How often do you recommend re building the top end, not racing just trail riding?

Jeff, I see lots of comments about changing the power valve spring and backing out the screw from the factory setting. Did you adjust that at all?

Jeff, is the Midwest clutch lever any good? as must have for knarly trail riding or just some useless bling? (I see you are using a rekluse is that an auto clutch? , I've seen mixed reviews on the lever where guys cannot get the thing adjusted correctly even after following the directions... I understand it doubles the throw for engagement do you find that to be an issue? any input is appreciated :)

Have you noticed oil leaking from (what appears to be from) around the power valve adjuster bolt in the front of the motor, next to the head pipe? Sounds like its new to 2020 but my 300 tpi started leaking after the first ride. Dealer thinks its the gasket but I'm convinced its the threads on the adjuster bolt. Nice build btw. Wish I had money for a suspension revalve.

Mine has a tiny leak. Not stopping me from riding. This bike is a beast!

It's the plastic D gasket. Some grey RTV will fix it. Mine leaked real bad.

It’s the insulator between the case and power valves. Super common issue

What have you gained with the fmf pipe? When you start to talk about the pipe, you never quite finish. You end up talking about the ECU and how the poweband is flat. What did you gain with the Fatty? And does it affect the mapping at all?

James Webster Sorry if I got off track. On the 2020, the Fatty improves the mid-range and top-end performance. Maybe a small improvement to the low-end.

The bar is still in development and they asked me not to show them until they are ready for sale, which will be at least several months. I get the same request from several companies for which I test products. If I break the rules, I won't get to do testing.

No. It's not designed for injection. I use the Amsoil Interceptor.

I used to prefer the XC (for suspension), but with the new National Shock and Lucky Inserts, I like the XCW.

@@slaverace1 I keep a 2000 KTM 250 EXC 2 stroke with my family in the NorthWest. I originally rode it just outside of Denver when I lived there and when I moved, I shipped the bike and rebuilt it with a Rekluse, Lectron, bottom end and top. Runs pretty amazing and never fails. I now have a 1998 KTM 380 2 stroke in the back of my car in pieces....all there, would be the perfect project bike if you wanted to have a crazy fun project. It would be nice to get that built with your top end, forks, set it for the same weight and riding style (I am 215 pounds no gear), I like the no nonsense builds you have going on. I am not all old school though....I have a 2019 ALTA MXR which I LOVE. If you have not ridden one, its like meeting the three musketeers and they pull out their fancy rapier's (Swords) (which would be my three best riding buddies on their bling bikes) and I pull out a light-saber....same tool / different levels. I am also now in the market for a TPI 300 in preparation for the ever popular Ouray/Telluride/Moab ride.... But back to my point, if you ever wanted to see what an older 98 380 2 stroke can turn into.....I would be willing to have a preliminary discussion with you about fiscal responsibilities and time lines. It almost seems comical to bring it up, but if it tickles your fancy for a winter project. I would be game.

Just curious, but why is the ktm so much better than the husky? I see a lot of videos calling the ktm the best off-road bike, period.

Good question! I don't consider the KTM "so much better". The comparable Husky, the TE, has the same engine, forks, etc. but has linkage instead the the XCW PDS rear suspension. In stock form the XCW and TE suspension are comparable but the TE handles big hits better. I use the Slavens Mule National Shock which makes the rear suspension far superior to either bike with stock suspension. You can't go wrong with the KTM, Husky or GasGas. All are very good bikes.

Very cool, but for 90% of riders your stock bike, (with a fan, cuz these tpi's run hot) is just fine. Just get out and ride, it's 80% rider, 20% bike. If you have the $, farkle it to your heart's content, but it's not going to make you a better rider. Jeff does use products that improve performance, but not everyone can drop thousands on suspension, and it's not a necessity. Very cool build though.

I agree. Most riders aren't at a level that utilizes the full potential of a bike. I know riders that are quite conservative on the throttle and will buy a top of the line expansion chamber and exhaust. Blows my mind.

K T my 2020 TE150i runs great right out of the box...doesn't run lean. There's no over heating either. The 150 has the same rads as the 250 and 300. I've posted videos if anyone is curious about seeing real examples.

I didn't do the graphics. Those were done by Titanium Todd that works here. Sprockets? We all have our limits.
