Reminds me of an uncle and aunt I had. You couldn't even laugh around him, he was so grumpy! My aunt was meek, and she would talk to us kids and make us cinnamon toast.Total opposites .

Her Sister-in-Law was a Gem! Real family love here. They grew on each other. What a wonderful Story. Ida Lupino was so Talented in so many ways and a woman before her time paving the way for all women in the industry of filmmaking, Producing, Directing, and Business. Not only that, a true beauty. Thank you for sharing

Jeanette Nolan was a fine actress as well. She played Lady Macbeth in the Orson Welles' movie. That is range.

That was wonderful!!! Such a simple story but so meaningful with the cast personalities playing against each other, then with each other. Wish they'd write scripts like this again. I immediately spotted Ray Stricklyn. His career sure took some turns but he ended up successful.

Wow. More powerful in a half hour show then in a dozen hours of writing today.

There is nothing like these old B&W movies from the 30s - 60s. My grandma raised me on them . They have so much substance and were clean and always something new and touching. I wish I had lived back then. What a wonderful time in spite of the troubles. People were kind and helped their neighbors and friends and family. It carried on into the 70s and 80s. To a little lesser degree. But how wonderful life was back then. I miss watching these with my grandma.

I agree. I was one year old when this came out. I wouldn't be young for anything today. I raised my now adult child on Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, and such. I grew up in the best of times.

I love these teledramas, but omg-these commercials. Ugh. It's super ironic that they are so condescending about women while featuring two of cinema's most talented, prolific, and multi-faceted actresses-Lupino, who was also a writer, producer, and director, and Nolan, who worked with such notaries as Orson Welles and Fritz Lang.

Interesting commercial about women and art. It was as they said, sewing was the only artistic outlet for married women in those days. I'm glad times have changed!

No, of course it was not. 😆 Were women banned from gardening, knitting, crocheting, macrame, needlepoint, painting, drawing, writing, pottery, redoing furniture, making a myriad of things, playing an instrument, singing, dancing, ect.?? 😆😂
