If I could add one thing it would be Zhongli for a comfort honourable mention, and Baizhu for top tier Furina synergy. There’s a ton of great team options for the last section that I missed because I was doing this on the fly. Let me know which are your favourites!

I would put Ayaka there since shes actually versatile: Combat-wise, still decent and good freeze, runs fast for exploration, and second best unlimited water-runner in game.

I agree 100% - I'd actually say Neuvillette is #1 for new players who want to be able to plow through all content straight away - overworld, bosses, domains - and have an insane DPS for future Spiral clear - particularly because he can heal himself and it's frustrating as a new player when every fight takes ages and you don't want to waste resources on characters and 3-4* artifacts before AR45. Neuvillette is a one man team that will plow through anything non hydro (but even then I use him on hydro bosses, it just takes longer) and even though he "needs" a shielder, you can avoid it by pulling him back and his skill cooldown is fast enough that if you missed your charge attack, you'll get another one soon. To be able to do that with 1 5* is far more valuable for any player, especially a new one. For me, (started 1 year ago), before Neuvillette, it wasn't until I had Zhongli I could easily plow through every weekly boss - before that I had to use so many diff team comps to compensate but I didn't want to have to build certain characters or spend 10 minutes for each boss - with Zhongli and Neuvillette I can use the exact same team for every weekly boss and plow through them so fast lol so that's something a new player might want to consider I'd say if you want to build two endgame teams at the same time, then Furina and Nahida because you can build one hyperbloom team and one Furina team and just as Nahida will compensate for not having the best options for the rest of the team, Furina will do that for the other team. And both of those units are so flexible (but new players will need to build healer for Furina and potentially a shielder since Nahida is easily knocked around) BUT Barbara is a new player's only option and is not a good enough healer for Furina teams so in that case, I actually think Xianyun is better to get before Nahida particularly because they synergize with each other so well, Xianyun even if not used for plunging has amazing healing and carries VV artifact, so with both of them you can make even a weaker DPS significantly stronger - Dendro is powerful enough that you can get away with dendro MC until next Nahida banner, but Xianyun is both a healer and anemo vv holder so it's like 2 characters in one (she's significantly boosted my Zhongli/Furina/Neuvillette team because she takes the role of Baizu heals and Kazuha VV and puts them into 1 - although I know Kazuha does more but I like having Zhongli for my slight controller lag) But there's only a couple days left for Nahida and Xianyun so it will be months before you can get them again, so I'd say in this case, Furina, Neuvillette and Kazuha are priority Also, It is NOT helpful to tell new players the game is easy so play who you like, because veterans have months worth of artifacts farmed - a selection of decent 4* weapons and multiple cons of good 4* units. It is also not helpful because as a new player with so many characters to choose from, you might like so many that you need another parameter in which to narrow the selection down. New players will level up FAST - I'm already AR45 on my new account and I've only played a month - so my world level jumped faster than I could build characters and its easier for me because I know what to expect, but for an actual new player, leveling faster than you can build characters means that you wan't strong characters now, not the unhelpful advice that any 4* can beat spiral (yeah with a high investment build that takes months/years for cons).

Fantastic way of looking at characters!! So important to be able to choose 2 favorites whatever the META and then the CHOOSE 2 section is fabulous as there are many strong characters to choose from and you want some flexibility to still choose the ones you prefer… I love the video, great food for thoughts and helps those who do need some guidance!! I cant argue with the choices jello in terms of progression i agree and yeah the teams you can make with the first 3 should make up the bread and butter of your account absolute fantastic content and extremely helpful to the genshin community not to mention i dont think people realise the amount of effort you put into editing we appreciate you and thats not counting your time aswell

An excellent video. While I have been 36 starring the abyss for a while now, it was interesting highlight of the characters I hadn't noticed I was consistently using each run. My dad found this particular video very enlightening as a relatively new player. Definitely a recommended video for new players.

Started 250 days ago, and i have yelan,kazuha,nahida,raiden,navia,alhaitam,furina,jean,kuki , and i 36 starred spiral abyss in 4.4 , your videos really helped me!!

I think its important to add that alot of META discussions will lead you to believe that certain characters are "powercrept" and you shouldn't really bother with them. I'm talking chars like Ayaka, Hu Tao, Raiden Shogun, Cyno, etc. For example, outside of stuff like Raiden as a hyperbloom trigger, she is definitely plenty strong to be used an on-field DPS. They may not be "the best" but they are perfectly viable. Hell, I've 36* the abyss with Diluc and Ayaka thanks to Xianyun and Furina empowering them, you don't *need* to use hyperbloom or Neuvilette if you don't like those playstyles.

Everyone is forgetting Zhongli. He doesnt help you much damage-wise, but he totally changes the game from easy to not-even-a-game-anymore difficulty.

I really enjoyed this video, but not just for the headline content. As someone who is about six months into Genshin, your discussion about how new players should have so many wishes during their first year of play really made me think about how important it is to actually do all the world quests and exploration to get those permanent primogems. I always thought about them as something I can get to "eventually" without realizing the cost of that way of thinking: you end up being forced to skip banners that you really shouldn't skip.

Getting new characters and testing them out is the reason I play the game, and the motto of this channel! 😆I have been playing since forever, so this isn't really for me, but it was a good watch and you make good content. For the most part the same small group of 5 stars are promoted by content creators time and time again understandably, because they are the best. Thankfully, 5 stars aren't as stationary as the top 4 stars most of whom have existed since launch.

I think you also want to make sure you have one more defensive option aside from Bennett+Xingqiu in case the Abyss is very aggressive on both sides like the rifthounds, Hydro Tulpa, or Fatui operatives. If you “chose two” with poor defense like Yelan, Hu Tao and the abyss was aggressive: Side 1 is fine with Bennet, Xingqiu, Yelan or Hu Tao However side 2 would be trouble, since you’d have Furina in healer mode or Prototype Amber. You could build Barbara or Noelle who are guaranteed, but they were not in that list.

Great video! In one year of playing seriously I was able to make a Nahida Hyperbloom, c2 Raiden overload, and neuvillette taser. None of the three teams share a character. It certainly feels like I never need to wish again, but I still want zhongli! I actually am debating whether or not to get furina because I feel like most of her teams are with characters I don’t care much for. And it doesn’t really feel like my account NEEDS her. Maybe I’ll change my mind at some point.

Having started in October and almost entirely f2p I feel I've had near-perfect wish investment! Furina was my first 5*, I built pity on Ayato's banner to get Kuki, then got Raiden and now Nahida. This allowed met o get 32/36 stars in the abyss so far All I'm waiting for is Kazuha and Yelan to rerun. Hope you do another banner prediction video, your last one was hilariously accurate.

I appreciated your previous video highlighting the differences between c0 and c6 4 stars and I basically have only low constellations so it'd help if when you mention them you could specify whether you're referring to c6 vs just having it (c0). Literally something I didn't realise for months (I have c0 Xingqiu and didn't understand why it was that great). (Speaking of.. I randomly ended up getting c2 Mona 😂 from the standard banner)

So glad I have kazuha, furina, and nahida now. Out of all the characters you mentioned that I do have on my account is c1 furina, kazuha, nahida, nuevilette, raiden, and hu tao. I plan on getting alhaitham so hopefully that goes well haha.

I started Genshin around 3.1 update. These were the characters I pulled in order and used to 36 star the abyss for the first time. Nahida, Keqing, Wanderer, Raiden, Xiao, Nilou, Kazuha, and Klee. Nilou bloom really carried my team. I also used Klee hyperburgeon, Klee mono pyro, and Raiden Aggravate. Nahida, Kazuha, and Raiden were the characters I used the most!

I agree with most of this list. I think kokomi deserves to be in choose 2. I picked her up on her first banner and never had any regret. Mine is now C2 with moonglow and I use her with nahida, raiden, and Xingqiu. Her driving capabilities are so good I think she deserves more credit. she's my tank, healer, and driver that got me to easily 36 star abyss.

My account went from getting Dehya as my only 5 star and c4 Dori my only constellation to having everyone above the choose 2, plus Raiden and Neuv. Almost totally f2p plus a few welkin and bp. Wishing luck to anyone reading this, don't give up just be strategic like he's saying and it'll all work out eventually!

I think the great thing about Navia is thet how cheap her teams are. You can just use Xiangling (free unit and shop), Bennet (shop) and GMC (only agains bosses) or Ninguang (shop and lantern rite) and you can just go to the Abyss. Even this is flexible because if you don't have C4 Xiangling you can use Fischl or even Xingqiu as well. In reality I think she is one of the most beginner friendly on-field damage dealer in the game, maybe even more then Neuvilette, though Neuvilette so good on the base line thet even with a joke team he will be extremly good. It would be interesting to talk about how it is different with other 5*. Like, we know as example thet Xiao and Cyno is very pricey charatcers, but I would like to see how different 5* different in this point.

Hey guys, I have a bit of a team building question: I have Raiden, Furina, Jean and Nahida build and want to get Yelan when she reruns since she would fit in Raiden Furina Jean Yelan or Nahida Kuki(if I get her) XQ Yelan I could also run EM Raiden on Nahida side and some other carry in the Jean Furina side (I have Yanfei build). With those teams in mind, I can probably skip Kazuha for now. Or would you still recommend him?

I got a traditional bennet hypercarry team, and now I’m working on a low investment hyperbloom team. But recently in this combat event, I was able to experience Nilou’s bountiful blooms team with Nahida, Furina, and Baizhu and it is so tempting. It’s more damage and fun than I expected but I would need to get Furina, Nilou, and Baizhu, that’s just too much and the banners may never come.

Nice the list is bang on. This is my plan aswell, get nahida furina kazuha as cores, xianyun is also a core but lower priority (I'd put her above neuvi). Then I can pull for whoever tf I want which is the most important thing. I also agree with the must builds, they offer a lot of additional flexibility.

I have nahida, Bennett, xingqiu, Xiangling, & chevruse, and I’ve only been playing the game 40 days. So I’m doing pretty well. I even have some of their constellations. The one character I REALLY want is Kuki, but damn being a standard banner 4 star just makes it to where I have no clue how long it will take me to get her 😭. Tighnari is the GOAT though lol

A thing thats worth to mention its how fast you can gear the top 3. Specially the archons. Their artifact sets domain are resin effient, they dont need too much substasts, Nahida can do fine with 3* EM stat sticks and Furina can get a weapon from fishing in Fontaine. Also thanks for making my choice to wait for Xianyun rerun even harder, I lost my 50/50 at 70 pity and now I am at 70 again, I want to make sure I can get Arlecchino so sadly I have to skip bird mama.

Healer meta with no Baizhu on the "Choose 2" category seems criminal to me. Specially, his element and being a catalyst user makes him even more an obvious pick.

just a single question which of the hydro characters has the best and constant hydro application? running in the moment a hyperbloom team with raiden, nahida, xingqiu and ayaka but xingqiu is a bit of problematic with hydro application so that question always comes to me....

Extremely concise and accurate list with very good advice. I would personally put Al Haitham below Hu Tao and maybe even Nilou, just because Dendro traveler is unironically pretty strong and a very good substitute for many teams and I would add Succrose in the "Probably build if you get them" section. I can't really say I agree or disagree with Chevreuse, because I don't have the character or actually looked at indepth math / footage of how good she is, from my initial thoughts and comparing of who you would play her over in teams that she would fit in and superficially comparing the numbers that she and the characters that she replaces would provide, I found that she wouldn't really be an upgrade in any team or case except for maybe fighting the Hydro Tulpa in abyss when you can't swirl pyro for vape, so I am not sure about her "worth in the meta" (before Arle and Clorinde). But except for that I 100% agree with this list as a day-one player. Can only recommend new players to follow this advice if they are looking for a future proof account that can clear 36* with ease.

I've been playing genshin on n off since release... I've been playing it a little more lately and have been trying to build on bunch of characters I've accumulated... I still haven't 36 starred the abyss. Do you do account reviews maybe point me in a general direction of who n what I need to be concentrating on build wise?!

Got to say this is a very good video for newer players. I have all of these recommended units except Neuvillette and Hu Tao, but I can attest to the incredible flexibility and strength of the others. If you’re going to go beyond F2P and want to vertically invest, my choice would be constellations for Nahida and Furina first, then signature weapons for your chosen DPSs. Great video 👍

My two 5-star mains are interestingly Yae Miko and Nahida. The third member of my main team is always Yanfei. The 4th slot on my team can be taken up by anyone with the 4th element that I need in the team. I also love using only Catalyst-users in my teams when I can as well because of all the elemental reactions!

I will go with a childe team, a hutao team and a arle team along with wrio,navia,xianyun that I already have.

Can I ask for a video on which quests should be given first priority or things to do for beginners( like getting Oculus and stuffs like quest that unlock tea pot,and resin condenser such things that give high value).

This video makes me realize I was spending my primos irresponsibly. My roster consists of mostly DPS snd Sub-DPS. So, I mostly rely on 4-stars as a support. (Tbf, they are enough because I main Wanderer and likes to play Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko.)

Started this game 3 weeks ago. Invested A LOT of time into it coz it is extremely fun. Dropped some $$ for the one-time deals. So far I’ve lost 4 out of 4 50/50: 2 on arlechino banner and 2 on weapon banner. I also have Qiqi c1. Feels great

I am kind of new to Genshin. My cousin given me his spare account of adventure rank 50 where world monsters at around LV83. I have just reached Sumeru region and all in and got C2 Xianyun with Gaming C6. Then realised I cannot ascend them because I havent reach certain region to collect the ascend items. I am not strong enough to progress the storyline to get to the next region and unable to ascend the characters I wanted. May I for any advise, many thanks in advance >^

For a relatively new account with just one limited 5 star (yelan), and factoring in dreams that show that kazuha is rerunning next patch, do you think I should pull for nahida this banner with around 60 pulls (can't guarantee her) even if the 4 stars on the banner are not great?

i just started on jan 20 2024, do i want kazuha instead of neuvillette(people say they are both re-running in 4.5 second half) I mean im using this team, Nahida, xinqiu, raiden, and fischl. I wouldn’t say that cloud retainer is that necessary bc u need c6 Bennett to do both of the teams u mentioned and u would need some type of infusion to use a dps with her

Your guide is right. I have only 2 of your must pull but can 36* constantly. The ones you not mentioned are extra support that helps a lot. These are top meta, high value tier characters. Since we have limited wish, its only natural to go for the best. Game8 website have a good tier list showing the best characters for each type dps, sub-dps, buffer/healer/shielder. I have been referring to the website since 2 years ago and I got half of the S tier characters. My most used characters are only 13 but some are high cons. Now 36* constantly and i dont need to wish anymore. 1. Raiden C3R1 2. Yelan C4R1 3. Nahida C2R1 4. Kazuha C0 5. Kokomi C0 6. Zhongli C0 7. Xingqiu C6 8. Xiangling C6 9. Bennet C5 10. Kuki C6 11. Beidou C6 12. Yaoyao C1 13. Dendro MC C4

I started pretty much 3 weeks ago judging by my welkin I bought immediately. I did a majority of the exploration in each zone up until now (just arrived in Sumeru) with mondstadt on 100% and I probably got really lucky with my initial pulls. I got Xianyun on my first hard pity and then just after 40 pulls I got Nahida, while accumulating both Gaming and Faruzan to C4. Obviously I got Xianqui from lantern rite and got Xianling built with a Skyward Spine that came from my first hard standard banner pity and got C0 Fischl and C0 Kuki from the last day and only 10 pull I did on Raiden Shogun banner. Since there is alot of powerful units coming up now, I am asking myself, if going for Kazuha is a good idea. I do not want to go for Neuvilette, since I don't like his design and playstyle (played him in that current challenge event as a random pick), but Kazuha I really like a lot from character design to story I experienced so far. Any input and recommendations? I don't plan on buying Genesis Crystals, but I will run welkin and BP.

This is a very helpful video. One of the best ones in my opinion. But I wouldn’t put Xianyun and Lyney in the Choose 2 category. Probably will remove Chevy too in the Probably Build section. They’re more niche than not. If I had Raiden & Chevreuse, you can’t tell me that Raiden is less useful and reliable than Chevreuse. There’s just no way. Even Zhongli or Baizhu are more valuable units than Chevreuse. I’d include instead somewhere in that list: Raiden, Ayaka, Zhongli, Kokomi, Baizhu. Versatility & flexibility are important for proofing one’s roster. A niche approach kinda counters what proofing one’s account intends to accomplish.

Yao yao should have been in the tier with Kuki & Chevy.
