Exactly. The prices are out of control. There is nothing to these carbon shafts. (I'm sure they have to throw out a few blanks here and there that don't meet tolerances. But nothing close to all the maple shafts that get tossed (plus the manufacturing time takes months. I'm sure the carbon blanks are all manufactured by China slave labor. Or hell maybe even China farms it out to tiawan or something. $35-50 for a good cueball. Custom cue $1500-3k for a plain classic 4 point depending on maker. Break cue 500$ . piece of chalk 20 bucks. Case 300$. good 9ft pool table 6-10k. (Crazy to think people pay pool table prices for just a cue from someone like southwest. Ive hit them and honestly...they are Not even that great imo).

Carbon fiber shafts are way more reliable and consistent compared to a wooden shaft. That's a fact.

@@CueListings and cheaper way cheaper to produce. It be like finding steal socket sets where better after gold ones where the standard and then making the steal sets cost 2 times more.

The world is supply vs demand. If they have demand at a high price, then they are going to price it high. Their is no such thing as FAIR in this world.

Yes. Unfortunately it’s in woods nature to react to the environment(s) it’s brought into. Humidity. Hot. Cold. It will change over time. You might change with it, but a carbon fiber shaft will shoot the same on day 1 and 1000.

@@CueListings room conditions or table conditions effect play way more than the material your shaft is made from. Never seen a guy loose a match cuz he was using a wood shaft have you? Lmao. People crazy. Ps I've got to try that bridge technique

@@alphacapo I respectfully disagree. It starts with the cue, and from there you adjust to the room and table conditions.

@@alphacapo I agree with you on a subjective basis and agree with Cue listings objectively, but I think the devil is in the degree of change. The other day I saw an APA handicap 2 switch cues because he said the one he was using had too much deflection. LOL. Deflection is completely irrelevant at his level of play. Having said that, the difference carbon fiber makes is irrelevant unless you play at a level that exceeds efren 15 years ago. Translation, its irrelevant for basically everyone.

Sounded like Japan but no way #1 player from Japan would get that big of a handicap. And did he really say he's giving 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 ball in a betting match with this #1 player from Thailand or Japan?

I’ve only shot like 50 shots with a Fury. I guess it’s “OK”, but there are alternatives. I don’t mean to sound negative, but..there are (good) alternatives. Having said that, if YOU like it..it’s all that matters.

In your personal opinion, 300USD jflowers with cf shaft, or similar priced maple fury cue?

Basically same thing as Lucasi these days. They're production Chinese cues and they're not horrible, but not amazing. I'd personally not really recommend them.

Wisconsin cue maker. There are an unusual number of great cue makers in Wisconsin.

I've been using the rogue for about a year and really like it. It has a softer hit than most CF shafts that I have tried.

@@markinjhawkland724 i have always played with a mcdermott gcore 13mm. I thought that i should order the rogue 12.9, so im staying the same size im used to, but im leaning towards the 12.4. Pechauer said that is the most popular size, it is what fisher uses, and it is only 0.6 of a millimeter difference from my gcore.. Not exactly a drastic change. I ordered a custom pechauer butt 3 weeks ago. Still waiting for it, then ill order the shaft. Fyi i played allison a few months ago, and took a few vids of her on my yt channel

@@CueListings As does carbon fiber. Epoxy resin changes and the carbon fiber weakens due to flexing. There are numerous discussions on this topic in the field of archery. Eventually the carbon fiber arrows splinter and many people have had the shaft penetrate their forearms when the arrows fail. How long does a carbon fiber cue shaft last after repeated hits? No one knows, but it does change and they will fail. When the snooker champions switch to something other than wood, so will I......

@@briangc1972 Snooker also has smaller balls though. Really champion snooker players and champion pool players are both top level cueists... I don't think one is necessarily better than the other - wood vs. carbon.. and I personally can't tell a huge difference when playing.. but it does make sense that carbon is a bit more stable -- especially when you always leave your cues in the car, like me.

Shaw does not have the option of playing with a carbon fiber shaft. His sponsor don’t make one. Jeff was not speaking about his sponsor, but carbon fiber shafts in general..

If we could show, how a world level pro...let's take my favorite for example, "The South Dakota Kid", he might derive more comfort of some sort playing with the carbon, but his performance is statistically the same. And I'm sure Shaw could request of his "sponsor" to develop/manufacture a carbon if he really believed based on empirical analysis that the material would be more efficacious for his game; & listen, the one time US Open Champ needs all the help he can get, he's been getting knocked out of tournaments left, right & all around. But I'll leave that argument alone. The more curious case, is the sensational preternatural Joshua Filler, he actually played with a carbon, but went back to wood. What gives? My friend, if you are actually doing objective observations, and not just trying to argue/defend your subjective narratives, why not ask Filler's highly qualified opinion? I mean, because after all, you're just trying to provide quality content that seeks truth, right? 🙂

I switch between carbon fiber and wood a decent amount and ill say this, at the same basic weight of cue, the carbon fiber feels heavier, way more solid, spinning shots is 2x easier, i can get some absurd force follow and draw with them. If you're a power stroke player it's not hardly a debate which one to pick.

@@scottbranson7872 Do you mean that I should stick to a wooden shaft, becase the carbon shaft will tranfer much more (too much) energy to the cue ball, when using my usual power strokes?

@@bjarkenielsen8515 Heck no, go carbon fiber, your power will increase dramatically. What used to be medium hard difficulty shots starts drifting towards the easier side. Those two rails draws that have to get to the other short rail, can just punch them right in. Around the horn follow shots, it's so much easier to get the spin right, it's not deviating all over the place.

@@Stellarffxi well big part of the game is determine by the pressure of the match and how players handle their nerves,muscle twitch and concentration.Of course using a bridge is an advantage as it replace the hand that would hold the cue making it more stable and no more middle finger twitch while stroking... who thinks its an handicap hahaha

I prefer the contrast of the light colored shaft over the dark on most color felts that I've played on... so I prefer some things about wood as well.. but I play with a carbon shaft solely because it won't get dents and dings from me wackin it on lights, tables, etc....
