I understand why he doesn't expect it bc it isn't the form he is use to and isn't the one he watched grow but its a miracle she survived, I would rather her be in a different form then dead. Also this kinda comes in handy and perfect timing bc they are looking for lightning as a suspect. Jen looks nothing like that lightning from before. Also I love how they found an actor who looks like Jen from the comments

Look, sis, I get what you're saying about how it's how you are inside that's important, but you didn't answer Jen's very practical question. If people know you by your appearance and your appearance permanently changes in a dramatic way (as in a new person), your life is effectively over. You can't explain that.

He lost his closest friend who is like a brother, and his daughter could've died just to turn into someone he doesn't know, which at now know wasn't his actual daughter. Yeah...he has every right to be bugging.
