Could you hear my cries of "Absolutely!" and "Yes!" as I watched this video up here in Minnesota? As a teacher most of my trips are during the summer (although some well planned personal days have offered some variety.) with my mom. We love a middle of the day break and love to wander the parks as late as they let us. It's so magical!!! I have started using an umbrella to keep the sun off me as well as the rain. Also-the water fountain right behind the castle on the left is always cold. I did learn something new with the body glide for blisters on your feet. I am totally trying that next time! Have a magical trip coming up!

It’s already miserably hot here in Florida, so WDW is a no-go for us in the summer months, but for those that have to go in summer your suggestions are spot-on. I know that people feel compelled to make the most of each day, but less is more. A few enjoyable park hours balanced with hotel pool and activities is the way to go. So many of the hotels have specialized activities for kids like crafting, face-painting, games, movie nights, etc.

Bravo, Jen! Well said! Some of my favorite trips to WDW have also been in the summer months. My most recent trips were this past September, and December of 2021, and again in March of this year. And, yes, there were days during each of those visits that were into the 80s and 90s. It is very tricky trying to pack for WDW in the so-called cooler months. March was really tricky. Most days were in the upper 70s to lower 80s. One day it was in the 90s. The real surprise was the day that the wind chill was in the 30s due to a winter storm that hit the east coast. Of course, we were totally unprepared for that. But, for sure, the summer months are the most brutal weather-wise. I will be there again this September. When I was working as a teacher, I had to take advantage of the summer vacation months. Now that I am one year into retirement, Yay!!, I can go when I choose to. The best thing about visiting in September is that the crowds are generally lower because schools are back in session and it is hurricane season. Loved this blog. Thanks for sharing!

Great video! We moved to the Tampa/St. Petersburg area almost 3 years ago from TN. My wardrobe has completely changed since moving here. Breathable fabrics and caps are a must for me especially May through October. I also love the shorts with built in undies. We enjoy lots of day trips and some long weekend resort stays in the cooler months. It is wonderful to wear cute cotton Disney tees and wear my hair down during those trips. Thanks for the tips and reminders as we prepare for our upcoming Epcot day for our AP Cosmic Rewind preview!

Agree 100%! We are going again end of August and while I’m dreading the heat (& rain!) there is so much we love, like our mid day breaks and long meals in air conditioned restaurants. We were just in WDW after Easter and actually got cool weather a couple of days. We were cold in the evenings, like close to December cold, but during the day it was mostly beautiful with high 70s and lower humidity (though windy). I feel like we got the last of nice weather before summer hits.

We always go in June and it’s pretty hot. We carry those small misting fans in our park bag to use when we’re standing in line. That helps a lot with cooling off. And we freeze our water in water bags the night before so they melt through the day. Going in the summer doesn’t bother me if I’m prepared.

So very very spot on! Such amazing advice ❤️ and actually we are a little more restricted as to when we can travel these days and so we are going to Florida in August next year and the heat was one of the factors that lead us to decide to make it a non theme park trip. We just want a more laid back time and will get our Disney kicks from Disney Springs and hopefully a two night Disney hotel stay - we have a villa booked for two weeks. Again we are looking at the more expensive hotels so that we can enjoy the resort in the AC as well as the pool etc😃 one day we will return to the parks - I would love to go around Halloween/Xmas but then the crowds present other challenges 😃 xx

California weather wimp here, and oh my goodness you're taking me back to my first (and so far only) trip to WDW back in June 2019. Nothing can prepare you for this kind of heat! I'll never forget opening the hotel door on the morning of day 1 and my sunglasses immediately fogged up due to the humidity. I was in disbelief. Also, I nearly passed out while eating corn dog nuggets on the outdoor patio of Casey's Corner. It was 101 degrees with a heat index of 113!!! It was at that moment we decided to leave the park and explore the monorail resorts (and AC!). Still no regrets, lots of magical moments during that trip, though next time I'd probably prefer January LOL

I’ve lived in FL (Tampa) for 6 years, and it’s been my experience staying at the resorts in the summer is to go to the pools in the morning, while everyone is rope dropping. You get several hours at the pool with low crowds, plus I started going to the parks on or around 2 PM, and most folks were tired from being in the parks all morning, so they are leaving and less crowds😀😀!! Too funny. Enjoy..

Hi Jen, thank you so much for your video! You’ve brought up so many great points. I have a few questions. How did you like the keratin treatment? Is it good for your hair? How often do you do it? The collapsible water bottle…does it sweat? Does it keep water cold? How long are your mid-day breaks? We usually leave at 1 and come back at 5. I wasn’t sure if that was too long. I’m weird and do my laundry then while my husband and kids enjoy a nap or go to the pool. I need to get a one bedroom villa so I can do laundry whenever 🤓. The portable fan saved us while we were waiting for fireworks at the hub. It was so crowded and the air was so stagnant.

Can't dry a bathing suit in the swamp. 🤣 FL heat just hits different. 🌞 ☀️ 🔥 🌋 Fans, cooling wipes, travel deodorant, body glide, blister bandages, at least 2 pairs of comfortable shoes(so you can alternate) are All necessities here. We always take advantage of the extra magic hours/rope drop and we have a nice sit down meal in the afternoon and then we hit the shows and shops. I am one of those people who doesn’t really sweat and I can attest that this can be a huge problem! If you don’t sweat, you have to be super careful not to overheat. Also, U would suggest packing a light weight long sleeve for those AC blasts- esp if you are cold natured- because it is a jolt after being in the sun. Great tips, as always, Jen!!

Thanks for watching Amanda! And YES to a light weight hoody. I always have one in my bag and bonus this year's has SPF so I can also throw it on if I find myself in the sun without enough sunscreen.

I love your comments about summer. I don’t do well at all in the heat - Philadelphia gets hot and muggy and I end up looking red and miserable!! My ideal time is January/early February - comfortable weather and less crowds. And I have to ask - where did you get that hat?? It’s great!

Great tips, we freeze 1 or 2 water bottles that we bring in a backpack (with snacks) and the bag gets lighter as you get more tired latter in the day. Also all the Canadians are in the pool in Jan and Feb as anything is better than -20C Ha Ha

As someone who grew up in central Florida, I can say everything here is 100% true. Florida Summer air is just stagnant. I mean it's just dead. There is zero wind most of the time. The heat is flat and damp.

I'm going right after you, and I'm a hot sweaty beast, lol!! I'm planning on stretch shorts, very thin tank tops, and a kimono over it because I'm round and over 40! Ha! We do not bring compression socks, we do the sleeves! That way we can wear out preferred socks, and still get compression where we need it. We bring our sleeves into the Parks, for the second half of the day/evenings. We pop them in, and to in our way!

FABULOUS VIDEO!!! Amazing tips!! Monkey Butt. No joke. 🤣 We come prepared, no matter where we travel. I tend not to plan trips to warmer climates in the summer anymore because my husband has a condition where he can't regulate his body temperature, even in the few hot days we have here in Seattle (last summer's 118° day was killer. We don't have A/C!) But I'm always looking for the best cooling methods for him and in turn, my son & I. We like neck fans, my Scott always wears a hat in the sun and he owns many cooling shirts and cooling scarves. We mostly frequent California (west coast people and we have family in LA). The DRY heat has its own issues. It's a constant challenge - heat and travel. We have great flight benefits and we want to GO! We just need to be smart.

I agree. I'm from Georgia (right now I live in Athens just north of ATL) my family from as far back as the 1700s have been in the south, we know heat. It even gets to us, hubby is even from south Ga. and it gets to him). We do all that you said (except the indoor dining) and then more. Be prepared for rain, not just nice soft rain showers but deluges of fast heavy rain. Another advantage of going at night, the rain is usually done by then. I even take a sweater to the parks in summer, because of that darn AC. Going from hotter then the tenth level of you know where to freezing is a shock, especially if you've been glowing (I don't sweat, I'm southern, I glow).
