I have a suction cup windshield mount with a boom. If you moisten the suction cup before attaching, it stays attached. On yours, just slide the phone down in the clamp until it clears the mirror. Most map/gps apps work best in the vertical mode. Personally, if something were to detach, I would rather it be a suction cup mount than my rear view mirror. Gluing the mirror back on requires a special adhesive kit, a razor blade and a tool that you most likely don’t carry around with you.

I think it is great, no mess on the windshield as suction cups leave nor has heat falling off after the suction cup gives way. I like it too ! Better than magnets that attach to the vent fins, because that heavy magnet plus the phone is too much for those plastic fins that end up distorting ... an expensive part to have to replace later on in the car Interior Perhaps the solution to any vibration as you mentioned would be a gadget like this one that may include and additional arm with a rubber boot at the end so that it could rest on the windshield and reduce any excess weight on the mirror alone. Very good item, I bought exactly that one at Ross for $5.99 but the brand is LAC REARVIEW CAR MOUNT ... but it is exactly same

Excellent review! My car also has a thicker rearview mirror as it has the electronics for auto-dimming. I am glad to see that this device fits the thicker rearview mirror that you have on your car.

The only negative about this is, it blocks the center view of the windshield. But I use it, and I love it because it does not keep falling like the other phone mounts.

I had a similar design to this but this has more adjustment. I broke mine about two weeks ago so I was going to order another one. I like this design so I’ll probably order this. It worked pretty good I didn’t really get any vibration with mine but I have an iPhone that’s pretty light… Thanks Jeff

This is a handy little phone holder, especially for those that are on the road a lot...if you end up getting one I'd be interested to hear how the iPhone does.

It's hard for me to tell, but will it open wide enough for an otterbox case to fit into it? It wouldn't be practical to take it out for a ride and put it back in.Plus, the weight of the box is probably not a good idea to use this. right? Super idea and Great review. Love it, purchased one from Wal-Mart that worked fantastic in my 04 Town & Country. Upgraded to a 17 Grand Caravan with day/night dimming, won't fit the new vehicle......back to square one!

Eh … it’ll break! If it’s plastic it will break .. I’ve used 20 different types and the all break .. mostly , the failure is at the pivot ball connector . When you move your phone to landscape angle back and forth you gotta tighten the screw to stiffen the hold and every damn time I swear after a few uses it always breaks 100 % of the time so mark my words.. won’t last long .. plastics are cheap ..

The part that attaches to the mirror is a good design. The part that holds the phone is not. Attaching the phone is cumbersome and you put a lot of pressure on the mirror when you pull the spring loaded part that holds the phone.

I used my phone on cd disc holder that prefect as mirror holder make hard to see all window view when driving.. it wee risk like small blind when people cross road etc

I'm only worry about the weight. Maybe the rear mirror can't handle the weight of the mount and the phone and can fall off. What do you think???

It's always a possibility. Most mirrors are held on by a single screw. I know it hasn't had an impact on my mirror.

Good question, my mirror is pretty tight it didn't flex at all. Most mirrors you can tighten. For those that you can't you may end up having a problem.

So far works great, just a little shakey, but does what it needs to do. Really sturdy, easy placement, very happy with the overall results!

Two things come to mind about this product. First is a va state law against things hanging on a vehicle mirror. Would give police a reason to stop you. Next is blocking view. Also weight on mirror base that would make the mirror drop off the window.

I've had vehicles over the years that had the mirror base attached to the glass with some type of adhesive. Sometimes you get lucky and whatever adhesive they used lasts, but I've had vehicles where the mirror never would stay on for longer than a couple of months, probably because of the expansion and contraction from the heat of our 9+ month long summers. As such, I much prefer vehicles where the mirror is mounted to the frame of the vehicle instead of the glass and will avoid buying a vehicle that mounts it to the glass. Here in Texas, we're not required to have a rear view mirror, but if you don't, I think you have to have left and right side view mirrors. We are also not required to have a windshield, but we ARE required to have windshield wipers even if we don't have a windshield. Yeah, that's a strange one... Someone was obviously sleeping when they allowed that rule to slip through... :)

I bought one of these on Temu, and it is absolute garbage! That swings around back-and-forth, like a stripper on a pole! 😂😂 but seriously, though these things are just horrific. The phone never stays in one place and they just keep swinging the phone back-and-forth so you don’t really have a stable or steady phone. There Hass to be a way to keep it in place so that it’s not swinging around so much. Please advise.

Does not fit on 15 chargers, Challengers or RAMs the clamps don't expand wide enough, top clamps not deep enough

This is a great idea, but be sure it's legal in your state to have things hanging down from the mirror. At least in Nebraska, It's actually illegal to have anything around your mirror; state patrol uses it as an excuse to stop cars they expect to be carrying drugs. You might be OK if you're well-dressed, white, have a local license plate, and stay off the highways, but if you ever use a rental car ever or don't look WASPy, you may be saying yourself up for a bad time...

But is it legal to mount gadgets on your rear view mirror in this way? I don’t think it is in all states. At least not in California. You don't want a cop pulling you over and giving you a lecture or worse, a ticket.

Why do you say that? It's not like the car drivers having been changing lanes into / through a motorcyclist since way before cell phones were even invented... I learned a LONG time ago to avoid riding anywhere near blue-haired old ladies driving Buicks... They had tunnel vision and the only part of the road that they saw was the part between the top edge of the steering wheel and the top of the dashboard.
