surprise Jeff covered them, the first album of theirs is amazing, Buckley hardly ever played the same song the same way and often never again, I've got 100s of live recordings, that's what made him so amazing and different.
