My Premium Resume Package: jeffsu.gumroad.com/l/premium-...
🙋🏻 My top 5 go-to questions to ask the interviewers are as follows:
1️⃣ I see you’re been at [ROLE] for the past [NUMBER OF] years, has your experience been what you expected?
2️⃣ If you think back to a recent hire that impressed you, what characteristics did they have?
3️⃣ What teams will I be working most closely with?
4️⃣ How will my success be measured?
5️⃣ Do you have any hesitations about hiring me?
Did you know experienced interviewers usually leave 5-10 minutes at the end of the interview for you to ask questions ON PURPOSE?
In short, questions you ask the interviewer convey your (1) Enthusiasm for the role, (2) Critical thinking skills, and (3) Level of preparation. Not to mention it helps YOU screen your future employer!
In order to impress the interviewer(s), the answers to your questions can’t be easily found online and should be specific to the interviewer themselves. Furthermore, you also want to avoid coming off as robotic or overly-rehearsed since the interviewer might think you just memorized a bunch of questions and are asking for the sake of asking questions.

Love these questions Jeff. I also like to ask this golden question: fast forward 12 months ahead, what will I have achieved and where will I have added value the most? With this question they will cut through the job spec and tell you what the job is all about PLUS if you get the job you know your immediate 12 months objectives that you can discuss in more detail with your manager.

Hey Jeff, I wanted to drop a quick comment to say thank you; your content was extremely helpful in landing me a job this past week. I felt far more prepared than I would have otherwise been. You're doing a lovely thing with this channel, and I really appreciate it. By way of a short amount of feedback, I did use the final question "do you have any hesitations about hiring me" and it was the only thing that fell flat. The two fellows interviewing me just kinda blinked, and eventually one of them said, "well, we haven't had a chance to discuss with each other yet..." and that sorta made me feel a little like I'd pushed too hard. If I had it to do again, I'd skip that one, or at least find a way to rephrase it. Otherwise, smiles all around, and much gratitude to you for your time and skill sharing. Go you! :)

Wow thank you so much for the kind words and I *absolutely* love the feedback as well. It's a great point (interviewers not having time to think through your performance) so it's something I'll bear in mind for future videos. Best of luck in your new job!!

Jeff, I watched your videos for boosting your LinkedIn profile, crafting a solid resume, writing a captivating cover letter, and developing interview responses to help me pursue a position with an employer I really wanted to work with. When we got to the end of the interview I used a few of your suggested questions here, ending with “Do you have any reservations about hiring me?” They were so impressed with my information and interview they answered, “No, in fact we’d be willing to extend a verbal offer right now, with a formal offer to follow within the next week.” Thank you so much for the high quality resources you’re producing! You’re helping a lot of people, me included!

I used these questions during two interviews last October. While the last question "do you have any hesitations about hiring me?" was particularly nerve-wracking to answer, I believe it helped me to leave a good impression and end the interviews on a strong note. I credit this as being a major contributing factor in my being offered both positions within the month thereafter. Sufficed to say, this was a fantastic and helpful video. Strongly recommended!

@@JeffSu It went so well! It was the president of the company that was interviewing me which i was not expecting😭i was so nervous but i stuck to the game plan. the big hitters were the personal question about his career, the metrics i would be measured on, and the characteristics of an impressive new hire! I then met with one of the formulation chemists i’d be working under and they both said that i was a good guy and that they liked me! Now i just hope i get that follow up email💀

I agree with everything except the last one. When you ask for weaknesses they may see in your profile, it brings to attention what they are and reminds the interviewer of why they may "NOT" hire you. This is a subconscious involuntary reaction and will resonate much greater in their decision making processes than it should. In addition, they already know what you may lack. No need to remind them by asking them to reiterate it during the interview. However, it is a good idea to ask them AFTER if you have been rejected to give you an idea of what you need to work on prior to the next interview with a different organization that are looking to fill a similar position requiring the same general skill set.

@@JeffSu 1. Recruiter loved it when I showed genuine interest to get to know their journey moving from one org to another within the company -> then I said how that resonated with me and why I'm applying to the role to make bigger impact. 2. When I asked them to think of a successful candidate, they actually shared what skillsets they are looking for to be a good fit for the role -> definitely a bonus if I can make it to the next round; if not (hopefully that does not happen lol), I can still grow from there. 3. I did not ask "any hesitation to move forward", instead, I asked how the entire process would be and they shared very detailed timeline. :D I will ask the hiring manager this question if I make it to the next round. But seriously, your videos are 100 times better than ChatGPT or GPT4 :) thank you!!

The last two questions does sound scary for me, my go to is "what skills are you looking for that can help a recent hire transition in the role as smooth as possible with minimal training or guidance?" The answers always show me two things, do i have the relevant skill, if so did they remember that i have the skill or do i have to remind them of it or if I don't are they open to train? sometimes I know businesses are too busy training new hires and expect them to come in without any training at all, not really a company I can value or work with. I understand disrupting operations is detrimental but if they're not willing to invest in a new hire, then how are they treating their current hires?
