Tsuyosa for the win

I just bought the Tissot Le Locle. I'm waiting till it arrives. It will be my very first mechanical watch. Still with my Casio Duro Marlin on my wrist.

Where are you getting the Citizen Tsyosa small seconds for that price? ($209) Even Chrono 24 they are in the mid $300's

I know people often criticize Invicta watches, but my first watch was the Invicta Men’s 0420 Pro Diver Automatic Black Dial Titanium Watch. When I bought it, I wasn’t aware of the variety of watches available; I only knew about Rolex. Since I couldn’t afford a Rolex and vowed never to buy a fake, I chose this Invicta. I’ve worn it for years, and just this month, I replaced the bracelet pin. It has been my reliable daily driver and has served me well.

Great list, but I personally would prefer classic square Casio G-Shock (5600) to a Casioak (2100). Square G-Shock as timeless as F91-W, and usually wears a bit smaller that casioak. Both are great timepieces though.

G-Shocks are respected by watch fans, and they are sub £100 mainly. if buying one, go for the solar and bluetooth version. I have the yellow and it is ripe for summer!

Happy with my 35 Casios (Digital, Analog, Ana-Digi & G-Shocks) which offer a great VFM !

I own the G-Shock, the PRX and the Tsuyosa and I´m wearing the PRX almost every day. My G-Shock has the dark blue hands which makes it almost impossible to read the time with a quick glance. The Tsuyosa wears really well but the clasp feels annoyingly cheap. The PRX is by far my favourite even though it doesn´t wear as well as the Citizen because of the sharp edges of the bracelet. Therefore I bought a rubber strap and it´s really comfortable now, it makes the perfect summer watch (mint green dial with white strap).

Picked up a mamacoo's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!

I strongly believe you made a mistake about the price of the citizen tsuyosa small seconds. Never seen proce tag as low as 209$. Not even as low as 299$. But if you ordered it at the price you claim please share the link or the sellers information.

I would add Bulova to your list and have numerous in my collection. They were good enough for Frank! One of my favorites is the Bulova Frank Sinatra My Way men’s watch.

Jenny I like the Lorien but I don’t like the seagul movement. The PRX is a good buy, but I just saw it on Jomashop for around $550 with the much debated powermattic 80. That’s my two cents.

The Tissot PRX reminds me of my Tissot F1 Quartz I got as a gift, back in 1983. Tissot PRX is my favorite in this review.

My first watch was a Casio World time watch. It had a digital world map. My dad got it for me so we could sync up time when he traveled to different countries. I loved that watch. I lost in a move years ago, and it's been killing me ever since.

Jenny you put together a great collection, I own three from your list , Tissot PRX in Blue , Seagull and Casioak and of of them are fun to wear and own. I love all three even when I have a collection of luxury brands

I have a Casio W217HM-7BVEF and a San Martin SN0107-G, both great watches , the Casio is below €50,- and the San Martin is less than €300,- both are great watches... I cannot afford to spend €500,- on a watch, that is one month of rent for our home...

I'm wearing my CasiOak today. Nice to wear a do anything, don't care if it gets banged up watch once in a while. By the way I think Timex Marlin came out in the 1950"s. I have a 50"s vintage Marlin in my collection.

Other than the Lorier, these are the same suggestions we always see. In the meantime, there are so many microbrands with great affordable watches, or hidden heroes amongst the classic brands. I would never buy a (for me) gaudy plastic watch like the CasiOak for example, but I found the Casio EF-121 which is now a cool little daily watch for my son. On a grey nubuk strap he gets lots of compliments on it. Searching for and finding such watches is half the fun. Just because a "watch snob" wouldn't buy it doesn't mean they are not respectable.

I’m wearing a PRX quartz right now. I’ve bought 2 actually, a silver dial and a lume dial.

My problem with any watch with a Sea Gull movement is it's basically a throwaway. No one will service it if it has a problem out of warranty for what it costs originally.

I heard the California dial was originally made for salesmen to show potential customers the two options of indices on one dial without having two different watches. Basically a traveling salesmen example

This is a great selection of watches! However, it's a shame that the only quartz movements are in the Casio models. I would have loved to see some variety in quartz options. Since I don't wear all my watches daily, mechanical ones become inconvenient as they need resetting each time.

The Casio W217H is like the F91W but 5 or 6 millimeters larger and slightly thicker. So it looks the same on my wrist as the F91W I wore as a kid. So the W217H has the very strange effect of making me feel 14 years old when I look at it. But the F91W since it is quite small makes me feel incredibly old.

For a day to day reliable watch get a Casio g shock they last for years and you can get really good watches for under £100

Well, you're not gonna get that Citizen small seconds for $209 anytime soon, the 3 hander, sure. I own the blue one and it's STUNNING. Also, the blue is so underrated. It's got a bit of green in the blue and I can match it with almost any blue that I wear.

I would go as far to say every watch enthusiast if they refer to themselves as one will have an eclectic collection by value. I'd never wear my luxury pieces doing messy house DIY or on a tennis court thats where my casioaks come in and especially I would never wear luxury heading into London these days so the PRX ice blue dial is perfect. When it's jeans and t-shirt day in the beer garden I get so much attention from my Ciga Series Z with orange strap more than any of my luxuries ever get and the Ciga was £150
