Blocking the two-state solution is actually blocking peace and the real solution of Palestine-Israel conflict. No country has a veto against world opinion. In this area, the US will be diplomatically isolated, and it deserves to be.

I think Israel and the U.S. still hope for a final solution that sees the Palestinians non-existent in land of Palestine.

That is what fascist supremacist states do! There can never be a 2 state solution in Palstine. Isfake was created out of thin air by British Z1onists in 1948. It should not have existed and must be rejected, besides in all those years, they have been committing ge no side, it is not a peaceful state...it is a terror state far worst than any communist state even N.Korea has better reputation than isfake.

But a two state solution can ONLY happen if the illegal settlers in the West Bank are ejected. It is very difficult to see this happening given the blind support of the US, and the blinkered disinterest of neighbouring Arab states.

That is exactly why the settlements were placed there. Calculated roadblocks on any route to peace.

@@Onequietvoice Agreed. Which means one people or the other has to be ejected. Horrific situation created by Bibi & co. There is no good outcome unless the US forces Israel to abide by the UN resolutions.

@@AnBreadanFeasa Well, the situation was created before Bibi and protected by the US at the UN. It is naive to still assume that the US position is in any way differenr from Israel's. Different rhetoric for a different audience is all.

@@Onequietvoice I do not disagree. There is a difference between what might work - which is enforcement of UN resolutions with the strong support of the US - and what is more probable - which is the status quo of more and more illegal settlements effectively under the shield of US protection. I'm aware that illegal settlements preceded Bibi & Co, but he's been in power for 17 of the past 28 years. His overt strategy of doing everything to prevent a 2SS, including funding Hamas, has generated the horror of the past 9 months, and the probability of regional or even wider war.
